I was always into politics even at an early age and I never understood why so many black people were democrats. I realized early on that I didn’t have to be a Democrat just because my family was. It didn’t make sense to me. I took AP government in high school & we had to take a political affiliation test online (in 2012) and I thought to myself “I’m going to answer these questions based on biblical principles or how I think Jesus would respond” and when I did that it came up that I was economically liberal and socially conservative. I was terrified of the conservative part because I knew that represented republicans & I would always hear that republicans were racist old white men who hated everyone. My first thought was “how can I be black and republican”. Even that statement shocked me because I also thought “well why can’t I be black and republican?” But I wrestled with that for a long time. When I went to register to vote on my 18th birthday I really really wanted to register as a republican, but I was afraid of the looks I would get so I registered as a Democrat. I regretted that so much after I did it. And I didn’t even know why I felt so guilty for it at the time, but now I do. I ended up doing some research on the Democratic Party a few years ago and its foundation was never good. They were in favor of slavery & the Republican Party actually started as an anti-slavery party. The first black governor was a republican…that should say a lot. People have said “there was a switch in party beliefs”….well if that’s true, I haven’t found it. They take credit for the civil rights act and let me tell you something…a lot of republicans signed it too so how can you take credit for that? God really opened my eyes to some of this stuff a long time ago and I’m so happy He did. I’m so happy He protected me from being invested in identity politics.

I don't mind the question are you black or Christian first especially from God. I do mind, however, the suggestion or implication from some theological perspectives that I give up my blackness to become Christian. I let my faith inform my cultural expression and it places guardrails, as it should for anyone of any culture, on what I can and cannot embrace. But God doesn't require me to erase my uniqueness yet some churches / theology would have you thi k it does.

Yes, you can be a Democrat and a Christian. I am a Republican who used to be a Democrat and was a Christian in both instances. Both parties sin and have blind followers. Political party is not an essential of the faith. Does it seem like cognitive dissonance? Yes, but it is also a myth that any political party has a monopoly on Christ. We are all in a sanctification process, no matter how much moral high ground we feel confident in asserting.

I’ve always struggled with the issue if you can be a Democrat and a Christian at the same time, and really processed this with the Holy Spirit. Republicans do not 100 %always operate the “ Christian way either , if I can be honest . Though my question was not answered, specifically I had more of a revelation of who God is , what he hates, and what he loves what he approves and what he disapproves. Since then I realized that I should not be siding with anyone politically unless the candidate upholds and believes biblical principles closest to what the Bible speaks on. My concern, my conviction , values comes from Gods righteousness and if I am choosing just the opposite of that , then who do I represent? We ask the Holy Spirit of who to vote since he knows all things . We don’t vote because our skin color represents the candidates skin . We vote BIBLICALLY

Even when I was a disgusting low down wicked sinner full of the devil and everything he had to offer from plenty of girls to have sex with, to drinking plenty of alcohol, to drug fueled parties, and traveling all over the world, I still knew abortion was wrong and never agreed with it at all. I find it disingenuous to call out only one side of the political spectrum. The same level of wickedness is found in the Republican party - though different areas. The more profound question is not party affiliation, but how can believers expect the political system to solve spiritual problems - it can't. Bottom line, our faith and trust should not be in world systems whether it's the extreme right or extreme left.

Also the first commandment it's a love thy neighbor as thyself. If either political party or political person who is running for office is not doing this they are an error no matter what political affiliation they are a part of. And if they don't repent. There will be a worker of iniquity as the Bible says. And no unrepented sin will enter into the kingdom of God. I don't care who you are to the Jews first and to the gentiles. So if you turned a blind eye to people getting killed on the streets but you scream out about abortions and that that is wrong, that's being hypocritical. You cannot say you love God and hate your brother who you see everyday. That also means when we put our mouths on people and when we kill people and our thoughts. God sees and here's your thoughts no matter what political affiliation you are a part of. So if you are fighting against abortion loudly, then you should be fighting loudly against all the other sins that we have been committing.

