I walk like 10 km everyday and I can tell you, it saved my life. You feel happy, you have 2 hours of time while walking and you can use that time by listening auido books etc. It also affects your sex life as well, believe me your lady will love your performance. I was in the best shape of my life when my work consisted of walking 8 hours a day. I also cycled 30mins to work and went to the gym after work. The eating was brutal but I was building muscle as well as losing bodyfat. At that time I cut out all tablesugar and wheat from my diet so I think I was very efficient in getting as much good nutrition as well as energy with my food. Now covid has changed things a little. It would have to be a SHIT TON of Walking to actually impede gains. Most men these days deeply undervalue the importance of walking. I personally think it should be a cornerstone of every training program. Because you could walk most every day for 10k steps and you'll be totally fine... Honestly, there's way more guys out there who're only lifting weights for 30 mins - 1 hour and then sitting throughout the rest of the day. And that is way more harmful to your cardiovascular health and makes it much harder to lose body fat...

This is the truth. And people should be active during the rest of the day, so you can walk 40-60 or 90 minutes and still gain muscle if you want to progress with that. Remember: your health is more important than lift 150 kg of bench. Improve your health in general!!!

Lifting weights for an hour can easily keep you in zone 2 for that hour, whilst depleting more of your energy stores than walking alone. A muscular physique requires more energy overall to maintain as well. Walking is fantastic, as is cycling, jogging, really most movement. It's all about moving and doing what gets you toward your own goals. My goals are maintaining strength as well as preventing heart disease that runs in my family, so I zone 2 cardio daily and lift every other day, as well as staying off my ass the rest of the day, because the best exercise you get is from all your other day to day activities, if you aren't sedentary.

Synopsis: long cardio becomes a problem for highly trained individuals because you can not simultaneously be a great sprinter and a great marathoner. You can become good at both things, but as you approach the highest levels, that which makes you a good sprinter prevents you from improving. So the body starts diminishing your sprinting to help your marathoning

@DIVISIONINCISION
@DIVISIONINCISION 3 года назад
It depends on what kind of lifting you're doing. For power-lifting or heavy strength-training, do not walk everyday. I power-walk for three miles uphill at about 4mph max two or three times/week. The cardio is in-between work out days. It keeps my endurance primed for the lifting, which are 1 hour sessions. Most people in the gym don't lift heavy to begin with, so none of this applies to them. For those of you who are intense trainers, you need to find the "sweet spot".

You're not walking enough as a waitress to hurt gains. Even if you were, all you'd need to do is increase calories. The problem is that you might not be lifting heavy enough to justify any added calories. Women gain bodyfat easier than men.

Yeah probably lol. 30k steps a day is insane. I've been walking 7.4 miles a day recently, have it mapped out on my gps so it equals roughly 15k steps. I don't have some sort of fitbit to monitor it but i can't imagine walkng 30k steps a day. On top of doing construction. Back when i worked for a busy moving company, i simply could not put on any upper body muscle despite how ripped my calves were. Just couldn't eat enough to replace all the calories i burned throughout the day. Drinking 3 cans of pop probably didn't help me though lmfao. Now i lift weights 3-4 times a week along with the 15k steps and the gains have been great. I eat 8 eggs a day and cut out all the sugar. Eat as much meat as i can and im starting to get cut!

The energy syste use talk is just wrong, the body will use glycogen mostly when the activty is very high in intensity think in terms of reps that will be typically 3-6 reps also in 1-4 rep range depending on your speed and training capacity. 1-4 reps will very much use alot of ATP and as a result use alot of glycogen to help refuel the ATP stores, Then you have the glycolitc system which uses alot of glycogen, mostly 4-8 reps or so beyond on that the energy use switches more towards using the bodys stored body fat for energy. If you walk roughly 80% of the energy spend on walking is being burnt from fat, now if you were to do light running that could easly jump to 50/50 and with sprinting 80% or higher on glycogen. none of this means that you will burn more fat by walking vs running. It simply means per 100 kcals of energy burned 80% of it will be fat in walking and 80% or higher will be glycogen if you run or light very heavy.

This may just be a US vs UK translation issue, but this video made perfect sense provided I change every time he said "cardio" with "aerobic exercise". If you're serious about building strength, there's no reason to walk 6 miles/day. It becomes counter-productive.

Too much walking shrunk my legs, even though I ate enough, the same for biking, but not sprinting. Your muscles adapt to whatever you force them to do.

Fast twitch fibers grow bigger in size than slow twitch. Fast twitch are for short bursts such as sprinting and weight training that use mostly ATP as energy source which is short lived. Slow twitch fibers on the other hand are for endurance and they are smaller in size so they utilize oxygen more for fuel. Walking and jogging build slow twitch muscle fibers.

They Say The Average Person Should Walk 5 Miles A Day. 9 Miles A Day Shouldn't Be Too Much🚶🏽
