Think it will give you more pride + satisfaction when the kitchen is finished knowing you built it rather than just assembled it! Great job!!

Great to see someone having a go and doing a really good job of it!! Couple of points that may help though, laminate trimmers should be run in an anti clockwise direction so they cut/bite into the material. Would it not have been easier to drill pilot holes in the back of the cabinets then drill through them to mark for the rib nuts? Keep up the good work, will look the nuts when finished!

Thanks mark. I learnt that the hard way. On my victron build video I decided to use some sharpened bolts and a hammer to mark where it drill. Worked a treat. Thanks for the tips.

Will be interesting to see the final weight. Been watching your entire build. Nice workshop setup & progress. I've seen at least one build use plastic boards for flooring & internal panels because it's lighter than ply.

Yer I’m nervous I hope we are under and all the effort to save a bit of weight was worth it. Thanks for the support. Yer I’ve seen that two but as a first time builder I think I would have been in over my head. I did look at the materials but a bit of an unknown. It’s a Great build that.

Looking great - just a thought as I'm watching you put the shelves in the narrow cabinet - why not drill a series of holes for pegs like you get in the flat pack stuff?
@abucklife

Thanks frank. So I was going to order some and I wanted to get it done that day. Also I don’t want it to rattle so screwed in and it’s not going anywhere.

Hi. Great build, youre doing great, and im enjoying the journey, getting ready for my journey soon, just trying to accumulate my list of suppliers and which materials. Where did you get the ducting and vents?
@abucklife
@abucklife 21 день назад
Thank you Craig. Exciting time ahead for you. My number one tip to anyone doing a build would have it all there ready to go if possible we couldn’t because of cost. But if we did it again I would try. I will have to ask Ginny. Not sure. I think they are webasto ones.

Great video mate are you a chippy by trade as you seem to have all the tools Keep up the good videos 👍

Kinda ish mate but not. I’m a teacher by trade. I trained as a design and technology teacher and kinda fell into teaching construction. I had a Saturday job for many years working with a builder friend of mine. Plus I like an excuse to buy a tool and love an old bit of used machinery.

Why did you go for a gloss finish? I’m debating wether to use a gloss or matt finish, I’m sure you’ll have a good reason I haven’t thought of. 👍

Nice van. Door catches... lol. i particularly hate those catches that push in to lock, click click! I've seen other builders use some that are flush but lift up like a door pull to open then lock by just letting go, seem much more elegant. I think they from the boating world.

I’m doing a refit this winter, just buying the materials now, I’ve brought those same catches thinking there Metal !!. Very disappointed. Where did you get the ply from? I was looking at Moreland but there very slow on sending me samples.
@abucklife
@abucklife 29 дней назад
I know right. Super cheap and annoying. Tbf they seem to work ok for now but still I wanted metal. We got the ply from uk leisure parts in Barnsley. Very good quality and service. I can’t believe you are doing a refit on the van already.

@@abucklife yer I rush getting it done so I could use it this summer, just to see what works for me, now I’ve used it a lot there a few things I’m going to change, I don’t like the bare ply either. Lack of storage is the main problem. Is your ply a gloss finish? Also any problems with the laminate splintering when cutting?
@abucklife
@abucklife 29 дней назад
Good idea to find out what you like. Not really many problems with splintering but I did buy fine blades for all the tools which has helped. It’s not cheap the ply though.
@exploresandtosummit
@exploresandtosummit 29 дней назад
@@abucklife nothing is cheap anymore! Using it makes you think of different ways of doing things. Yours is looking great, I’m sure you using it a lot once you’ve finished it, ( buy the way a camper van is never finished ) 👍

Same lol I bought 5 using two for a metal draw id made and had already machined out holes in a draw that took me a couple days to make 😒 Its not exactly clear in the info that they are plastic and not metal. They door look nice though. Just cant find any alternatives that dont look cheap.
