perma slag is because you went out of a veicule while slagged by the slag in the desert. it make you perma slagged. to fix it, do it again after re-entering the veicule

Really sad that this ten year old game never had that officially fixed. Edit: Me saying it's "permanent" might be misleading you can always save and quit to fix this problem it's just that doing that can be annoying.

If you want the true definition of pain. Then do a Maya Phaselock only run. Her Phaselock does deal damage. Just the absolute pain of having to wait for it to recharge.

You actually don't need to go through the Fridge after sanctuary, you can pop in to get the fast travel, teleport to the dust, drive to the other side to come out in the highlands and go from there. Discovered that as I was reaaaaally bad at killing the rats when I was a kid.

You get permaslagged by driving through a slag pool while in a vehicle. This persists until you quit out. Its a glitch thats been around since the game came out

If you watch some of Joltz's recent stuff he discovered a method for grinding xp in the Peak that requires no gear. You can get to level 10 or 12 pretty fast that way, it might make early game xp farming easier for later challenges. Basically he found a spot to stand where rabids will jump at you, kill you, fall off the map, and grant a second wind. You have to be low hp so you don't have health gate anymore, otherwise you'll take knockback. I've done it myself and it's really pretty easy.
