It's funny a company took this approach. I think because the market is so saturated, they *had* to be in the position of the 'hero' that completely does the opposite of what everyone hates in every other shooter (p2w, SBMM, OP ability garbage that ruins gunplay) in order to survive at all after the disaster of feedback that was their private beta. Honestly, all for it and it makes me want to give it a try! Though, tread cautiously considering we know what company backed this game and how quickly they can flip once they establish a foothold.

Your gun should be wildly inaccurate when you jump, no slides, no dives. That is how you take a shooter back to the casual fun of old cod.

None of the operators are actual characters from the respective franchises, only their gadgets is what connects them to it. It is very easy to tell if you look at the new faction “GSX” based on the R6 Siege faction “GSG9”, instead of having the actual operators like Jager, Blitz, Bandit or IQ, we got three random characters that have their gadgets, the trophy system from Jager and the Flashing Shield from Blitz, and the universal defensive gadget from R6 Siege which is barbed wire.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is gonna be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines. On top of that, he just came into Harry's and ordered three T66 turbos with NOS and a Motec system exhaust.

Their “nerf” was capping at 4 jumps for bunny hoppers which is stupid. Looking at TheCodFather for endorsing this crap as fixed. Having a single bunny hop after a jump seems like a fine compromise, better for the skill ceiling, plus significantly less annoying for everyone. You can also cancel the nerf with a single crouch or waiting half a second in between the 3rd and that 4th jump all the way ”good” players think they need. This is not fixed, this is a start.

While the game isn't perfect, one criticism I've seen that I find funny is saying there isn't anything to grind for, which apparently means the game is boring. Bruh, grinding should be complimentary to the main experience. The game itself is FUN, that's what should bring you back to play it again and again.

I like that the operators are a bunch of nobodies. I think it's better than seeing 12 Sam Fishers running around on the map.

casual and laid back are not words i would use to describe Xdefiant.

Killstreaks in COD were literally the definition of the Rich get Richer. It was satisfying when you got them yourself, but it made it feel very difficult to come back when the enemies had them, while also encouraging camping and hiding. That's why I thought the change to Score Streaks and especially the Support Packages from MW3 (2011) were so good, it actually did the opposite, encouraging you to get out there and secure as many objectives and put yourself in risky spots to get kills because even if you died it didn't negate all of your efforts, but the rewards weren't crazy impactful (except for the stealth bomber) so it also didn't feel like it was difficult to come back if the enemy team is pulling ahead. Edit: (not important to my previous point) We never got the chance to try it in an official capacity, but I think a hybrid system would be ideal. You get score streaks as you do now, but whenever you die, instead resetting your score back to zero, it only resets it a certain amount, let's say 400 Points. That way people aren't going to hide for minutes on end because they are one kill away from a high tier streak reward, but they also aren't going to run around like a maniac trying to aggressively get as many kills as possible regardless of how many times they die since they don't get punished for dying. Basically, you just wanna keep your Score/Death ratio pretty high and that's how you get rewarded. BUT, you can't unlock the same streak rewards on the same streak, you will need to either die enough times that it sets you to zero, unlock all your steak rewards so it wraps around, or switch your loadout/class. (this prevents the obvious issue of getting a killstreak, dying, and getting that same killstreak even faster than the first time due to not losing all progress)

I just wanted to hop in to share for those unaware. Ubisoft connect is a permanent link between an Ubisoft account and the console that it links to. Back in 2016, a “friend” whom I now very much dislike and don’t talk to, linked their Ubisoft account to my PSN, to play for honour. Even to this day, I am unable to disconnect this Ubisoft account from my PSN account - meaning any Ubisoft game I play now, I am forced to play as him. Ubisoft support provides the single worst customer service I have ever experienced. Regardless of the proof I provide, they close the case on the base of security reasons (apparently thinking I’m some malicious actor attempting to…. Do something with an Ubisoft account?) There appears to be nothing I can do, unfortunately. It does mean I will never purchase/download another Ubisoft product, but I understand anyone who wouldn’t go that far. Just a warning, it’s niche yes, but if your console account was tied to someone else’s Ubisoft account and you can’t contact them, Ubisoft will not help you, your account is forever tied, parasitically to Ubisoft.

Once you leave the 25 level playlist the game becomes an absolute sweat fest.

For example even though the abilities in the upcoming R6 faction are from R6 (Jäger’s ADS and Blitz’s shield) all three characters are original and only based off of the R6 operators.

Hey Act Man, have you heard or looked into EOMM/EMM? Connection Based Match Making like the old Cods was the best - law of averages and team balancing fixed any major issues while giving you great connection and variety. Perfect for normal/regular/casual lobbies. Adding a boot camp for new comers was brilliant, only other thing would be a disability registry to place them in their own lobbies as well. SBMM doesn't entirely ignore connection but does group people via rough career level, tolerable when used right and going into Ranked where it belongs. EOMM/EMM (Engagement Optimized/Engagement Match Making) is what's been implemented in CoD 2019 and beyond, and it's far more malignant than SBMM. That's when they ignore connection to manufacture game experiences. Breed inconsistency with losses being more prevalent to keep people chasing the victory high like slots, tie it to the market to sell aftermarket (people that buy pointless macros in easy lobbies to advertise), etc.

Talking about sbmm.... The reason most games have it is because it is an addicting game loop. It constantly Keeps players coming back, the overall goal is to make every player 50/50. You will dominate two matches and think you are god, and then you will get your butt kicked the next two matches and think you are horrible. And then the loop resets.

the thing with SBMM is, You have the good players who complain its a things because everygame they play, its against people of the same skill level when they want to play casually AND the people who complain it isnt a thing when all they want to do is play casually and theyre constantly put against all these wildly better players who play it like the game absolutely sweating their balls off thinking theyre in the pro league finals. There are going to be people complaining about SBMM on both sides. the good players complaining its a things and the casual players who complain it isnt a thing.

One thing's for sure, it's an embarrassment for COD when a free to play FPS made by *UBISOFT* of all companies is so much more fun than any recent Warzone-era COD☠ And that's *with* it having all the current netcode/hit reg & bunnyhopping problems. I haven't enjoyed an arcade shooter this much since the COD4-BO2 era. They definitely nailed that oldschool feel. It's refreshing having developers that are actually communicative again about the biggest issues the game is facing. Once they improve upon such issues, it will easily be an exceptional competitor to COD, especially with that free price tag. With BO6 coming on gamepass this year lowering the barrier to entry, the strict EOMM still exists to kill any future COD multiplayer on release, no matter how good it is. The campaign and zombies are the only modes to be hyped for with BO6 tbh.
