If by good picture you mean “able to measure in millimeters” then yeah. But I bet he could post close up pictures of his triangular key all day long, make copies, and you’d still never find his trailer. If you were going to go through all that effort, there are probably more effective things you could do... I guess maybe your comment would be relevant to the new homebuyer or smth posting their keys on Instagram to friends who know where they live? I mentioned on Harry's channel before that this is a great lock, but it's a double edged sword. By using a visibly nice lock on a covered trailer, it makes it appear you have something very valuable inside that is worth the effort. Be sure to reinforce the trailer door locks as well, cuz those have now become the weak point.
@davedavenport8176
@davedavenport8176 2 года назад
Well your statement has a whole lot of validity to it. And not just for trailers. I do agree that you definitely want to beef up the door and lock on the door. With that said the same thoughts can be applied to a storage locker. I once had a unit broke into that they came through the top. Then un screwed a panel from the inside of my unit into an empty unit. It was discussed that my lock 🔐 that was a very heavy duty Master lock that had a high security rating because of false pins was what drew attention to my unit. I had four unit’s with them all connected. So all 4 doors had the same type of master lock. Simply put my high end high security lock drew attention. 🙁
@ducjduck

@@davedavenport8176 I’m sorry but masterlocks are the easiest locks to pick. Their security level and advertising with false pins is absolute bullshit. (They still look pretty strong tho so as long as the thief hasn’t heard of masterlock before you will be fine.)

I have a similar lock for my snowmobile trailer. One thing that I do (and was recommended by the manufacturer) that I think would work in your case too is to hook the safety chains BEFORE putting it into the ball hitch and then twist that piece a couple of times to take the slack up on the safety chains, then attach it. The chains will now be tighter and not hang as low and make it tougher for someone to just connect some chains to your dangling chains. Try it out... curious if it works with that design hitch and lock.

This reminds me of another method a customer actually came up with which was simple and interesting. He had a battery on the inside of the trailer, connected to a mercury switch. When they lift the trailer up, switch hits, and brakes kick in. I also noticed your parking it on a driveway. Could also just install an abus granit and chain the axel from underneath.

Or a shorter truck with a drop hitch and the ball installed upside down. Quick trip to Walmart at 11pm and a big wrench and you can steal it regardless of your trucks height. If you want to make sure no one steal your trailer, on top of this lock, bring your battery operated impact wrench and wood blocs. then jack up your trailer and remove all the wheels. No burglar would take your trailer, unless he brings a set a wheels for your trailer.. This is what I do with my equipment (trailers, snowblower, boat trailer). So far none of them have been stolen, even with a regular Master padlock to lock the hitch...
