I love that they show Tobey’s face in this. Because other than Tom, Tobey is the only one who knows how crazy and dangerous the Goblin is. No villain afterwards comes even close

a lot of people are saying 2002's gobby was better because he sounded more calm, but i propose this: of course 2021 gobby's yelling. he's trying to get his message across mid-flight. if he were to speak with the same tone as 2002's goblin, it'd just feel off because nobody'd be able to hear him. EDIT: there seems to have been a misunderstanding. i'm not claiming 2021-Goblin's delivery is better BECAUSE he's yelling. i'm simply trying to explain why i don't feel like the yelling is an excuse to prefer the original. if you prefer the delivery of the original, that's perfectly fine. if you like the delivery of the yell, that's also fine. they're two different scenes with different contexts behind them. one is goblin's calling card, while the other is more of a taunt accompanying an attack. regardless, your opinion is your opinion, and i won't bash you for liking one or the other. i simply ask that you look for reasoning further than "yell = bad line"

I just realized that Goblin was very likely pulled at the point that he was on his way to Peter’s house. Think about it. He was on his way to terrorize aunt May and then he was pulled to the MCU. His first thought would be to head straight for May since he figured she likely existed there too. He’s very much in the same mindset as he was during that moment and that’s why he repeats the line. Since he was pulled earlier than the phone call he likely was saying it for the first time. Edit: also the villains were pulled a little after they learned Peter was Spider-Man, not before they were about to die. Sandman and Lizard didn’t die in their movies. Sandman was likely pulled after talking to Peter at the end, and Lizard was likely pulled around the time he terrorized the high school. Lizard had his plan set up already so it would be only during this time.

I loved how Ock’s arms did the slightest raise, like a dog raising its hair at danger. Adored that he got redeemed even further in this timeline.

Interesting that when he says it in the 2002 film it’s right before the scene where he gives Peter the choice of mj vs the children (where mj would inevitably get dropped by goblin) and in this scene in NWH green goblin says that and with that first attack he knocks mj off the ledge which sends her falling to her death. Nice little callout there.

Rarely in these MCU films do I feel like the villains are genuinely a threat... there's always this voice in the back of my head reminding me: "Ah, this is just the villain of the week, they're gonna lose". But any time Norman swapped over to Goblin's persona, the voice in my head kept saying: "Uh oh... this guy is problems." He has an unhinged, desperate hatred for Spider-Man, and when he's around, you know something bad is going to happen.

Imagine you heard these very words after the Goblin attacked your aunt which gave her a trauma. He relived everything what he went through after hearing these exact words again

Tobey 2002: it’s you! Tobey 2021: I know that voice!

*Tobey:* “Did he tell you he was something of a scientist himself?” *Tom:* “Yeah. How’d you know?” *Tobey:* “Oh my god, it is him.” *Andrew:* “Man, you guys are always doing the cool stuff. I got a lame Goblin.” *Tobey:* “Don’t worry, I got that, too.”

2002 is better for me because Goblin is just calm, some people say this is like a serial killer calling and I can see their point, which makes it genuinely terrifying. And you can see Tobey’s wonderful emotions in his eyes changing from fear to anger to determination. It’s less dramatic and more subtle, and gives you a real sense of terror.

All I wish was that there was more interaction between Tobey and Goblin. Imagine Goblin saying something like "Hello old friend looks like I couldn't turn you, but don't worry me and the kid are gonna have a heck of a time"

As Eggman said in STH 2005: "U know what they say, "The more, the merrier!" And it makes sense considering that this be the greatest live-action Spiderman movie ever made. (Now with nostalgia too!)

I caught this one in the cinema, I actually cheered along with some fully grown adults who were right at the back of the cinema. At the end we all cried together and got boba even though it was like 10pm💀

Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, weirdly enough, is what solidified this as a multiverse for me; to me, he is THE Spiderman Villain.

I just watched this yesterday and I was thinking as I watched it and at the end it was a 9.5 and I was thinking about what could’ve made it a 10 And I have decided. imagine when there doing the portal thing to let tobey and Andrews Spider-Man in they do a third one and have a live action miles morales come in that would’ve exceeded my expectations and I think that’s what a 10 must do

Remember that Tobey’s Spider-Man in this time is much older than when we last saw him and is a lot more experienced. He’s no doubt had many more adventures and encountered many more foes over the years since his last movie. But you can see how much the Green Goblin still has an impact on his life just from his expression to the sound of his voice. Goblin was and probably still is Peter’s greatest villain mainly because he was his first and nearly broke him which made him who he is. But imagine after all that time several years later you hear the voice that still haunts your dreams to this very day and clearly see the man you saw die before your eyes coming straight at you in flesh and blood screaming *”Can the Spider-Man come out to play?!”* Truly traumatized and brings a whole new meaning to reviving your inner demons.

Goblin had the AUDACITY to attack aunt may. Tobey and Tom BATTERED him in their own movies, in cinemas, i was silently egging on Tom like"YESSSS HIT HIM HARDERRRRRRR" Dont mess with May..

Man willem defoe was the best part of this film, loved seeing the three spidermen together but the fight scenes, the action and the pure insanity that willem defoe brought with goblin is unmatched. In my opinion hes the best villain we have ever got on screen maybe on par with heathes joker. It was nice to get a villain in the MCU that was just pure evil instead of having some sop story or political agenda that made them that way.

I still wished they put those two together again, even for a quick chat. They made it seem like they didn’t know each other. Only thing that highly disappointed me.
