Before you say anything, yes, we -could- have gotten this absolute unit running and shredding tires again. Unfortunately the owner has other plans, which now include a full engine overhaul (which it definitely needs.)
Cool car. Back in December of 2021 I sold my 69 super bee clone (actually a Coronet 440) Bahama Yellow (butterscotch) 383 auto 4:10 sure grip that I owned for 6 years. I miss that car but I got more money for it than I ever dreamed possible. I still have my 72 challenger rallye 340 4 speed 3:73 sure grip. Rock on Mopar brother!
I had a yellow rallye Challenger! It was a 340 4 speed that had been swapped to a 400. It was extremely 70s tastic. I loved the car, but needed money, and it was that or the ‘66 Charger… I chose the B body because my family fit in it and we could take it on trips. Yeah I know the insane B body market pretty well myself, after buying my ‘68 Charger earlier this year… it’s what I’ve always wanted though. I have no regrets. And hope I don’t have to sell any time soon.
Awesome car! I'd love to have another 68-70 B-Body! You probably won't recognize me now, I was formerly known as mopar Mitch, I've gone in a different direction, got the Corvette bug again and bought a 69 stingray roadster, 350 4 speed car. Selling my Demon to finance it sadly, had it not been a /6 car originally I'd kept it but the 4 speed Vette just spoke to me and I had to have it!
Buddy of mine had one of those in high school, true story. We loaded up one Friday night, he wanted us to see it Bury the speedometer, and it did! Then we slowed to make a turn, while turning, the ball joint broke. O what a night.
Oh wow. My friend has a story almost just like that from years ago with a Dodge Stealth R/T with twin turbos and AWD. They went 120 down a country road, and heard a light clunk noise when they went over a bridge at speed. They got back to his place, jacked up the front end and one side of the front suspension dropped out to the ground. The top of one of the struts was broken completely off, and it just sort of fell out. Cool trick.
I hope so too. Tom thought we were going to get the job if the engine had to come out, but the guy is going to do it himself. Little bummed but that’s ok. There is definitely lots of good stuff to work on…
Not ours. Other than the Charger and Demon, anything nice you see on the channel probably isn’t mine 🤣 If it was up to me, we’d be fixing the valves or throwing a head on it and driving it today.
Need is a strong word. 383s are pretty cool too. And there is a lot of value in preserving a period street drag car like that - in my view anyway. But that would certainly destroy tires effectively
Stuck stuck. Not bent. They are all intake valves. We’re thinking someone tried starting it some time in the past on nasty old fuel, and it stuck a few valves in their guides.
