Part two of my adventures at the Crater of diamond State park public diamond mine.
The Crater of Diamonds State Park is the only public diamond mine in the world, where ANYONE can mine and find real diamonds.
Diamonds here are hard to find, but today we have a team effort going to find this amazing treasure mother nature hid for us.
Please Check out these other amazing RU-vidrs I got to spend time with on this trip:
Frank and Kyndal "That Camping Couple" - @That Camping Couple
Brian "The Crystal Collector" - @The Crystal Collector
Paul "Pioneer Pauly" - @PioneerPauly

i have been there probably 30 times. There was a man named James that went there every day for about twenty years. He put his daughter through college on diamonds. He would dig about a a5 foot hole down to the big rocks and take out bucket loads of soil. then he would take it home and go through it. Always found at least one diamond per day.

@Dan Hurd Seeing Polly have a hard time flipping those sieves gave me an idea. At the equatorial points on the sides of the sieves add a couple wing nuts but drill the holes larger than the threads so they don't stick and can rotate freely. Put in a cpl rubber spacers to avoid seizings. The wing nuts on each side will facilitate the flipping of the sieves with ease.

What a wonderful character you are Dan, tell me here in South Africa we have some diamonds and I have seen them running the small aggregate stone over a grease table, as diamonds will stick to the grease and scraped off, are you able to do something similar? Ow to be shure if it's a diamond: take a beaker with liquid oxygen, heat the stone with a propane torch redhot and then throw the stone in the liquid oxygen. If it burns it was a diamond.

Hey Dan, I was using the techniques that you teach on your channel yesterday and I found decent gold on A creek that I've been told time and again that " There ain't no gold in that creek"! I've been prospecting for about fifteen years now and around here its hit or miss. You've got to go south to Southern Oregon or east to the Ochoco, but there are two old mining districts in my general area, but they're all claimed up. This creek isn't on any of the maps or general knowledge of the area, but I found a decent pocket of gold yesterday. Its flour gold, but that's what you find in this area. Thanx Dan. You're knowledge is adding to my bag of tricks that I learned from my father (who is a geologist and gold mine owner and prospector) and he says he's been learning from you too. He's fighting cancer right now, but when he's won his fight we're heading back out to find some color. Thanx for all you do. We really appreciate it.

Hi Dan, I really enjoy your channel. I used to work for a tribe of First Nations wonderful people from Northern California. The chief would council me and one thing that I never forgot was what he told me. Don’t laugh 😆 and smile to much. This goes back thousands of years. People will think your crazy. How many old photos have you seen where the people are smiling. Very few. I think one thing is mercury would effect the miners nervous systems and they would laugh and act crazy all the time. 😜😆🤪

The diamond miner uses a long rod to find river gravel and heavy rounded rocks close to a meter deep and sluices all of that stuff
@ChrisWilson999
@ChrisWilson999 2 года назад
Bingo. This was what they're missing. Locals spend all day with rods in the muck finding and collecting the right gravel. They push the rods down until they hear the right gravel layer. Remove the overburden and muck. Fill buckets all day with that gravel. Washing and checking for stones is done in an hour. It' a much coarser almost pea gravel sized. After 20 buckets of mostly gravel more than 5 diamonds is common.

I wish I could learn with you, and finding some gold. This is a things that in this country we can't find. I could try in some places, but for sure is no gold. I'm from Romania 🇷🇴, I don't know there. But here, I think I can't find gold, living near beach, so... Difficult, I go with the metal detector, I found some things, here is illegal, so... You can check and se what I found, I try to go to the beach, but is not turism yet, summer is close, so I'll go in June, and filming what I will find

Truly, the best part of COD is that you will meet some really nice people. It doesn't hurt that it's free, paid for by the people of Arkansas. And yes, it is _hard_ work, and the odds are you likely won't find anything super valuable, or even at all. You will get messy, tired and make a memory that lasts a lifetime. It is out there, lot's of God's country in central Arkansas. A lot of people use dry wash sifters there. (It's kind of like horse race betting; everybody has a 'system'). Hey, fall and spring are the best times. It does get pretty cold out there in winter, the weather can change literally overnight from the upper 50's to the upper 30's or even lower in 12 hours, and CenArk summers are hot and humid. If you've never been down here, well, there is a movement to change our state bird to the Striped Mosquito. Ticks are also a problem in this area, and if you get out into the grass chiggers are a possibility, so lots and lots of insect repellent is recommended. BIG hats and sunscreen; you folks from places where you don't trust air you can't see have *no* idea how intense the sun is here. Nothing worse than a nice sunburn on the first day of vacation. It's pretty far out away from, well, anywhere most folks would consider "a city" and the towns around it (which aren't *really* all that close either) are pretty small and offer very little. Bring what ya need!

A few Q's for you then I will let you go!!! One) Why not spin the dirt in home made machine that lets the dirt fly out like salad drying machine??? Two) How do you truly know what is and what is not a diamond by looks??? Experience tells me there has to be a test to tell not the eye!!! How about a a stainless rectangle pan 4 to 6 deep and 3 foot by 4 foot and metal rolling pin... Now crush every thing and the diamonds are that last thing standing!!! Do not take any bodies word for any thing as they have a tendency to lie, friend or foe, or do not know for sure!!!!!

If I recall correctly, the SA minors used to wash the concentrated over a greased iron plate. Since diamonds do not wet like most other stones, they would stick to the grease and were periodically scraped off. Is my memory faulty and is there some reason that method is not used at CoD State Park?
