As a psychologist, I believe the best direction for you is for you as an instructor/ mentor. You are most satisfied by imparting knowlege and enabling others with your skills. While in your early years your may have had some educational issues, I believe you have found your niche. Money is important but not your only goal in life!

I bought about 40 Fila bucket hats at a Costco each one was like $4, anyway when I was checking out the cashier asked me if I was reselling them. I was not expecting that question so I said no yes I lied. Anyway she called a supervisor over and she asked me the same thing I said I wasn't reselling them and then she had me sign a form that said I was not going to resell them. It was an awkward experience. But I would still try it again at a different Costco. Yes please do a retail arbitrage video

Been here from about 200 subs, why not do both? Out of all YT resellers, you have a clear knack for outside of the box categories and approaches (glass frames, etc). What would be dope is if you go and "enter". In general, everyone can check solds and look stuff up, most should have a reasonable idea what sell through is, but, what, to me makes you more interesting than a lot of others, and what gives the rewatchability is you're the tidbit guy. - droppin a couple of dimes a video. So, if you were to say (played out example) I want video games to be my number 1 category by March 2024, and here's the approaches I'm doing. I'd be so in.

Another great video. I remember the big box stores used to use cheap christmas lights as loss leaders to get people into the store. Those in the xmas lights hobby would then buy up all remaining inventory in the days after xmas when the 70-90% clearance sales made these $3.99 loss leader lights $.39 a box.

I am so happy that I found you before I start shopping for things to sell! I guarantee I would have bought a lot of crap that wouldn’t sell. I have a notebook with all my notes to get me started and I get the message loud and clear. Can’t wait to go shop now! Afraid of leaving valuable things behind out of ignorance but I know I won’t come home with things I’ll be stuck with and I know I’ll get better and better in time. Been selling on ebay for 23 years. Returns are way under 1%, more like 0.1%. They are irritating but you have to accept it as a cost of doing business. I find the $100K per year story is more relatable.

I follow you for your practical advice; I don’t really care how much money you are making as long as you are being honest and transparent and the tips really work and are scalable for people’s individual situations. And in fact 100k messaging feels a little gimmicky to me because there are so many internet grifters who make their whole pitch about a “six figure income” - that always makes me inherently suspicious. I appreciate all you do.

I vote more content, but keep a decent eBay flow so you can continue to be the expert and continue to offer tips and advice on the platform as it changes. When it comes to content look at things like what Harry Tornado is doing with the Flip House. What can you create that is educational and targets resellers, but that isn't what everyone else is making. You will still have "What Sold" etc, but what unique "show" can you bring to the resellers that is entertaining. You are on your way sir. I'm very happy that you are having success. You've earned it.

everytime someone has returned something it’s seemed to have sold for me about a week or so after relisting it 😂 so if something sells it’ll almost always sell again so not that big of a deal

Buy it now! How do you list your items and why? eBay always seems to be in you business. Example telling me to ship priority mail because the customer wants it shipped that way. I contacted customer and said I was not and she didn’t know a thing about the shipping. eBay really goes to far. How do you deal with it?

Having made YT videos for 7+ years now, you will find yourself repeating yourself on certain topics that people bring up a lot. You will also make the same videos over and over again. These realities can lead to video making burnout. I suggest growing your eBay store to a huge level while documenting that process here, which will inevitably increase your channel's size.

Yeah returns are fine, but you were essentially taken advantage of and scammed. That's not OK. In my experience, the majority of returns or requests for refunds are scams

My opinion is that you should focus on content, especially structured where some of your videos are interconnected ie where you do the 100k profit store program, etc driving viewers to watch multiple videos... then once your content revenue grows maybe hire someone to work on your eBay stores to do the tasks required to scale it... 5k 10k listings.. your content is amazing

I don't have a problem with most returns myself, but one week i had an influx of 6 expensive returns in one week, all in items that would cost about $20 each to ship back and i couldn't resell for parts. So i lost out on the sales profits, plus what i paid / bought the items for, and the items are gone. To me, that's the worst part of selling. I could pay to have them ship it back but i would lose even more money.

I get returns fairly average. I've just been making sure my cost of goods are low now. I stopped paying up at goodwill. That's where I was hurting myself in the beginning.

To put content out there you have to be speaking from experience. So a balance between the 2 perhaps. Most people (I think) would be overjoyed and dancing in the streets if they were making 100k profit a year. A million can come later. A retail arbitrage video from your perspective would be welcomed.

Your eBay business is not infinitely scaleable - you’re probably relatively close to maxed out where you’re at (maybe you could 2x your business AT MOST, but there are only so many hours in a day, and only so many thrift stores you can drive to - a $1M a year reselling business is a pipe dream). RU-vid in far more scaleable. I think you already know your answer tho…

I just found your channel a few weeks ago. I enjoy your "what sold” content, and the common sense tips you give is by far my favorite. No nonsense straight to the point videos. The obvious answer is to do what makes you happier. It may not be the most profitable, but if you're happier it will be less work, and you'll be richer for it. I hope that makes sense. Either way I'm coming along for the JRide.