The answer is no. When you look at policies and they do not align with God's word there is no way you can be a part of that party. Saying you are a dem is saying you support their beliefs no one is going to really give u a chance to break down what policies you support you are just lumped in. Jesus came to give us a choice. A choice is dvision. A choice has to be made. Just bc I say I am a follower of Christ does not mean I am. Look at who Jesus was up against the religious leaders of that LivingIt is what is in your heart and when it comes out it shows. Holy spirit is not going to lead you to go against God's word for a house that is divided cannot stand. The only way is thru God's word which is Jesus. This why the Church lacks power bc we have let the world's view corrupt many.

I dont think as believers we should be a Republican or Democrat. They both support wickedness in different ways. We are instead citizens of heaven. Phillipians 3:18-20 For as I have often told you before, and now say again even with tears: Many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and their glory is in their shame. Their minds are set on earthly things. 20But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself, will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body. Mark 12 13Later, they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to catch Jesus in His words. 14“Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are honest and seek favor from no one. Indeed, You are impartial and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay them or not?” 15But Jesus saw through their hypocrisy and said, “Why are you testing Me? Bring Me a denariusc to inspect.” 16So they brought it, and He asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they answered. 17Then Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” And they marveled at Him.

I love discussing these issues within the Church. The Body of Christ is suffering from an identity confusion similar to the confusion we see in society around gender and sexuality. This confusion stems from losing sight of our true identity in Christ. The Church must understand that our identity is not in political parties or ideologies but in Jesus Christ alone. Historically, it’s important to recognize certain facts. The Republican Party played a significant role in funding Planned Parenthood with federal tax dollars, despite the organization's controversial history tied to its founder, Margaret Sanger. President George H.W. Bush, before becoming president, was an advocate and spokesperson for Planned Parenthood. This marked the first time taxpayer contributions were given to the organization. As followers of Christ, we are called to distance ourselves from evil and avoid participating in systems that promote sin. Ephesians 5:11 says, "Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them." Likewise, 1 Thessalonians 5:22 instructs us to "abstain from every form of evil." This applies to all areas of life, including our engagement with political parties. Our identity is not found in the Democratic or Republican parties, and we must not rely on our own understanding to determine what is good and evil (Proverbs 3:5-6). In addition to this, it’s worth noting the connections between political figures and cases of child sexual abuse and trafficking. The first major U.S. case tied to child trafficking involved members and supporters of the Republican Party, such as in the Franklin Credit Union scandal. Today, we see figures connected to both political parties, including the infamous associations with Jeffrey Epstein and individuals like Sean Combs, linked to serious allegations. The Church must remain vigilant and avoid becoming entangled with political systems that compromise Biblical values. Our allegiance is to Christ, not to any political party, and we must carefully discern how we engage in the world without compromising our faith.

The "The Pipeline to Prisons" movement toward the privatization of prisons in the United States began in the 1980s and gained momentum during both Democratic and Republican administrations, although it was largely driven by conservative, Republican-led policies during the Reagan and Bush administrations. Here are some key facts: 1. Reagan Administration (Republican): In the 1980s, the "War on Drugs" was a significant policy focus under President Ronald Reagan, which led to a dramatic increase in incarceration rates. As the prison population grew, there was a push to explore private solutions to manage the overcrowded public prison system. This marked the beginning of the rise of private prisons in the U.S. 2. Bush Administration (Republican): Under President George H.W. Bush, the use of private prisons expanded. Private prison companies such as the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA, now CoreCivic) and GEO Group began to enter into contracts with the federal government and state governments to house inmates. This was in line with conservative ideals of reducing government spending and promoting private enterprise. 3. Clinton Administration (Democrat). While the movement began under Republicans, President Bill Clinton's administration also supported tough-on-crime policies. Clinton signed the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, which included provisions for expanding private prisons to accommodate the growing number of inmates, many of whom were incarcerated due to stricter sentencing laws, particularly related to drug offenses. 4. Obama Administration (Democrat): In contrast, President Barack Obama's administration took steps to reduce the reliance on private prisons. In 2016, the Justice Department announced plans to phase out the use of private prisons for federal inmates due to concerns about safety, security, and the quality of care. 5. Trump Administration (Republican): Under President Donald Trump, the trend was reversed. The Trump administration renewed contracts with private prison companies and emphasized their role in immigration detention, significantly increasing the use of privately operated facilities for detaining undocumented immigrants. In summary, the privatization of prisons began with Republican-led policies during the Reagan and Bush administrations, although it continued to grow under both Democratic and Republican leadership until the Obama administration sought to scale it back. The Trump administration then reinvigorated the use of private prisons.

