Hi I just watched this video and I was wondering why you demonstrated the Nama J2 with the larger Hopper instead of the regular Hopper. 🤔🤔It made it look much larger next to the shine.
I bought Shine and what a waste of money!!! It’s REAL BAD!!! (1) it does NOT juice celery or carrots, meaning you get little juice and even if you try to re-juice pulp, it doesn’t do the job and gets stuck. (2) it works OK on pears and apples, BUT it doesn’t make good amount and pulp is super wet, so you are wasting produce. Finally, their customer support is rude and basically doesn’t exist, it’s some small company with bad reps. It was a waste of money! And it’s heavy and bulky, so not sure how Shine can be good for travel. Finally this video makes Shine juicer look OK, but in reality it’s worth than a juicer (forget the name) a friend of mine got on Groupon for $50 or so. I am not sure how he got that much juice with Shine, mine machine literally didn’t juice well.
Hello Yuliana. Thank you for sharing your experiences with the shine juicer. Can you tell me which model shine juicer you got ? 1. the original 2. the XL (wide feed chute) or 3 Batch juicer? Every time I have used the shine batch juicer, it worked fine for me, juicing a variety of items. It is important to pre-cut certain items such as celery and carrots in all the shine juicers since these are "low-end" machines for sure. If you try to stuff too much into the juicer at once, I can see how it really would not work well, get a lower yield, and potentially even break. As I show in this video, it DOES make less yield than the Nama J2, and thus would have a more wet pulp. But then again, you get what you pay for. The shine is a good quality low end juicer, but of course the Nama J2 is a much more durable, and efficient juicer over all. I am surprised that Tribest did not take care of any customer service issues. This concerns me. Do you have the name of the person you spoke with at tribest?
I'd advise caution in choosing a juicer based on how it performs with carrots and apples unless that's all you plan on juicing, especially with these low-cost juicers. Make sure you understand how the juicer you're considering will perform with the produce you're most likely to juice. This could mean leafy greens or fruits and vegetables that are not that fresh (thus softer) because you bought them on sale or let them sit in the fridge for a week because you were too busy to juice.
This is very true. Carrots can be difficult for some machines to juice. I would encourage people to find videos where I juice what they want to juice to see actual world experience as each item will juice differently. Of course, I always recommend juicing the most fresh produce. Softer fruits dont tend to juice well in slow juicers, so at that point, they would be better eaten or frozen for smoothies.
I wonder what would happen if you put the pulp back into the shine juicer? or if you put it in a nut milk bag. Of course, it's counter productive to use a nutmilk bag witha juicer but I do wonder how much juice you can squeeze out the shine pulp. thanks for another great video!
In the shine instruction manual, they say "Do not put the pulp through a second time." So that practice may cause damage to the shine. Of course, this is something I regularly do in the Nama J2 to get more juice, in most instances I re-juice the pulp with jicama cubes so it works more effectively. If I put it ina nut milk bag, clearly, I would get more juice out, however, the pulp was not as FINE and more coarse, meaning it didn't break open cell walls enough to get even more juice out. Once again, you get what you pay for.
The Green Star Pro can juice wheatgrass. Is it good? Is another question, if juicing alone, I would say no. It will make a high yield and get the pulp dry, but it will add LOTS of foam (oxygenated juice). A single auger machine such as the Sana 727 would be a better choice to juice wheatgrass. When juicing wheatgrass in the pro and alternating carrots (or other produce) it will significantly reduce foam, and do a great job.
I have a Shine and am quite disappointed. It left hard bits of carrots in the liquid. You did not do a taste test (and I was looking for this during the video) and I want to know, before I purchase a Nama, does it do the same as the Shine - leaving bits of food in the juice? I wouldn't recommend the Shine for anyone with swallowing difficulties or children because they could choke and have a medical emergency.
I did use a sieve to remove all the pulp that would have been put into the juice, which was in the sieve. As I share in the video the shine left 54.8 grams of pulp. Nama put 34.9 grams of pulp in the juice After using a sieve, both juices would not have any bits of pulp in the juice. The Nama does leave in most instances LESS pulp in the juice than other similar models from my testing. However, for a pulp-free juice you need to use an additional sieve.

when you take either of these in a carry on, do you feel there is an issue with the auger being considered a blade.... and in that sense do you think they would let a blendtek in a carry on bag as the blade is blunt.... vs a tribes that has a sharp blade that can unscrew
I have taken Auger juicers on the plane MANY times, and while they will want to do a secondary inspection, it will pass. That being said, I have had BLADES in BLENDERS taken away. So only check in your blender carafes. That being said LOW speed juicers with plastic augers can be carried on based on my experience.
