CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT THEY DID! FINED IN CHRISTCHURCH!

We'll look at the history of the city, the effects of the earthquakes, and the current situation given that there's not many tourists and New Zealand is in desperate need of people to work. Join us as we uncover Christchurch and its struggles to get back on its feet.
Now back to the issue - we were fined in Christchurch, New Zealand. We were sleeping on a freedom campsite and a gentleman from the council woke us up at 6 or 7 in the morning to give us a fine of 200 New Zealand dollars and said our van was not self contained, the issue was to do with out self contained sticker being handwritten rather than printed out, but our actual self contained paper work was all good and the council staff didn't want to look at it as it had already issued the fine. After a few minutes trying to understand why we got fined and the gentleman just being rude to us we decided to just take it to the council on Monday as this happened on a weekend.
We didn't want our day to be ruined by this so we decided to take on the city and visit everything we had planned out and like everyone said to us before, Christchurch is a lovely city.
On the following Monday we went to the council and presented all facts we had and explained our situation, they decided that we were not in the wrong and our fine was forgiven.
This just goes to show you that sometimes the backpackers are not wrong and were just not given the opportunity to express themselves. This was a not so great start in Christchurch but we didn't let it ruin our weekend (at least not completely ahah).