Here is the qualification of a pastor 1 Timothy 3 3:1 It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do. 2 An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money. 4 He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity 5 (but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of God?), 6 and not a new convert, so that he will not become conceited and fall into the condemnation incurred by the devil. 7 And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Thanks for this conversation. I believe you can be democrat and a Christian . CHRISTIANS can and should still minister and pray for the fall and ending of abortion and healing of women , also for the transgender lgbtqia community as well. It's how we approach these topics and things , and have the holy spirit Jesus christ move through and speak through and use us. We live in a fallen system , republicans aren't eradicating abortion racism the proud boys kkk republicans aren't eradicating or speaking out against that and more. We have to make a choice with God Jesus and the Holy spirit in tow about whats the best way to move forward and stragetize against the enemy. Also abortion was available for white women only until the late 1800s early 1900s when government decided the white race should want to/ needed to be grow. Also earlier when abortion was widely advertised in newspapers , doctors offices etc wealthy white women mostly were the ones having abortions, the church had no stance on abortion in America it was accepted, it was seen as bad if pregnancy was due to fornication. Just saying abortion has always had allot of problems and spiritual issues , money, social mobility, demographics, wealth racism etc that need to be addressed on a material and spiritual level.

God is not a Democrat nor Republican. Jesus was not involved with politics. The good news is not Gospel + political party. Politics is tied only to earthly (temporal) kingdoms. We are ambassadors for Christ. Our kingdom and citizenship are in heaven. Our main calling is to be a light to the world and salt of the earth which means to share the Gospel and to show the love of God - help the hungry, thirsty, naked, sick and imprisoned. This is our first and foremost mission. As good citizens of our nation we should vote accordingly to biblical truths but our political beliefs and actions should not hinder or interfere with our main mission of sharing the Gospel and being a witness for Christ. Christians can vote Democrat because God is pro-choice (not pro-abortion). God does not force his morality on you nor coerce you to do what is right. Hence, God is pro-freewill and thus pro-choice. He honors your choice independent of whether it is right or wrong. If God can be pro-choice then a Christian can vote Democrat and be pro-choice. Terminating pregnancy is an issue between a woman and her God, not her and the government. Many can't see how Christians can vote Republican because Republicans support a convicted sexual predator, lover of strife and discord, proclaimed adulterer, unstoppable reviler, genitals grabber, and pathological liar who is totally opposite of Christ whom they profess to serve. Some say that it's OK to follow an evil leader because God can use an evil leader for His own purposes. But doesn't the Old Testament show that after God uses the evil leader He punishes and even destroys the evil leader and followers? The bible does say who you should vote for. You should vote for someone who will give you a "tranquil and quiet life full of godliness and dignity". (1Tim 2:1-2) Who can that be? It is someone who is the most Christ-like. Why? Because integrity and character matters (by their fruits you shall know them) and policies don't matter as much because many candidates once elected don't follow their party, platform, and promised policies. Integrity and character are time-tested indicators of how leaders will successfully react to and handle future crises. If voting means a choice between small Satan or big Satan then don't vote at all. We are not required to make a vote that would sear our conscience. At the end of the day God will not ask you whether you voted for a Democrat or Republican. Instead He will ask you whether you knew His Son, did you share the Gospel, and did you show the love of God - help the hungry, thirsty, naked, sick and imprisoned. Did you love Me? Did you love your neighbor? Did you love your enemies?

Can you be a Christian and a democrat in 2024? Let’s see, Jesus wasn’t a democrat or republican, so if you feel you have to belong to one of the political parties to be a Christian, you’re not a Christian. If you believe that there are Christian’s not only in all political parties, but also Christian’s who never get evolved in politics your a Christian. Why do I state it that way, because Jesus does not have a rule that you must come to him through the republicans party to get to heaven. He has only one, to get to heaven you must come through Jesus. I am sick of the blasphemy I hear from Republicans. Republicans do not corner. The market on Christianity Republicans do not corner the market on being perfect from it. Anyone using Jesus God or the Holy Ghost for politics is messing with fire.
