Makita makes great tools! My power tool set is a Milwaukee fuel set which I love but if it wasn’t rocking Milwaukee, Makita is a very close second. Great ergonomics and I feel like the quality is on par with Milwaukee.

I’ve got the big one of these, absolutely amazing, and heavy (4kgs), now I see they make a much smaller dual trigger version that is 1.6kgs with battery … so I will buy that too. These tools are absolutely fantastic!!! Can use them in the garden on trees with a green/wet tree saw blade. Or even fine tooth for copper and metal. Add a carbide tipped Diablo blade to go through 1/4 inch steel nails and virtually anything else

Looks good and great review, I personally love that tool, but I got a mains power titan for £30 and prob does same job and when it buggers up they give you a new one.

I've cut tile and plaster with a reciprocating saw before but you need to use either a carbide grit or diamond grit blade and they'll last a long time cutting those materials

I have the Dewalt compact battery recipsaw. Just like this one I suppose. The absolute best thing about these things is: no more cord hassle and the small size gets (almost) everywhere. Does this have a 4 position blade as well?

Roger, could you review some budget power tools eg titan,bauker,work zone. See how they perform. Not as good as the big brands obviously but could be interesting to have a look

In the US, it's included in the cost of the rental agreement. But my point is, that the contractors do not have to separate it themselves.

I’ve recently brought the full size 18volt Makita recip and have to say I’ve never had one before but for rip out it’s the top tool. Surprised how much I actually do use it. Might try those demo blades

@Adam I have one of those and use demolition blades. A few days ago I was sawing through a wall partition. Someone had secured the studwork to an adjacent wall with a shelf bracket (???). I couldn't see it at the time but I was sawing down through the plaster, screws and the body of the bracket (not just the arms) with ease.

Hi Roger I think it will be fun and intersting if you film your renovation projects as it's a very popular among DIYers to watch ronevation projects and I think that it will bump up your subscription and viewership. Thanks.

So not as agile as the dewalt, but more powerful than most hackzalls(especially 12v)?
@wmurphy1979

3 charges don't know how much you make on jobs bud but that wall would have down before that . and I think the Milwaukee 12 v is the best for tight spaces.

The backing plate is adjustable so pull it out a little and new teeth are in the cut.

I don’t know about Makita anymore. I fancy the Dewalt 60v stuff now, would probably buy into that line.

i have the Flexvolt circular saw and the flexvolt track saw. My god they are just like using mains powered tools. after using makita cordless tools for 10 years, they are just in another league in terms of power. I always find makita is super ergonomic but i would pick power over ergonomics any day.

I'm in construction and Dewalt breaks down in little ways compared to Makita. The quick release on the recip saw is malfunctioning to one degree or another on both my coworkers dewalts. The foldable LED light doesn't want to hold its position. The Dewalt chargers are flimsy and slower and do not offer the cooling and protections of the Makita line. I would say the Milwaukee Hackzall is the superior tool by a decent amount however this sub compact seems to be a worthy contender for those of us committed to the Makita line. I will be adding one to my Makita arsenal soon.

any difference between this and the black Makita subcompact saw
@colinblythe3710
@colinblythe3710 6 лет назад
Hi NO there both the same tool the black version was introduced in the USA about 1 year ago - called the "sub compact" range - (loads of videos on here under that name) - they had a different model number as all Makita do for the USA market - they have just started hitting the UK in the black version- I have the DHP483 drill its tiny but has some power for the size

They appear to be the same saw. Makita uses different part numbers in different regions for some reason.

when you habve a problems with battery charging and if you can just buy 4 batteries and charge them in one go and then just snap then, replace them and do not wait for it to charge that is what you do when you hhave only one..

Exactly! As we do it in Germany. It's called sorting and recycling en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recycling

People will not pay hundreds of dollars for multiple dumpsters. When they can throw it all in one. It's not like you can put construction materials out on trash pickup day. At least in the states you cans.

yea it works like a champ, we renovated the entire roof and it did it in 2x 1.5AH batteries leaving the second at half charge. VERY impressed and our hands dont hurt at all. we were wrestling oldschool bosch drills half the time before we got this monster. 170NM really works!

Looks very multipurpose. My ryobi stuff has better battery life probably. But I an only 16 and have never ripped out a bathroom. Also this is obviously much tougher and smoother than ryobi. Ps: if you use the right blade and slow down the speed could it use less battery?
@mikezeke7041

Yeah... sorry to say, but the hackzall has set the bar, fuel hackzall raised that bar. No other compact fits up in joist bays and other tight spaces with as much power as fuel hackzall. Add to that it will run on a 2.0 all the way up to a 12.0.
@nubscrub
@nubscrub 6 лет назад
Does the fuel hackzall have more power than this makita or the fuel sawzall?
@mikezeke7041
@mikezeke7041 6 лет назад
nubscrub I haven’t used this makita, but the fuel hackzall has as much power as most brushed sawzalls from other brands, not as much as fuel sawzall, part is the stroke is shorter. As a plumber the in-line design lets me get up into tight spots. It tears through 2” galvanized steel. Idealistically and durability wise I prefer Makita, but Milwaukee is catering to my trade. Have used hackzall with a diamond blade to cut 4” and 5” cast iron soil pipe.
@loktom4068
@loktom4068 6 лет назад
Mike Zeke Have you tried the metal cutting carbide saw blade called Speed Demon from Milwaukee ? Quite awesome cutting power.
@mikezeke7041
@mikezeke7041 6 лет назад
Lok Tom I’ve used the new torch ones. Badly disappointed. They do not cut cast iron at any reasonable speed, and even steel pipe is slower because the kerf I’d large. Cuts rebar ok, but they do not seem to last. $15 wasted. I’ll stick with diablo blades. The variable tooth blades cut steel, plastic, and wood well, plus they are cheap.

It's not a £500 tool if you already have the Makita batteries and charger. It's more like £120 excluding VAT.

The Milwaukee blows that away, even the dewalt XR compact is better.....that is overpriced and underwhelming
@greenskiis

lol Dewalt's recips are so much worse than both Milwaukee and Makita's. They always come in after them in recip shootouts.

So you loving this tool has nothing to do with Makita lending it to you, I suppose? This is horse shit, you can't review tools when you owe something to the manufacturer.
