As a Jets fan I would remind folks that Montreal and others said why offer anything when we could get PLD for free next year, then the LA trade happened. Side note - I would rather see us move out Kyle Connor and move Ehlers to the top line. He is a 5 on 5 analytics darling.
Agreed and I feel like the new Coach would play Ehlers more KC might show up more often on the stat sheet but KC doesn't back check and barely fore checks. Ehlers is good offensively, but has the speed (and uses it) to stay in the play defensively as well.
Your Jets/Hawks scenario is insane- and would never happen. Kevin Cheveldayoff has been hitting consistent homeruns with his trades- even when he's backed into the corner w/o any leverage- and still pulls off winning trades. Chevy isn't going to agree to these garbage trades you guys are proposing. Don't believe me? Go look at the Dubois to LA trade- which amounted to Vilardi, Kupari, Iafallo, a 2nd for Darcy Kuemper. It is clear who won that trade (Chevy) and that was when Chevy had almost no leverage! He'll never agree to your garbage suggestions.
Too funny. "Winnipeg has no leg to stand on..."??? HAHAAH... Every American team wants McGroarty. WPG has control of him for 2 years. That's a LOT of control. Pulock and their 1st and a prospect for Ehlers and McGroarty is the trade. If not, WPG will trade McG to NYR, CHI, PHA, NJD, etc... etc... NYI better step up fast. Pulock is the guy the Jets want and need. Good younger, local player. LOTS of a LEG to stand on.
The only thing that the Islanders have that the Jets would want for Ehlers would be Barzel, Romanov or Dobson. If those names aren't on the offer, I'm not sure that there would be a conversation starter. Chicago merely offered value, but the Jets want a key cog, not just value. That being said, Ehlers may just sign with the Jets. He wants to be a top line guy, but he might have a chance at that in Winnipeg, with the new coach, it's just that he'll have to earn it.
@@GoodMenstruationAttitudesenile Lou hasn’t won anything in over 20 years but sure. Don’t look now but we’re already in worse shape than he left jersey.
@@GoodMenstruationAttitude Louzer can thank a trap that was never banned, a dumb leafs trade, flames taking kidd over brodeur, and dumb blues losing stevens for poaching shanahan-a perfect storm for that 'success'. That plus stevens getting away with taking out opponents top scorers with head shots. So outside of that what has louzer done? Circumvent the cap on kovi deal before leaving nj in tatters and leaving isles in a 10 year re-build when he leaves thanks to a cap he could never manage and not giving a fk about isles future while signing an nhl high 8 players to 7-8 year max deals. His last trade for a guy who could score goals-mogilny-was so long ago it was almost in 20th century. Yeah give louzer all that praise.
I feel Ehlers might be one of the most overrated player in the league. He's a no-show in the playoffs. Soft in the regular season. Why would anyone want him? Chicago needs to hold on to their prospects and picks, rebuild right.
You can't talk about how much you want Mcgrority and then expect me to believe that he has no value. The Jets have his rights for the next 2 seasons and everyone is calling to acquire him now that he's rumored to be available. What a joke
My first thought is that since McGroarty has been hyped so much as a prospect, and he's now on the trading block, he told the Jets he didn't want to play in Winnipeg. They're trying to keep that quiet because of the whole storm kicked up earlier this year with the kid who didn't want to play for the Flyers (can't remember his name). That didn't do anybody any good, givi ng the kid a bad name (at least in Philly) and maybe hurting his trade value.
McGroarty wants to play in Wpg. He expects to play in top 6 immediately. Jets won't guarantee that. He's also friends with Gauthier who pulled the same stunt in Philly.
@@scatback33 It's not a good look for the league if all US born players say they don't want to play in Canada. That's become a trend in recent years, and I think Covid had a lot to do with it, players and their families still locked up up there when everything was opened up down here. Jeff Petry was the only one who said anything about it, but you know others were thinking it. And Petry had played his whole career in Canada up to that point and had, just before, signed an extension with Montreal, so he was happy to be there--until Covid.
