Mudryk strikes me as having a case of chronic stage fright. Everyone remember him balling out on his debut v Liverpool? Confidence is everything to some players, now he seems a shadow of his former self. I'm desperate for him to succeed but ultimately you have to believe in your abilities, take your chances when they come and have that mental strength at the highest level.

I don’t know much about Paez except he has played as a LW CAM and CM. Wouldn’t it be great if he could play that dual 6/10 roll that Enzo and KDH currently occupy. To me, Santos is our real star that’s seriously impressing in the back ground. A player that has real leadership and can control a game completely. A tidy player who offers versatility. That being said, seems his best position is 6. I adore Caicedo and Lavia. It really makes it hard to see who locks down that position in 2 or 3 years.

We need to stop with the 6-10 hybrid nonsense. We have brilliant 6's that are utterly mediocre as 10's and we have great 10's that are worthless as 6's. Just play a double 6 midfield in front of a back three, play a double 10 in front of that, have some wide players that are comfortable up and down the pitch, and then get a flexible striker that can do regular 9, false 9, or rotate with a wide player or one of the 10's.

@@DrBased123 because of the constant injury? If so I do agree. However, he wasn’t this bad at Southampton. His profile is 100% a Maresca fit and I think we’ve all seen that. Let’s hope it’s not a Reece James, more of a once he gets past it business as usual. I do think this is why Maresca isn’t keen to build the team around the like of Nkunku (plus a certain Cole Palmer, who shares the same best position). But he doesn’t seem to apply the same methodology around Fofana.

@@Monochromatic_Spider haha that’s gold. So we get hybrid wingers that are an 7 and a 2. A 11 and a 3? Come on, that’s not solving a single problem. You’d be much better to find a 6/10 as there isn’t that much difference in the positions. It’s basically an 8 with a few small adjustments. We had Cucu playing a 3/10 in the last game which looked ok, but not enough movement through the middle. We became predictable. Plus you should always try and have a midfield tackling from a retrieving position/blind side to allow quicker turn overs. Jackson is a 9/10 player. Although he receives in the 10 position, he doesn’t have the creativity of a 10. More of a pass and move style 10. Harry Kane and Benzema were much better at that but don’t have that Jackson pace. But made up for it with great finishing.

@@florme6494 I'm not saying we should get wingbacks. I'm saying we use wingers that will at least pretend to actually defend but mainly trust the back 5 to handle the defense. The idea that we need three CB's, a double-six, and actual wingbacks on top is Conte-style thinking, IMO. Playing with that much defense leads to an inability to do anything in organized attacks, at which point the only recourse is giving the other team possession and inviting them up the pitch so we can have another go at a counter-attack. Which then in turn forces us to play with 7 defenders to handle the pressure. And we're not better off trying to get 6-10 hybrids, as that would mean dumping both our stock if top tier 10's and our a stock of top tier 6's. That's really the problem here. We have Nkunku and Palmer and both pretty much have to play. Palmer because he's too good to not use, and Nkunku because he's the only quality finisher. Then there's Felix and Chuk. KDH is kind of wasting if he's not that high on the pitch. Paez will join and he's also a player that probably should be in that area. How do we make that happen? Trying to hack it with deeper players that are pushed too high and offer no threat whatsoever is a great way to make everybody look worse than they are while not getting much of anything out of the 10's we have.

Neto,Sancho RW/LW Palmer,Felix CAM Felix RW/LW Madueke,Palmer(Estevao) RW Mudryk's best hope is to get a loan with daddy De Zerbi who is very capable with making wingers deliver and loves Mudryk. That would either get the best out of Mudryk and get him back if anyone of the wingers mentioned wouldn't deliver or increase his current value which is only plummeting so we can sell and recover some of our investment.

I can see it happening we sell Mudryk and he starts balling and playing great for a new team. Some players just don’t work out for certain clubs but great for others. He needs to move on for his own career.

I’m a huge Mudryk fan and I’m really rooting for him to come good at Chelsea. But he clearly has not found his confidence yet at CFC, let alone hit his stride, so it’s hard to see how it’s possible to say he’s the best at Chelsea, even if we’re conjecturing about potential.

What seems obvious is that we're going to have to switch to a double 10 kind of system. There's just too many players that are entirely too good to keep doing something silly like playing Enzo Fernandez as a pseudo-10 next to Palmer while Nkunku is bored on the bench. Not to mention Felix, Chuk, and Paez when we get him. And if we use them out of position to force them into a lineup then they won't be at their best and we might as well not have them.

A few years ago, I had a real FIFA mentality; I truly thought there was never too much talent. 2 completely 11’s meant we could field a competent team in every competition. Fast forward to now, and I fear we are stacking talent that won’t get a chance to blossom. So many players want or need to play in the same position. Estevao and Kendry really need consistent minutes at their age. We need Palmer playing. Nkunku and Felix are almost after thoughts. We really need to make some decisions with the roster this year, in order to gel and start trying to reach so many players potential. The choices we make will push us forward or set us back.

Mudryk may not be upto Chelsea standards, and at least not in the current shape when we are trying to build combinations and on pitch camaraderie between players. If sold, he would also be like the curious case of Mo Salah. I think we bought him a year or two early.

Why'd they even think of selling Mudryk now ? They shouldn't make that mistake of the past when they sold KDB n Mohamed Salah who later on turned up super stars so in my personal opinion Mudryk has the potential to develop to become a future prospects in the near future so instead of selling him the should rather send him out on loan to Strasbourg for further development so that when he pickup form then he can come back to the squad to add his cotter, why's this new owners in hurry to sell our future super star, does it make sense ? But I definitely think there has been MANY missteps and over eagerness i get we had a difficult start with coming off a ban and having players like Rudiger and AC leaving for free. The team now gives me more confidence of going in the right direction but I need to see how seasons end to really determine if it’s not just fools gold
