This is like a completely different song. I can't believe I'm hearing more prime Future Days material

It's like they carried on the torch that the early Floyd was carrying until they went super commercial with Dark Side in 1973

Every single song they ever played outside the studio is like that. If you like this style of long-form slow buildup CAN, then nearly every single live they played is the best CAN you've ever heard. There's over 50 lives on soulseek. They should all be on Spotify really, every single one of them is completely new and super enjoyable

You could rarely tell what Damo was saying, and I never cared. I saw Can play in 1974 just after the album Future Days came out, but he had left by then. It is wonderful to have this piece from the end of his time with the band. It would be great if there were a live version of Future Days (the track).

I would've given my right nut to see CAN live. Damo sums it up best in the BBC Krautrock documentary: "I don't have a much a memory. At the time I was a quite stoned. And a...that's it." Always nice to see a fellow Bickerstaffe!

@@frenchguitarguy1091 Singing is a very natural human skill. There are very little of the 7.950.000.000 People on earth, they can not sing at all. Mr. Suzuki is one of them. A dazzler that doesn't fit this extraordinary band at all. But he wasn't allowed to bawl there for very long either.

Damo's vocals are part of the sound. Both his voice and lyrics were the spark that drove Can to record their best albums. But listening to him also makes me think there's no way a band like Can could ever gain success in today's modern culture. Today's audiences would have trashed Can, especially Damo, mercilessly. Yes, retrospectively, we know he is a legend, but if he was brand new on the scene, no one would have given him a chance, sadly.

@@russellhenrybieber6620 Nah, people would trash the second half of “Tago Mago” as self-indulgent rubbish, and would make fun of Damo’s vocals. It’s a crappy world we live in.

@@psychedelicpiper999 Nah just look at Swans, or godspeed you black emperor, plenty of room for dense experimental musicans to make it despite the boomers telling you good music docent exist anymore.

@psychedelicpiper999 4 года назад
@@russellhenrybieber6620 Ehhh, they’re alright. Too much droning. I do like some other modern artists here and there, though, but they were trashed for going experimental. Hence why I’m saying people in my generation (millennials) and zoomers aren’t really accepting of experimental music like the boomers were. I’ve seen the same critics who praised Godspeed, You Black Emeperor and Swans, trash MGMT and Animal Collective for being too “self-indulgent”.
@russellhenrybieber6620
@russellhenrybieber6620 4 года назад
@@psychedelicpiper999 Yeah but Mgmt and Animal Collective didn't go from making poppy indie music to making 20 min long post rock compositions they went on to make poppy indie music with some psychedelic flare and interesting recording techniques. Experimental? sure. Full blown avent Gaurde? Nah, that's reserved for artists like beefheart, can, velvet underground, residents, the fall, Zappa, etc, All of whomst have cult like followings that kept em financially afloat. If Can burst on the seen today im sure they would be able to gain one of these cult followings. But I will say that America is particularly brutal to exipermental musicals and they would def fare better in Europe.

on some recordings of the Edinburgh set its listed as "Stone Strike", so it would be one of their 'instant compositions' performed on stage.

27:05 You have to be utterly twisted inside to do do that in pure improvisation, it's like the devil himself is handling those sticks. It's kind of hard to believe that Jaki was an otherwise normal person in day to day life, after hearing that.

Actually that is incorrect, although I think that is what the Can book says also. I saw them in a double bill with Amon Duul 2 in Frankfurt on October 3, 1973. Don't know if that was their last Damo gig or not.

who cares about his pronounciation it's suppose to add to the whole sound so stop picking at it as u you won't hear any other band as good as can. he makes sounds like the band makes colours. so who are you to debate whether damo cannot pronounce his words or not . sit back shut your eyes and enjoy one of the best bands you'll ever likly to hear or to trip too the rythyms are unbelievable. enjoy and stop bickering. from jemie.

Yeah, I feel bad the Damo era of Can didn't last longer, but watching a recent interview of his made me realize he'd have left sooner or later anyway. Singing with the same musicians for 4 years was already really trying on him. He's really restless and now literally has to sing with different musicians every time he performs to keep himself happy.
