A: While I'm more clear about this in Part 2, it is implied in challenge runs that the rules should be interpreted as "not causing damage with anything except Gifts". Q: Why are you bad? Why didn't you do any research?
A: This is my second time playing the game. I did 8 hours of research before the run, but there aren't many good sources to pull from. The best source is Revenant Owen's channel, who I discovered midway through the run.
Q: Did you do Depths and DLC?
A: Yes, I attempted them. That will be in part 3, coming eventually.
Q: Do you like Code Vein?
A: Yes! It's not my favorite, but I would love to see a sequel that makes improvements from this game.

Code Vein is a good game. It's not the best game, but I hope a sequel will overhaul a bunch of the issues. It's more fast-paced, which is more my style.

I'm currently doing the tower of trials and she's in it. Now that I have enough ichor/strong enough gifts, I don't block a single time. Her AI is extremely manipulatable in the first phase, and phase 2 all you have to do is dodge those dives and its EZ

Go on, give it a try. I used this method originally to shoot down hanging ambush enemies in the government building, and eventually I got good at firing spells off unlocked during boss fights. Ah, the memories are coming back to me now. I have over 800 hours in this game and probably thousands of co-op tokens on my NG+5 character. I wouldn't call myself the best player ever: I don't do meta builds and I've never done all bosses solo, but I will call myself the #1 Cathedral tour guide because NOBODY else took that job lol. All that mastery was not there in the beginning. The Butterfly took me two hours the first time I played, the frickin' Gilded Hunter took me less attempts that that! And the Execution even now is tricky. Even when you know her moves and general behavior, she can and will surprise you because of how fast her slide attack is and how huge its hitbox is. Many times she's turned the tides on me, but I don't get mad anymore

Today I missed roughly 50 attacks due to targeting being awful, and missed every free aim I attempted (about 5). It makes me sick how an enemy can move 2 steps and because casting and everything is so slow it just misses. If you're that skilled, maybe you have some advice on my current issues. The biggest issue with it is the fact that a majority of the better codes and abilities are gate-kept behind white castle which this creature essentially guards the door to. The game effectively tells you that unless you play like a pansy and poke it with ranged attacks while you let Yakumo fight the battle for you then you're gonna be in for a bad time. No playing the game YOU want for you, mister.

The Poison DOT is crippling especially with how little healing you have at the time, and some of the attacks it has are a little tricky to dodge. That one where it charges you leaving poison clouds being the worst offender since it can come in from weird angles/timings. Its not the hardest thing in the game but its hard for an early boss.

Having played a good bit of this game, forgotten about it and started again twice, the difficulty in this game is really something else. If you have a partner it's no problem and you can push through a lot thanks to luck and brute force. Solo, this game can be absolutely miserable with boss attacks. I dont think i ever got a boss down in less than 5 tries while solo (outside Oliver and the depths but thise dont count) meanwhile after picking the game back up a few days ago, with partners, I've only died 3 or 4 times and all but one of those were falling off a cliff After hearing your rant about the butterfly, i was reminded of that because that was pretty much my first experience as well

It kinda bums me out that these videos didn’t do as well as Andy would’ve liked. I’ve never played this game, it doesn’t seem like it’s my style at all (though the character creation is indeed tempting) but these videos are really interesting and crazy entertaining. It obviously took a lot of work and it shows! If the algorithm took to these videos better I’m sure more people would enjoy the hell out of them.

Honestly I just need to stop complaining about it. I did learn a LOT from editing this video, has a lot of fun techniques and it one of the last BIG jumps I made in editing improvement. All Seath (current project) also is a big jump in effeciency as well as effectiveness. My favorite part of this video IIRC is still just the fact that me laying/throwing Io down in the beginning is literally just reversed footage sped up a bit and something as simple as that makes it look so good lmao

I left this game when it came cuz i couldn't figure out the various mechanics but started yesterday again and boy was it good. Terraria really upped my patience to learn, ALSO the editing was good and clean, gameplay very good. Don't mind this but i compared you with Lillaggy when you further defined the challenge rules. All In ALL you gained a sub and i got a good channel to watch.

Code vein was my first souls like, looking back i was horrible, I chose the coolest looking sword and stuck with it the whole game, didn't know I could use summons but I easily breezed past every boss by playing greedy, got to the last 2 bosses and the game forced me to respec my entire load out, swapping from dex to strength and learning patterns, the Virgin born was the boss that introduced me to soulslikes. Currently getting the platinum trophy for bloodborne, from soft is the goat

as soon as delirum starts charging dodge spam to your left w.o the camera lock on, took me forever to learn to avoid her attacks but you move a bit more slowly while locked on, if you wait a second or dodge right, she'll either smack you or hit you with a poison cloud

It just max defenses every stat. It's crazy how easy it is to do right in the beginning of the game. In the post game however, I opted for full glass cannon and rarely block anything

Code Vein is high key one of my favorite off-shoot Soulslike games. It's completely aware that it's anime fan service bullshit. It has an anime story line, anime moves, anime plot armor, and anime weapons, and yet it still comes off as a genuine game that does it's best to stand out. The blood code system is honestly a genius way of creating class builds, and on a first play through the desire to find every Vestige to see what's available lead to me thoroughly exploring every single area. The emphasis on exploration and interwoven combat (attacks/blocks give Ichor, Ichor casts spells and empowers attack, dodge builds Focus that lets you take the offensive) made the game a lot of fun to play and a truly unique experience compared to some of the other Soulslike games I've played that emulate Dark Souls without properly interating. Also, glad to see that someone aside from me is fucking mad at Mia's loose fucking bra strap holy SHIT that drove me nuts.

It is probably the most unique out of souls-likes I played. If I were to make a sequel, I'd fix all the problems I stated in the video, add way more types of enemies, and definitely more interesting gifts, and the ability to use like 30 of them at some point. I want to have the maximum number of possible actions. In the post-game run (that I'm doing now) there are so many times I wish I could have more than 8 gifts. But alas, it would just be a buff fest I guess. Best thing though is I get to be a cutie in a Souls-like

@@ChallengerAndyOfficial Considering that the game has no PVP and a barely functional multiplayer, I would like them to let you go full power-fantasy and give you options to just spam ultimately powerful attacks. I know it's hard given there's only 8 buttons you could reasonably fit onto a controller, but leaning into "build yourself into an isekai harem protagonist tier powerful" would make it fun.

I saw the title and though "no... there is no way the game's magic system can allow for such a thing; not without driving the player crazy anyways". Looks like I was right. Hell I tried a vanilla mage build and it was still 40% bashing enemies with swords because magic just rans out too quickly.

You are right though. The design flaws of hit boxes. The slow animation of healing or elixir use. The camera. Needing to constantly toggle lock on lock off.
