Can't Land in Rain, Pilatus Porter PC6, Papua Indonesia Ride Along Flight.

I’m a JAARS Pilot/Mechanic with YAJASI serving in Papua Indonesia. I fly the Pilatus Porter PC-6 STOL bush plane. This video is a flight I recently did to Pending. I couldn't land because of rain and had to wait at a nearby airport to wait for the rain to stop. Sloped mountain airstrips cause landing perception illusions, when you add precipitation to that it increases landing illusions.

Pilatus Porter - best ever! Shortest take-off and landings and climb like a fart out of a bath! Takes an 8-way skydiving team and I have done many, many jump out of them. Plenty take-offs but no landings.👍

Wow. What a cool video. I am happy it was raining at Pending, else we would not have gotten to see and enjoy the Village of Sangmata. I am a Flight Simmer (X-Plane 11.5) and Papua New Guinea and Papua, Indonesia are among my favorite places to visit. Thanks for posting.

Love these pc6 videos! During parachute cup had chance to feel first-hand what it can do. Went along on one of fuel runs to other airport while my friends in cockpit had a blast trying to imitate Star Wars canyon run flying low trough terrain 😁 Best flight of my life!

Cool videos. Keep making them. In 1958 my father was asked to work for the dutch Philips company in New Guinee. My grandma (borne on Jawa) told my mother that papua people eat people, so she got scared and my father didn't took the job. Otherwise me and my brother were borne there. My father is burried in Jakarta. He never felt at home in the Netherlands. When I see you talking to the papua people I understand what you say. We here in the Netherlands can still speak Bahase Indonesia. I learned it from my father. I was from 1975 until 2005 very often in Indonesia., but never in New Guinee. We have a big family history there. 2WW and all its misery that hurt our family and others. Stay safe and I love your videos'. Sampai berjumpa lagi. If the weather is not Zehr gut and rains, you can not Committ the landing on the runway and you have to stay Pending on circuit 😀 Beautiful video anyway, thank you for upload!

Wish we had such good cameras when I was flying in the Philippines! If I wanted to video I had to hold the camcorder on my shoulder, kind of hard to do in the Helio.

New subscriber - I have been watching similar channels made in PNG, did not realize that Papua Indonesia had the same missions. Glad to see these, they look real interesting. Rock guards, prevents rocks from hitting the horizontal stab on takeoff and landing.
