I've been trying the same. Democratic Poland is a real challenge, at least for me. I did manage to get into a decent stalemate most recently, but the soviets got around me with a big naval invasion.

I think I've got this one in the bag, though the Japanese Shogunate joined the Axis and is delaying the peace deal after Germany and Japan capitulated. I'm pretty confident I can defeat the Soviet Union since they're losing ground to Japan. I also defeated a fascist French/Spanish Latin Entente and got Britain in the Miedzymorze. If you rush Miedzymorze invitations, the alliance can become quite substantial. Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Yugoslavia, Greece or Turkey... plus anyone who joins if you guarantee them. Poland saves the world.

You can also release a tiny one state Ukraine as Romania. The downside, of course, is that one state is part of the land the Soviets demand from the Romanians. The Ukrainians just can't catch a break, can they?

I have had a few multiplayer games in which either Romania or Poland releases them selfs as Ukraine and I return territory to them (since Russia can’t release nations and then they would need to hotjoin if I did it that way)

Taureor should have at least annexed Poland in order to release the fully Ukrainian state, as the polish occupied and stirred up anti Semitic Ukrainian nationalist tensions in Lvov, ivano, etc

Yes, Trotsky was a fanatical supporter of the idea of Permanent Revolution, which in turn would lead to greater instability in the world. Stalin believed rather in keeping and defending what they already had, which well, was Stalin. As he was in charge, change and instability would threaten his position.

Bukharin works better for the concept of this run, but Trotsky wan't a fan of the Russian supremacism that the USSR supported. He himself was Ukrainian.

That’s not at all what the theory of permanent revolution is. In Marxism, permanent revolution is a strategy of maintaining the proletariat, its institutions, its goals and its demands completely independent from the bourgeoisie (and other reactionary classes) and its own interests. If you want I can explain further, but there’s a lot, so that’s essentially what it is. As for Trotsky, there’s a big difference between the Marxist definition of permanent revolution and the Trotskyist definition, but likely not what you think. Essentially, Marx and Engels insisted that for an organized proletariat to exist, the nation in which they arise must be industrialized and ruled by the capitalist class and bourgeoisie. However, Trotsky changed the definition by allowing the possibility that the proletariat may conduct permanent revolution with the help of an allied peasant class in highly rural countries who were ruled by feudal-like aristocrats and such, like in Tsarist Russia, without an intermediate period of capitalism, industrialization and rule by a bourgeois capitalist class. You may notice that in both definitions, it is an explicitly internationalist (which is different from globalism by the way) idea. It doesn’t aim to bring other nations into the sphere of influence of one other specific nation, or to conquer, rather it invites the working classes of the world to aid each other against the ruling classes. The reason many interpret the theory of permanent revolution as aggressive is because they don’t understand that the proletariat isn’t united by nation, but by class. This completely changes the context of certain actions. For example, what a capitalist (imperialist at this point) state like the US might do to destabilize a region in order to gain access to its natural resources, a proletarian government would do to organize the region’s workers so they can install their own proletariat government. The key difference here is that one aims to expand the influence of a state, while the other is simply aiding the locals to give them the power to make their own decisions collectively. In my personal observations, international unions such as the IWW are a similar, if less militant, version of this idea.

There's also a mod out there that lets you play as an independent Ukraine with a crap ton of national focuses on the workshop, it's a bit of a work in progress but it gives you a lot of options.

@@NMahon, Pilsudski started it first by undergoing his own imperialist ambition of resurrecting the former Commonwealth by invading Ukraine and Belarus in 1919. The resultant Soviet counteroffensive is just a reaction to the Polish imperialist ambition, too bad they were stopped in just east of Warsawa in 1920. In fact, Ukrainian recognition of Bandera's 'heroism' in WW2 has been debated by Poland until recently because of their activities in Galicia back then.
