Okay, so no. As far as the words go, this doesn’t work. You can’t, by definition, be both. Can you be a non-binary person who’s attracted to woman? Well duh...But if you don’t identify as a woman, then you can’t, BY DEFINITION, be a lesbian. And no, I’m not being insensitive to anyone’s place in this world. However, if we’re going to give value to words at all, we MUST use them in terms that are agreeable. Lesbian means “female that is sexually attracted to other females”. Non-binary means “not defined in terms of male or female: heterosexual or homosexual.” Therefore, just simply going by these word values, there’s no way anyone can identify as both. This is called an “oxymoron”. If we as a society continue down this road, it will be one “fine mess” that we’ve gotten ourselves into. And the fact that people are too scared to say anything about it, is frightening. It’s truly a “deafening silence“, created by fear of judgment. Hopefully these last couple of examples help.

If you’re non binary then you’re not a woman, I’m trans myself and I would never say that I was a lesbian because I’m a dude and my gender is male, so if I like girls that does NOT mean I’m a lesbian and it’s the same for you guys. If you’re a gender and you like someone who’s the same gender as you, you’re gay. Gay is an umbrella term for girls, guys and everything in between so calling yourself a ‘non binary lesbian’ is not only generally offensive to other trans people (the argument being your genitals define your sexuality, that if you’re a guy or girl with the opposite genders parts to what you actually are then if you like someone with the same genitals as you you’re gay, which is bullshit) you are also incorrectly educating people. Lesbian = homosexual woman A non-binary person does not subscribe to a binary definition of a man or woman. In this regard they would not identify as a woman and as such the definition of lesbian would not apply to them since a lesbian is literally a woman attracted to their own gender. Altering the definition of lesbian is not about being inclusive if it’s alienating the smallest population within the LGBT+ community. A non-binary person attracted to homosexual women would exist somewhere in the + (plus) umbrella of the LGBT+ community.

Ok so the reason why 100% of nonbinaries are leftists and mostly women is because women most of the time they cant handle the cultural expectations and typical feminine characteristics attributed to the female sex so they want to distance themselves from this. Conversely, I have a friend who is nonbinary whose boyfriend considers himself straight. This friend who is AFAB was at first offended that he'd identify as such, because it made them feel as if he saw them as female. I'd like to point out that "heterosexual" means "attracted to a different sex" so... the man is still straight. He's not attracted to men. I think it's okay for a person to identify as however the heck they want to identify but if a person says "I'm a nonbinary lesbian" I'm interpreting that to mean they still internalize their female biology whilst also affirming their nonbinary gender. I can appreciate the intent of this video, but it doesn't really do much explaining. I mean, Tortor does a great job at the end when they explain their sexuality and their trouble with not having a word for it, but it's at the end of the video, after a lot of commentary that makes no sense without context that isn't provided. Especially, there's not even an uncited tl;dr about what they believe the world 'lesbian' to mean, which is unhelpful when clearly the dominant cultural understanding is that the word lesbian refers to wlw, whether that's correct or not. Okay people who say they are a lesbian because they are a woman who only likes women which means they don't like non-binary females makes no sense. Gender is making everything so confusing. The meaning of a lesbian is really a female who is exclusively attracted to females (or people passing as females). A lesbian attracted to a female that later comes out as non-binary does not make that lesbian any less of a lesbian. They will still never be attracted to a male (or person passing as a male). Sexuality doesn't care about identity. Heterosexuality and Homosexuality is about sex not gender identity.

I identify as a woman but im not really that comfortable in my gender. I sometimes identify as non-binary but only to really close friends of mine and Im almost 100% closeted as non-binary since I dont have a problem with any pronouns so I dont really care if people refer to me as she/her and my friends know the things that make me unfomfortable without me needing to say why they make me uncomfortable so everything works out fine. I like women and I used to identify as a lesbian but now I actually say that Im gay for two reasons; 1. The term gay is a gender non conforming term and 2. I realised I dont like exclusively women, I could be attracted to nb people as well (even tho its never happened before)... so infact I see it like this. Im on the verge of the woman and the nb identity. Being gay means you are attracted to the same gender. I like women and enbys... Soooo the term gay is way more fluid and cool than the term lesbian.
