Jonathan & Todd, CONGRATULATIONS!!! To be trained by the best in the world too, what an honor! Edd seems like he's the "cool uncle" that everyone gravitates to at family gatherings. So much has opened up for you, now. I cannot wait to see even more of the Blue World.
Great job on a serious accomplishment! Did my cave rebreather course with Edd back in 2017; the best thing that came out of it is my enduring friendship with Edd (and Stacy.) Edd is the real deal: a tough instructor who makes sure you know your stuff before you leave, and is always available for support after.
That’s CRAZY how you were out there past sunset. Awesome! Also I knew Edd and his team were masters of the sidewinder but literally burning the harness away? They’re incredible. And Blue World Team, awesome work as always.
Edd is not just a master of the sidewinder. He's THE master. Literally #1, first ever diver certified to use it, even helping test and tweak the design
Congratulations! We're an hour away from Ed's, we often free dive the Pond including Gator Hole and paddle by his place, must be an honor to train with him! Great work with Blue World!
Jonathan, it made me feel great seeing you guys getting your butts kicked. I just wrapped up a sidemount class down there last weekend and felt the exact same way. Ed’s crew are masters of the diving discipline. You guys did a great job, congratulations on surviving the toughest crew in diving!
Finally! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see the caves this will open or the Blue world team. Hope to see more collaboration with the dive talk guys. I can only imagine how fun trips are with that crew!
Congrats! You show me doesn’t matter how many years you’ve been diving, you can learn new ways. It is a very high level. I can’t wait your new videos:)
Well done you two!! So happy for your accomplishment. Look forward to all the new content you will be bringing to the channel now that you have this sidewinder certification. Bravo!!👏👏👏
@@BlueWorldTV Hey, I loved your video. I actually follow you for several years now. And I watched till the very end. Please make some more long form content like this one. It's a delight to watch! I think a good idea now you know a lot about tech diving, it would be to go on expeditions. Cave or at sea, doesn't matter. But documentaries are always a pleasure to watch from you guys. Cheers!
I love all the attention to bouyancy. Perfect bouyancy at 3’ is a LOT harder than at depth, as the increasing pressure actually helps mitigate small errors. At least on open circuit. Great video!
I really appreciate this insight into how thorough the training is. It makes sense that it should be, considering the risks associated with cave-diving. It makes me happy when safety measures are referenced in the videos :)
Lol nice, I've been watching Dive Talk for over a year now, meaning Ed Sorenson is one of the most easily-recognized names to me. Cool to see you're working with him.
Awesome!!! I'm glad you like it. We had a lot of fun and making this episode was a lot of work. We are proud of the accomplishment and the episode. Noah did a terrific job editing this episode!
Glad we got to come along for the journey I was going to check out Ed’s school I want to get cave and rebreather certified but after seeing this I will definately wait a few hundred more dives before I even attempt to go there. He is tough but for a good reason he wants to minimilize causalities due to improper training.
The only diving I've done is Freediving offshore in my home State which is Florida, I have not done any SCUBA (yet) of course because I don't have the training, the Equipment or the Finances for the Equipment just yet. But I have been watching channels like Dive Talk for awhile now and have been engrossed in not only SCUBA and CCR but just Diving in general for the better part of 2.5 years, and I've watched just about every piece of content that I've found that features Sorenson ever since I found out who is, watching this just solidifies the absolute beast of a Diver he and Mehdi are, absolutely master class divers. Incredible Video, and I look forward to maybe one day getting to be trained by Sorenson and Mehdi myself one day, but I will certainly visit the Dive Shop, which is 4.5 hours away from me, someday in the future.
Congratulations to both of you!! I can't wait to see the new places you will explore with the new certification. I loved watching the process and how skillful you have to be in order to get certified.
Awesome! I’m excited for you to finally experience what diving on a rebreather is like! A whole new world just opened its doors to you! Good luck sir! Thanks for the awesome content!
First of all congratulations for completing the Sidewinder course! Really looking forward to some rebreather videos and maybe some dives with Woody and Gus! Thank you so much for the great content 😊
What a great video, I enjoyed watching this training and I'm especially excited for future videos incorporating rebreathers from you guys. I can't wait.
Congratulations, guys! You did it! I am happy for you. I love you guys more and more! This long-long video (and the vlog) was so educational, uplifting, human, etc, that I didn't mind to watch them in 1 take.
@@BlueWorldTV This will be one of the special videos of yours, like your cave diving training one. Will come back to it again and again. Thank you for sharing them with us!
After watching this, I am so grateful to my first diving instructor who was a serious badass, Navy diver, commercial diver, you name it. He was very hard on us but a real friend at the end of the day. Ed is the perfect example of this.
My first dive instructor was the same way. A bit of a New England Legend, Jerry Comeau. We would do push ups if we referred to fins as "flippers"! LOL...but he was very big on safety and quality training. When I finished my class, I was a good diver. We stayed friends the rest of his life.
Mehdi also filmed several cave dives for Dive Talk. He's really good at it, diving the same paths as everyone else but with the hands full with the big camera.
Is it that hard to press the on and off button on a camera mounted on your mask or have another diver film the process while you train. It's a great show obviously
@@Josh-hr5mc lolz mate, I was a video producer for 15 years before starting as a dive professional, the short answer is yes it is hard abs even harder whilst doing it while training.
@@Josh-hr5mc this is no GoPro footage believe you me. Drone, big cameras in underwater housings that have buoyancy conditions... a lot went into making this video for you to enjoy for free :)
I honestly would’ve never guessed how in depth it would be, in order to become certified with such a setup! But if I were to ever take on such a challenge.. I’d only ever want to learn how to do so through Ed tho!! I’m not sure I’d be nearly as comfortable to do so with anyone other than the man, the myth, the legend himself!… That’s the one person who I’d be confident enough to know, not just think, that I’d absolutely be steered in the correct direction.. However, that’s certainly not to say that there aren’t other instructors out there, who could do just as good of a job preparing me for such an endeavor. But Ed would be the only person who I’d be 100% comfortable with blindly following his every instruction, while knowing that I’d be totally safe to do so!! I think that with anyone else, I just wouldn’t feel nearly as comfortable or as confident about learning these skills from anyone else. Without at least having some level of apprehension or nervousness about blindly follow their every word.. 🤷🏻♂️
I will never ever ever ever EVER go even NEAR an underwater cave (I’m terrified of deep water, and I’m recently terrified of tight spaces for some reason I haven’t figured out yet), but I would LOVE to meet Edd. What a legend! This video was super fascinating.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. We get really excited to release videos like this one that took a lot of time and effort, not just in filming, but the whole process.
Jonathan and Todd awesome accomplishment men! Absolutely something all CCR divers can be proud of getting their rebreather certification. Someday I hope to be blessed enough to enjoy a rebreather. It's a big responsibility for sure however the opportunities it opens up can be expansive and the applications I wish to use it for will be very exciting. 🤙Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter
Wow that looked tough!!! Well done at succeeding!!! Looks like rebreathing will be one of those things I can never do because there's so much going on!!!
I love blueworldTV so much, what a beautifully crafted channel! Its a real highlight for me when they post a video. If anyone asked me to define the word hero I would say the words Edd Sorenson! The people he has saved at great risk to his own life has no words, he is truly a person who has given far more to the world than he has taken. Thank you blueworld for making a blue world so bright 😀!
What an excellent instructor. I’m jealous. 😊 Edit to add. Be safe in your new adventures. Everything by the book or checklist. That’s how I’ll always dive.
