Denji's story takes place near the time when he fights against Makina at the graveyard. However, some nosers invade their pre-fight and eliminate Makima right on the spot using angelic weapons. They didn't harm Denji though, but they promised him a place of freedom where he would run away from his miserable life. Little did he know that there were some "gifts" along the way.
During his time in Runaway City, he comes across the Red Velvets and decides to hang out with them for fun. Surprisingly, Denji became Marinette's second older brother, the first is Hiccup. And throughout the dynamics, they will have each other against the world. (No pun intended Cat Noir!)
