I'm virtually bedridden with fibromyalgia and I can't express enough how much your wonderful videos Retrorestore too help me get through the day. I can't thank you enough
Origins of the German Doner Kebab go back to Turkish workers bringing their cuisine to Germany in the 60’s. I haven’t been to any branches of this franchise but definitely looks worth checking out as I am bored of the other fast food places. Really looking forward to your Christmas show, thanks for sharing. ❤
In Germany they Put that meat and salad in a Fladen bread (flat bread) its very nice. Yours Look good. MMM you should come to Germany for the Christmas Market. They are very good. Nice tasty Bratwurst. Curry Wurst. Or Schmalz Kuchen Mmm
Looks amazing, we have a German Doner Kebab in Dundee but have never been in it yet but after seeing this I’ll Definitely be visiting it soon , take care Danny 👍🏻👍🏻
Great video, your overall presentation and your own thoughts / comments has improved so much in the way you present your videos, have a fantastic Christmas.
Ahhhh! You have made me so hungry now. I have never seen a doner kebab shop like that anywhere. Guess I have to go you york to sample that one. Price is pretty good for eating in. Going to check out if they have a chain near London. Wow, just spotted on they have in Croydon on their site. Will be visiting.
Omg. I've only ever had German doner kebab once in Maidstone. I loved it. I'm going back in the new year. yum yum xx I saw your turkey but I haven't watched your video yet. I hope you enjoyed it. I'm about to watch your video now. Keep your food blogs coming I'm addicted. I'm loving your trips too. Keep them coming. luv you both xxx
I love the OG mixed kebab on the flat bread which is toasted and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside but has the right balance of bread to meat ratio unlike tortilla wraps which can be to much and a bit tasteless. GDK seems to be a bit marmite with some folks but I love it.
I'm English and live in Holland..I have been to Germany many times and I can say they are the best dober kebabs I've ever eaten .. absolutely lovely meat with a hint of mint .
We’ve got a branch local always a great kebab with quality ingredients and a decent portion - nice with their flatbread highly recommend them to anyone whose not tried them yet
Really enjoyed that Guys! Worthwhile food!😋 Thank you for sharing as always. Enjoy the rest of your time in York. Looking forward to seeing you next time. Hugs and kisses🤗🤗 😘😘
Looked delicious and a lovely clean restaurant so nice surroundings to sit and relax in too, I love a Doner kebab but usually suffer terrible heartburn afterwards! That didnt look at all greasy....
Looks peng! I actually think the price of the meal was reasonable especially considering you’re in a tourist area. Glad you enjoyed your treat and I for one will be sampling one when my family I visit York in February. Another superb review Sharon and Martin thank you x
Another great video. Watching from my premier inn down in Somerset like you two we hunt for food. Had a lovely bratwurst and Yorkshire pudding wrap at Christmas market. Tomorrow fish and chips down western super mere seafront 💃🏽💃🏽
Guys, if you get chance and you have one near you try Popeyes louisiana chicken, a lot better than kfc! aint been back to a kfc since popeyes opened in plymouth, and their cajun gravy is awesome, the tenders are massive compared to kfc fillets! check it out!
Your wrap looks very tasty, and your meal looks just as nice Martin. . Something a bit different as well. I would imagine both very filling, never had one myself. Never had a kebab, so not sure on the taste. Thanks for sharing.
got one in Slough, 1st time it's a surprise no long strips of Doner meat all flaked and in house bread but...highly flavoursome easy to bite into slips down a treat and added bonus no real unwanted windy-pops afterwards 👍 little more info I get the version that looks like half a pie, but is enclosed in German flatbread that's why it's so easy to eat no faffing with straggly bits, although of course that's what a lot of people love about a tra traditional Doner and I also stay away from the spicy sauce, prefer Yoghurt or Minty
Hi Martin and Sharon, even though i'm a fussy eater one thing i love is a kebab. The ones we get where i love are not the same as you used to get. They use cheap meat now and cut it thick. One place i used to order from used to deliver in a large pizza box, now it's a small pizza box for the same money. Yours and Sharon's meals looked lovely, i don't think it was a bad price except for the drinks
All that packaging for some meat and salad, surely they can reduce that quite substantially. I bought this when I went to my mums the other month, we didn’t think much of it. Good video though as always smarty marty 👌
@@Mazza240 I know what you mean, I'm like that with some things. I'm not the biggest fan of wooden cutlery but I can deal with it. It's the feeling of certain types of velvet for me, I hate it.
I passed on in Glasgow and no.one was in ..passed there about same time 6 months ago and was busy. Ok cost of living but these places are taking the p and will end up.closing
It's not how the Germans make them, it's how the Turks in Germany make them. They have their own style because of the huge Turkish population in Germany, similar to how Indian food made in curry houses in the UK is different to how it is in India. I tell all my British friends to try the döner in Germany and I tell my German friends to try the curry in the UK. I'd always recommend a family run shop over a flashy chain though, both for curry and döner.
I'm wat hing this at 7.15 am and I now want a kebab 😂. FYI Kirks butchers in Skeg fo a 10lb box of proper kebab meat for £24. Pressure cook a portion for minutes and its as good as any chip shop.
So glad you're tasting this for us. One's opened in Canterbury, and I've been curious, as 'I'm not a fan of fast food. This looks to be good quality and good value, so I'll certainly try it next time I go.
Sorry to say but being from Canada and looking at the donair, We made yours and it looks better and we can fill it with more or less meat and veggies to our likings. All in all I like yours better and it helps on the wallet which is what us ordinary people look for. Still a great video
Hi Martin just a quick one.how about some roast chestnuts in the air fryer .just the thing for food nights .might only take 5 or 10 minute just split them .Ray
@ 07:04 Like your taste in music Martin. The food all looks great and reasonably priced. Must be thirty years since I've had a dirty Donna. I switched to shish kebabs instead because I thought they were healthier. Next time I'm in town I'm getting myself a large Doner and fries. Do you think they'd kick you out if you brought your own can of drink in from outside? How would they even know? Germans aren't known for Kebabs it's the thousands of Turks that have made Germany their home over the years. Same as here in the UK, Turkish or British with Turkish heritage making the best kebabs.
Not a fan of donner myself give me shish korfe or chicken kebab with blugar wheat if you are London try Green Lanes Haringey so many places it famous for this people come from all over
Martin Like the video I liked Sharon's best wigh chips wrap why don't you try to make a German kebab with chips I think a lit of people would like it who does not love a kebab Phil & Jackie in stoke 😂
Is it really the Germans? Maybe it was Turkish immigrants in Germany and the owner is probably Turkish. Only a guess because in the UK it is a very similar situation with Bangladeshis working almost all the Indian restaurants because the country name sounds more premium and the national dish being invented by probably an Indian. Just a fun fact theory, lol.
your drinks are cheap if you were over here you would be paying about $3.00 for a can of softdrink and at least over $4.00 for a 600ml bottle of softdrink
