Can the 2019 Audi A8L Dethrone Mercedes-Benz As The Technology Leader?

Good morning everyone and happy Monday! We’re in Fort Bragg, CA today to film the all-new 2020 Subaru Outback so stay tuned for videos on that vehicle very soon! We apologize for uploading this video so late after filming but it was almost not going to be uploaded due to an issue with an audio cable on our brand new Seinheiser wireless mic that affected this video and the 2019 Murano that was uploaded a couple weeks ago. We got this mic in April of this year, so it kind of got us off guard when we discovered a cable had already gone bad. We tried our best to match the voiceover to what was actually said during filming but you may notice that Sofyan’s lips don’t exactly match what was said at times. The faulty cable has been replaced but unfortunately with filming, audio problems arise occasionally 😔. We also wanted to mention that the 2020 Audi S8 has already been announced earlier this month for Europe and the US version should be coming soon afterwards. It’ll be equipped with a 4.0L 48 volt bi-turbo V8 with 563 HP and we can’t wait to drive that! It will also address our complaint about the mundane styling of this particular model. Hope that answers some of your questions and thanks for watching!

The three screens are nice but honestly i think they'd distract drivers, in the other hand, the A8L is nice overall, i really like the subtle style

Just by looking at this so call "new" design one would understand why Mercedes outsells Audi by a lot

Soft-closing and assisted-opening doors are not for "the lazy, but part of the entire package designed to be Q U I E T. Rather than slam a door, you (or your driver) pushes it and it QUIETLY closes. You can't hear the door locks. Window shades are almost silent. The list goes on... I do agree the black on black is blah and the stupid piano black kinda sucks - but it IS cool how it blends with the screens so the dash isn't busy with trim and borders.

That interior looks like something I can get in a Camry.

I'm not sure but I think the audio is out of sync with the video.

I think the A8 looks way better than the s class or 7 series

A Hyundai Genesis g80 shouldn't look better/have more presence than this vehicle 😂

So how comes the reviewer didn't complain about the dual screens. Infiniti and acura did it first and according to him it's not necessary and he hates it. Is it because Audi did a better job with screen resolution and tech? Or dual screens is just stupid. Need to be consistent in your reviews. Other than that, nice review. We really don't need all this tech in cars cause no matter how much driver assistance a vehicle have, one can't really escape bad drivers and we're supposed to pay attention. After warranty is up, tech going cost an arm and a leg to fix unless you lease these cars.

Always felt the A8 never gets enough attention from Audi even though it is it's flagship model! I feel like they could 100% blow consumers away if they wanted too. I agree it's not distinctive enough

Used to love Audi but lately feel like their designs are boring and cold.

They made the A7 look awesome yet the A8 is so stale. Just a straight slab of sheet metal. With the S class and the LS looking so distinctive, this needed to be better.

Another commenter said it looks like a Passat and now I can’t unsee the Passat in this car. And I wouldn’t want a V6 in my flagship car. A V8 or V12 is a must.

I just can't understand how someone would pay 100K and get a black on black interior. It's literally all about style and luxury in a flagship sedan and they give you the most boring interior combo? And all that piano black. Yuck. :(

This is honestly disappointing. The backup camera quality, safety tech, and closing a/c vents is neat, other than that this vehicle is nothing special especially for the 6 figure price tag. If this was a Lexus LS or Cadillac cT6 sporting this boring and bland exterior design and those fake plastic exhaust tips you would have set up tent outside Caddi and Toyota cooperate with pitchforks. You would've called them out. This v6 has a puny sound which is sad for it to be turbocharged and it doesn't help that the exterior design is this conservative and underwhelming. The cheapness continues in the interior with all that black shiny plastic. Again, if it were a Cadillac you would have been ALOT less forgiving! Soyfan, you give the Germans alot of slack. I'm beginning to realize that now. You say its "just" an A8, yeah it's just Audi's flagship sedan. You quickly forget the price bracket this vehicle is in, we should have alot better sounding turbocharged v6 or even a v8 and shouldn't have to spend an additional $40,000 to get it in a Audi s8. Genesis G90 and Cadillac ct6 offers this already for less money. You should be just as hard on the Germans. The Germans obviously have you wrapped around their fingers.

When this car will be on sale in the used car market in a few years, that rear tablet will be missing.

Jesus what a boring looking car. Admittedly i'm not a "Car guy", i'm artist and performance doesn't wow me so much... but man I personally cannot forgive a car with such bland, boring exterior design.

I’m a Lexus guy, but no one can deny how clean Audi’s design language is.

If you’re buying a car in this class anything other than the S-class and the 7-Series, the only other legit one is the Lexus LS. The new A8 looks so bland and boring and not appealing at all. Even the new Genesis G90 has more characters and soul.

I like the conservative look. Although I'm single with no kids so I'd opt for the A7

These grills are getting out of hand. So much space taken up where there could be more style cues and more of a unique look to that particular car instead of sharing a wide mouth grill like Lexus and Kias among others.

The S class sells because of its name and tradition. People know the iconic Mercedes Benz Star and the prowess of the S Class which is why it dominates. The other brands simply cannot compete with the S class

Does not even compare to the S class. You'll see plenty of S classes of this era on the road in 20 years, clapped out or not. You do not see many old A8s on the road.

Great technology but it looks boring both interior & exterior. I would take the 7 series & S class over this.

Front end lets this car down soooo much, how much more ridiculous can a front grill get? As an owner of an pervious Gen A8 I'm gonna skip this thing. Sure It's comfy but I need something I can enjoy looking at before anything.

The design is very conservative compared to the BMW 7 series and Mercedes S Class. Maybe you can review the Mercedes Benz S Class and the new 7 series and see how it compares to the Audi A8.

I am a certified diesel and automotive technician I am a former overseas contractor whose has lived in Europe twice you look and sound like you need another job! I am class and this is a conservative high class vehicle! Plain describes your attire typical American going to a pretty boring baseball game but not this car!

Does anyone have a 2019 a8L and notice tge front sunroof only opens about half way to the actual roof cutout? Im wondering of my is malfunctioning or if this smaller amount of actual opening when compared to the inside roof cutout us normal. Thank you and success always!

Who cares about technology - the S Class is still the undisputed king of luxury sedans. This will be bought by a handful of people trying to appear thoughtful and edgy, that is all.

I own a ‘21 Audi A8L V8 model. This guy hates Audi but is doing a “comparison”. Let’s be real. The Mercedes S is not some magical innovation. I’ve owned a Mercedes, it was OK. The Audi is quite mind blowing IRL. While a cruiser, you can touch that pedal on a highway and be at 120 passing cars in no time with that V8. It’s seductively quiet. Don’t underestimate shy of 500HP. The interior has every known amenity I could think to have in place.

Ngl, the A8s proportions are perfect. The c pillar is just eye soothing.

I mean, the S class and M7 are the cool distinctive look, so the Audi does the thing its competitors are not doing, for the people who want something different.

The beauty of this and most Audis is simple elegance. "Not flashy" is part of what I love about them. I have owned 4 Audis consecutively since 2000 and loved all of them ('99 A4, '07 A6, '15 A6, and '19 A8L).

is it just me or does the s560 just have the best luxury car interior? I mean idk this car is beautiful but i just think the s560 smokes this.
