Can we save this old Shibaura tractor? Will it run? 

I used to have a grey market Nissan diesel engine, and took both the alternator and starter to a local shop, and he was able to repair both, even though there were no complete replacements available here. I was going to suggest this type of shop, but i patiently waited, and you made a good move in getting it repaired.

You can add spme ATF to the fuel tank and it will clean the injectors. When I change the fuel filter on my Kubota, same filter as yours, I fill the cup with ATF.

If you can't get a boot for the hydraulic valve, 3M makes Scotch-Weld PR40 ca adhesive that will let you repair it. Its designed for plastic and rubber, and is also useful for small abrasions on bias ply tires, like the sidewalls.

Had a vented fuel cap that got clogged on a vehicle by mud daubers. Stinking thing would run for a few mins and die. Took me a few hours to chase down the issue but it turned out to be vacuum building in the old fuel tank and the pump could no longer suck fuel 😂 weird things happen tho. This was a great video. For those that are unaware, the plastic lines on the diesel injectors is a return line. The injectors are liquid cooled and the fuel is returned to the fuel tank after it leaves the injectors. This is different than on a gas or petrol engine.

From what I've researched these are overbuilt very tuff tractors. If I can find one I'll pull the trigger.

She has a good bit of blow by. Hopefully the rings will free up after running a bit. Might try some other tricks/additives to try to free up the rings before you go in for a rebuild. But simply running the old girl hard a few times might cure the smoke and blow by issues.

That brand name is pronounced she-ba-ru. They made some fairly good Ford tractors, and parts weren't hard to get. Even on the grey market models, there are "Ford" parts that will work in many cases.

I have a gray market SD1840D. Are the rear reservoir and the transmission sections connected? Reason I ask is I added some hydraulic fluid treatment to the rear reservoir because of some minor leaks. After using the tractor for a while, hydraulic fluid started overflowing around the gearshift. Also where is the hydraulic drain plug located? I have water in the fluid and need to drain it out before winter so it doesn't freeze. One more thing. I have a rear wheel bearing going bad. How would I go about replacing it?

How hard are parts to find for these tractors?

I recently bought one of these not running, mechanic says I need a motor rebuild kit cause I have low compression. Do u know where I can but a rebuild kit for this machine?

Any idea how much these tractors are worth? I understand they are 80s vintage.
