I'm often reminded of what Bruce Lee said, to: "Research your own experience. Absorb what is useful. Discard what is useless. And add what is uniquely your own." Keep on rockin'! 🤘
I agree with you 100%. I was in law enforcement for 30 years and had both good and bad supervisors. As I became a supervisor, I used what I learned from good leaders. Avoided most things that the egotistical leaders represented. I learned from officers senior to me and on occasion from the newer guy. When I became a Lt. the administration wanted a separation from your officers and created a us and them mentality. I never fit in with them and continued to go with my Sgts and my men werewatched over and protected from administration nonsense. I found if they trusted me, they would complete any task given to them. I've been retired a year now, and I do miss those guys.
When I was a young teen I worked in a factory with someone that wore a bulletproof vest to work. Doesn't sound like a teacher but there was actually much to learn from him.
Jocko, are you going to address any of the new information given about TF bruiser? I saw a video of a guy who’s was supposibly a team guy who said some pretty harsh stuff about you and TF bruiser. I take it with a grain of salt as there are 3 sides to every story but just was wondering if you were going to address any of it?
Absolutely love that you guys bring this topic up. In my years of teaching Yoga, I regularly would attend beginner classes of teachers I didn't know for many reasons. 1) I like to see how others instruct & how beginner students translate what they hear/see. 2)How new students bodies move & identify how to take them through whatever has got them caught up. 3)Talk to the students & the teacher after class. I absorbed a wealth of knowledge by being open to to learning from others no matter their level. Thank you guys for having sharing this content.
Has anyone seen the Green Beret Chronicles podcast? Eric Deming is on the last one, saying Jocko is a murdering piece of garbage. Would like to know if he has a response.
What I learned from a white belt is how to become a better instructor - in terms of approach, strategy, coaching. I use this knowledge now in other interactions. It has been priceless. Especially the patience part…that is still a work in progress! 😊
I learned a hard lesson. Some people aren’t and weren’t ever your friends and I gotta get over it. It’s hard to admit, because ego is hard to crush. I did it to myself by being foolish and ignorant.
Been seeing Eroc Deming on a couple podcast and a recent one hes talking about you, chris kyle and task unit bruiser. Curious if you will talk about cause hes saying some pretty wild things
Hey man, please address the allegations, it would be great to hear your take. Your videos have helped me a lot, and you deserve the benefit of the doubt. Please tell us your side of the story.
I once saw a video of an ex Cia operator explaining evasion techniques. I swear he described to a T what i read a deer does to escape predators. So, I would say your not the only person that believes that. Haha.
If not for lending my ear and opening my mind to others around me, i wouldn't have grown to be the man i am today. I find people who dont want to listen to others are handicaping themselves mentally.
Here is a white belt lesson my friend told me: live your life like your a spongebob and soak up everybit of info even if it looks stupid. After that think for yourself and create a filter in your mind to learn quickly 😊. Couse every bit of crusial info you need down the road.
Have I learned anything from a white belt? Yeah - a good constant reminder to keep my hands up/head protected, even when strikes are illegal, so I don’t catch a spazzy knee or elbow to the face.
You can RE-learn things from a white belt or a beginer in any field. As you move up, you tend to forget some basics or fundamentals, and watching a beginner can resurface a lot of knowledge you have misplaced.
humility is a virtue, however to ensure learning 1. character 2. humility 3. fortitude 4. prayer those four are what anchors one to truth, or ensures that's one learning correctly, or that it serves the saints, however humility is a wonderful virtue, and if one added wisdom and one could have the answer to everything humble people don't necessarily have succes, or power, however they tend to have ' succes ' at life, marriage, or their personal lives, or it's a weird virtue that gives rewards in places people don't think, or tend to see as what they want
these things could be true 1. the willingness to submit, listen, or learn is required to master oneself, it's also courtesy, and one has to take lessons from the saints to learn that, or also civics, or important culture 2. as to specifically being able to learn something from everyone the answer is an iffy yes, or usually to most, or that there are negative lessons, good, or casual, or one can learn what to do, what not do, or the consequences of this, or that looking at people, or listening 3. the choice, or social skill to listen, admire, or respect other people is an important side of character, or also wisdom, or for that reason it's worth knowing, to add to spiritual personality 4. having a network, friends, or the succes of marriage, or work often depends on that skill, or being willing to assume, or support other people to their wants, ideas, or traditions, or that one could say it's a four way - win to be able to listen, or learn, and a zero loss to character, or also courtesy to not
Please invite Eric Deming to the podcast so you guys can hash out all these accusations he’s been making. It’s really disturbing to hear all this drama within the community and even more upsetting to hear someone speak that way about you who I respect and in all honesty, view as a personal hero.
