i recently bought a 3rd party apple pencil for my 6th gen ipad and it works really nice, even with doing digital art like myself. the only problem i have with it is the off and on sensor is really sensitive and ill end up turning it off on accident a lot. other than that i recommend the third party pencils. plus it comes with 3 extra tips just in case one of em get scratched up or something. also definitely get a screen protector cause it feels like you could easily break your ipad or feels like youre scratching it after using the pencil for a long while

I bought the latest version of iPad which is iPad gen 11 pro max, I tried fake Apple Pencil on it and it works but sometimes you can’t click by using it :/ It doesn’t matter because I only use this iPad for temporary then I’ll switched to iPad gen 12 when it’s released 😭

3 third party pencil are good only for writing. For drawing and illustrations 2nd gen is must have. I was going to buy alternative but I choose apple pencil 2. Connection is seamless. Pressure sensitivity is just accurate. Tilt functions also. Warning if u are broke and going to buy apple pencil 2, never put paperlike no matter how. First it makes display color dull, scratches everywhere, expensive and kills the tip of apple pencil. I m using good tempered glass still my apple pencil tip got chipped. Imagine how will paperlike make tips chipped faster 😂 Real pencil tips are hella expensive. 3rd party tips are very bad. It's just pain in a$$. Cuz apple is apple.😢

Apple just have too many port problem, they want to keep lightning for more income, but lightning is also too old to keep up with usb-c And remember, they also keep changing the macbook charger port :)

@@Skikopl yeah but the reason it doesn’t work with 2nd gen Apple Pencil is because of the landscape camera messed up the magnets and stuff. But they fixed the problem for the new pro and air model which have landscape cameras

I have a $25 stylus that looks almost identical to the Apple Pencil (but has the charging port on the side) and I love it. I only use mine for digital planning on my iPad, and personally, I think if you don’t intend on using your iPad for heavy drawing/art related tasks, then you don’t need the real Apple Pencil.

You don’t need the real Apple Pencil even if you do heavy work and art. They make cheap ones that support tilt, pressure sensitivity, and replacement nibs, and more.

Same! Because I refuse to pay over 100$ for a pencil! The 3rd party ones do the job pretty well. I just use it to take notes and edit pictures

as someone who uses both- the apple pencil works amazing in PROCREATE because of the pressure sensitivity which other pencils don't have, its like the brushes are COMPLETELY different. but if you're looking to use it for anything other than procreate or smth that uses pressure sensitivity, then its pretty good actually. i have the black one from the video, it even came with extra nibs.

They don't have pressure sensitivity, but if you don't care about that because you're not using it for art, they're great. I have one on my iPad Mini 6, and gave one to my mom for mother's day to use with her iPad 9th gen. Plus since they don't need to be charged magnetically, you can stick a pencil grip on them for a more comfortable writing experience if you're ok chucking it into a backpack instead of magnetically attaching it.

Honestly the one good thing about the iPad 10 not supporting Apple Pencil 2 is that you can have a landscape camera AND buy a cheap pencil that will attach to the side of the iPad like a Gen 2. I mean you already have to use a cable to charge the Gen 1 now anyway so might as well get a cheaper magnetic pencil.

These are a good alternative if you just want to take notes and stuff but if you are into art and want the pencil manly for art then get the Apple Pencil. Otherwise just get the cheaper stylus

I was about to say pressure sensitivity is a must for art o.o a product without it can't compete with Wacom or the apple pencil, which fun fact uses Wacom technology same with the Spen but the pencil feels more organic than the Spen.

if someone bought the ipad 10th gen it will be there child or someone not that interested in drawing so buying the legit old apple pencil for this ipad is a waste of money because if ever wanted to upgrade in the future to an ipad pro or air in it won’t be compatible and as shown in the video there are better alternatives that works perfectly fine in most of the apps and if you’re an artist and you want an ipad for drawing consider buying a refurbished ipad air 4th gen because it comes with a better display technology and with 2nd gen apple pencil

I honestly think longitech is the best one to choose. It’s very similar to the Apple Pencil quality. Plus it’s cheaper than Apple Pencil and it is guaranteed to be compatible with all iPads. Unlike the Apple Pencil 1st generation

Not really some people use the pencil only for studying and note taking and that doesn’t require pressure sensitivity, i got a stylus that doesn’t support pressure sensitivity for only 9$ and it works great/ apple just announced a usbC new Apple Pencil and it doesn’t support pressure sensitivity and it’s 80$

I really like the new iPad 10th gens Especially since you can get them in some nice colours and they have a full display design for not very much money. The only issue is that they only support the apple pencil 1st gen like you said. Also that you have to carry around a dongle to charge the apple pencil and a separate USB-C charger to charge the iPad. PS: love your videos, keep up the great work!

Apple pencils are one of the most mindless cash-grabs. I’ve been using a third party pencil for well over 4 years and it has never let me down. I am a doctor so I only use it for pretty basic stuff like note taking and browsing around the iPad. TL;DR: just buy the cheaper option, apple fan boys.

At least third party companies have solutions but it's kind of stupid how Apple made the first gen Apple pencil only chargeable via plugging it into the iPad or that weird adapter that everybody lost. But not a single dupe has pressure sensitivity, and most have poor tilt and palm rejection. So there's that. Nothing works better with Apple products better than Apple products. If you're going to spend money on any iPad, cheaping out on a pencil, why bother, you're just not going to have a good time.
