Love the car and super glad your son is showing interest. A possible life long bond . I had a car bond with my father. He is gone now(1994) but it remains. Keep going brother. We are rooting for you.
When I deal with a single stage paint that is oxidized and faded I always wet sand with 1500 grit first. Then, break out the rubbing compound and polish it will save a lot of time removing the heavy stuff.
Come up real good. Just a suggestion. You might consider a black or white vinyl top for the roof. Use a slapper and dolly to get the creases out first.
congratulations on the shine work. With all the engine work you do, changing up every so often is good. Doing paint correction on original paint from the 60's and 70's is the best imho. The patina can be preserved with several concoctions or by old school wax. I'm looking forward to seeing more progress. Maybe the QC Manager can be more proactive and helpful.
