You know... it's a pleasure watching Tim's videos, because he clearly loves what he does and loves being an educator. And he has just the BEST GUITARS!!!
Just purchased a Bad Cat 1x12 combo! Very versatile and built beautifully! I'll be taking it to rock the great beyond when my time in this life is done!
I've been an unabashed Mesa fan boy for years, but Badcat absolutely killed it with their line up. There isn't a single model I didn't love the tone from. The Lynx absolutely kills the heavy while fat sounds yet still keeps things pretty well defined. It's like the tone I've had in my head came alive.
All though I am not a guitar player. I really do appreciate how you find your place in any song you do and do not over stay your welcome be it with Rick Springfield, Peter Cetera, Phil Collins. Always enjoy your work with Rick from Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me up to Tao. I always wonder it Tao was hard to make has that seems more Synth heavy. I can detect your playing on it but it seems so different. Plus SFO from Hard To Hold it just sounds like you and Rick was having a blast just rocking out.
There are so many great Amps. It all depends on your taste. My favorite is Fender, Marshall, and Mesa Boogie. Take care. 😎👍👌💯. We never really grow up. We just get older. Good video by Kemosabe. 😉😉
I will just leave a like and a comment here.. Nevermind me.... I'm just passing by...i like Ola too...sometimes I like guitar related stuff... Just passing by... Thank you sir Tim Pierce. I bet we could make you chug in no time. I have learned so much from you. Thank you sir. ☺️
Wow sounds fantastic! gooey splatty, squeaky, tube-ey goodness all day long! a little pricey but if it is point to point it's likely not going to need as much servicing and when it does it's more repairman friendly so cheaper in the long run maybe?
If the guitar player has 7 strings then the bass player only needs 3 strings lol I hate that drop D it's just to dark for me so I'll just play 6 strings and keep it up beat unless I play some "fair warning" stuff that is some great 🎸 playing
That amp sounds AMAZING; rich tone and clear note definition at all levels of overdrive. With 3-band tone knobs and smooth gate controls, it's a home run!
I have a Diezel VH2 (2 channel version of VH4) and this Bad Cat Lynx 50w handwired too, and the Bad Cat has more than twice the gain of the Diezel on High Gain channel....this Bad Cat has monster Gain even on the Crunch channel (GAIN 1)..without any boost or pedal....if you put a 12ax7 7025 EH on V1 and aTAD 12AX7 RED BASE on V2 you increase the tightness and definition a lot over the stock preamp valves.....and you have the same exact body and gain and sustain even at volumes lower than bedroom volume....monster Noise Gate is nice, but useless cause this amp is very quiet for the gain it has
Tim, time to give up and admit it, you love the 80s hi gain sound. Whether this video or the SLO video your expressions give away just how much you like it every time you go back to it.
The vh4 is popular for its brutal yet beautiful high gain indeed. But it’s also an insanely flexible amp. It’ll cover pretty much all genres from rockabilly to death metal. The lynx is a great amp and may even be better than the vh4 in certain applications. But if I had a chance to choose between a lynx and vh4 it would be a total no brainer. Give me the vh4
In case you weren't aware, that "chug" wasn't a chug at all, it sounded more like mud. A true chug has far more clarity than that. Yours sounded truly awful. That said, I think you should revisit Ola's channel and open up your ears.
You are the best Tim, I'm looking so long for getting me some lesson time from your skillset. Unfortunately I wasn't able due to "no time", "later", "I keep the free period" ... I'm now close to say "ahh... get it. He's the best!" Would really like to meet you in person, you always seam to be such a nice guy to hang around. Unfortunately you and also me are very busy all the time. Maybe one time.... Keep on going, you are the best!
Every old guy is a rockstar with a collection of amps but i bet you work for a production company as nobody makes money from music 1 million streams £30 nobody needs those old tube amps that fry themselves dead and cost hundreds to fix when a simple capacitor goes bad. This is the future go and play the amps in rehearsal rooms don't anything new and don't take advice from a youtube channel it's salesman tactics.
The amp sounds great imo. The price is very reasonable for a USA made from a small company these days. I still think the VH4 or the Herbert are hard to beat if you have the cash.

@@marcopanza1011What's the Lynx tone topology? Is it in SLO or JCM field? I've read on their website that the Lynx's got 7 stages gain. I can't even imagine how much is that... It probably superpasses the EVH. Probably even more gain than the Herbert.
Great video! I have had the Bad Cat Lynx X since it came out a few years ago. Got it for the high gain, stayed for the cleans! Such a fun amp. Playing the Lynx through the Bad Cat 4x12 cab or an oversized Mesa is the perfect combo.
@@jarredbaca8112 honestly, it’s a Tough call. I believe they are the same size. The bad cat is extremely heavy. It’s amazing. It’s probably a toss up on speakers at that point. The bad cat speakers are a little warmer to me than v30’s. I don’t know what Mesa is using now. But the UK made celestions bad cat has made for them are killer. I’d personally go bad cat. You can sit in front of those speakers for a longer period of time without ear fatigue
killer Jazz amp. maybe not enough gain though. but seriously, they have some sweet sounding amps, I'm kinda like you with taste, edge of break up mostly. i think it's got more to it than just high gain metal tones.
it is not a jazz amp..it is a hard rock-metal amp and believe me I have a Diezel VH2, 5150 III and Engl amps, and this bad Cat has more than twice the gain of the Dieze....and this with gain set at 2-3/10 with no boost or pedal....so...but with incredible touch response and dynamics (it's always a handwired amp and it shows) and very low noise for the gain...it has 7 cascaded gain stages...as a 5150 III....