I would expand on Jocko's anecdote about the meth head. I would wager even that person could teach you things positively and not just what not to do lessons. Their knowledge may or may not be useful to you such as the fastest way to remove copper from a microwave or how to survive on the streets, etc but most people know at least a few things that you don't know.
I see this issue very complicated Jock, the thing is is prepfered to analyses the thread and sometimes comprehensive, its value worthy to make agressive or attack if you have the instruction to a drunk man that bodders you or your girlfrined i mean is seek person alchoolic or drugaddicted. so its better just to advice her from the heart or faith and ignored the disrectfull and just leave with you girlfriend instead like hit him, maybe not to act deffensively tough... just to empsthasize and keep ego away just a point of view as seal man can be this solve this way or cause fear and be painfull with other that are not in their same frequency, i mean this agressor is all ready suffering... just a question, ovbiously dependes on the enviroment i mean war zones or extreme violents places, but in a daily situation in the town on bar o supemermaket, just a reflection thanks for yoir podcast amazing philosophical thoughs... what would the best path ... thanks your podcast truly amazing
I've watched you guys for years. Still, Jocko asked a yes or no question, Echo goes on a verbal walkabout without any obvious sign of giving a straight answer, Jocko inevitably gets frustrated and interrupt him. I am trying to extract a lesson from this. Is this about consistency or inability to change and adapt?
Yes, it's just hard to find someone worth learning from in the modern progressive bubble. Y'know that one scene from Good Will Hunting where Robin Williams explains to Matt Damon that he's just a kid repeating things he read in books, and has no idea what he's actually talking about? Replace books for vlogs, and kid with middle-aged adult... and that's the average modern person. There ain't a whole lot of much you can learn from most of them that you couldn't pick up within 5 minutes of their favorite livestream.
😂ive learn from bugs bunny. Working steal trusses 40 feet in the air bolting them together guy with backhoe drop the one side into Scafel holding my truss stable rare me back like a Trojan horse and started to pull me to the ground full force of weighted beam. Then bug hoping from elevator pop in my head? soon as I got close push my self forward to land on my feet, so beam left or right fall not take my leg off. Age 19 that happen so yeah you can learn from anyone. Paying attention the main problom. No one born knowing it all 😂 tho many try acting the part. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why are few dudes going around trashing your name jocko??? I’ve heard same thing from a handful of dudes saying you were everything opposite of what you preach ? Jus a little confused and def dnt wanna believe it
I would like you to address on an Internet scale please, I understand that you can learn little things from people around you but what is it with every influencer releasing a book, podcast with no former experiences and really nothing much to share..
thanks for the channel, I did subscribe... on the other hand, right when I am consumed by your topics, the show ends. What ? ok, well I do understand the reason. But am disappointed by the fact that I click on a channel, subscribe and find myself needing to re-subscribe to another platform to continue the same subject topic. Well, no thanks. Respectfully though, i'm really not gonna do that. To you and your channel, I wish you the best, it's informative, and appealing, and at this time i'd rather use what I use. Love you guys , peace,/. VETERAN NAVY 2000-2010 EN2
2 things you can learn from a white belt: 1. How to listen and learn like it's your first time hearing the instructions 2. How to safely use BJJ against a non practicing person (like in a real-life situation)
This is exactly what the guy that was on the podcast green beret Chronicles was claiming about you.Your leadership sucked. You only went out with your guys once and sent them out into dangerous spots instead.Bag on purpose that's what he's claiming he's claiming you're making money off his brother's blood
