Planeswalkers get better when your opponent can't attack them

Murktide is there to help you end the game. You can cut Murktide for Kaheera, but then why are you trying to take extra turns? Do you really want to have to combo into 6 extra turns instead of 3? This is a combo variant, not a control variant. Maybe the more control version is better, but that version doesn't run extra turn spells or Murktide anyway.

Teferi, hero is probably a much better win condition than murktide since it's harder to answer. Fury and kaheera are a pretty good plan B and fire/ice could take the place of explore while being pitchable to fury

Kaheera is probably much better than murktide. You want a way to ensure you have inevitably, rather than a fast clock. A fast clock is hardly reliable if there is only one in your deck. Only argument I can see for murktide is for time considerations

@@awsomegadgetguy7191 4 Solitude and Kaheera can close out the game just fine. Kaheera is in the companion zone, which allows an extra deck slot for Teferi, Hero of Dominaria. Kaheera is far, far more consistent than Murktide, which you have to luck into.

Not just found a home, but kicking out the old residents. I think Bowmasters is in something like 60% of ALL Legacy decks on MTGO now. Everyone's splashing black just to play it, because the best answer to a Bowmasters is your own Bowmasters.

All of those cards are unplayable in modern. God eternal kefnet is too slow and unreliable while growth spiral and explore are clunky

​@@matthewcowles6031I know reading is hard and apparently you didn't watch the video either as Explore is currently is this build of the deck and is why I said to swap out Explore with Growth Spiral so you can draw on your opponents turn to make best use of Kefnet's ability. Good looking out though.

You may play an additional land this turn is much better than put a land into play when your chaining spells drawing multiple cards over the course of a turn. Especially when the land you put into play might matter if you've drawn a better option. growth spiral requires you play whats available right then and there. Also in a multicolor mana base 2 pips makes a big difference compared to 1 when certain turns have to be played very tightly. I could imagine a split being reasonable, but the turns players have preferred explore over the years while growth spiral was an option (I recall a list during GP Hogaak that made it to the semi finals or finals opting for explore) so that's likely the reason). A part of me thinks elvish reclaimer alongside a copy or flagstones of trokair might be worth considering as acceleration or a way to get your basics in play around blood moon, but perhaps it opens up too much and gets clunky.

You're right in thinking that either not drawing cards from beanstalk, or discarding to hand size from beanstalk feels bad. However, those are two different decks with two different end games in mind. The one featured in the video is planning on combo killing them with extra turns / Murktide eventually. The one you're mentioning kills them with overall value and the opponent eventually can't keep up. Although they may have similar play styles and can both win with similar lines. Notice that Reid Duke cares about putting his opponent on a clock with this version where he otherwise wouldn't in the one you're mentioning.

@@awsomegadgetguy7191 your statement doesn't really make any sense. Playing cards that make your cards better is always a good plan, especially in a deck that's trying to be as grindy as this or any other 3+ color deck. The deck shown has a plan A that's pretty easy to shut down and no plan B. Some slight changes could make this deck way better

@@phil817 he's got this horrible fake peppiness about him. There isn't any aspect of him that's not plastic. And whenever commentators get loud for no reason that's not great either. Honestly that's a criticism of Paul Cheon too. And also some people just have unappealing voices, and that is what it is but if your job is talking 12 hours a day .... I think you have to have an above 50th percentile voice

It's sad to say that I think Corey Baumeister is one of the better magic commentators I've heard... It's hard to find someone that is willing to not play or judge that knows and loves magic. I really liked Reid Duke commentating on the Laughing Dragon 5k (which ironically had more youtube views than the protour at the time). But big businesses like commentators that can bring views because apparently just watching the pro tour isn't enough. Although come to think of it all commentary for everything has gone down hill sports being some of the worst now. Bring back the day of radio when that's all you had no more personality or politics involved just are you good at telling a story through voice only. I think most commentary just misses timing on every single story telling point because the video is so disconnected to the audio so instead of seeing one fluid story we're experiencing story reverb that just leaves us confused, irritated and unsatisfied. And especially when you have hours of delay between the livestream and weeks of delay for a youtube video there's not much of an excuse... We don't want fast information, we want an interesting story as we watch someone else solve a million dollar puzzle (or throw away a million dollar solution to the puzzle). We don't want "I'm super happy guy" or "I'm super knowledgeable guy" we want someone that nails the story telling timing so when they go in for the final handshake it feels like we're the ones shaking hands.
