For those who wonder, the meathook speed is tied to your fps. By using the weapon wheels to slowdown the game, you gain an insane amount of FPS thus flinging the Slayer straight into the second DLC and into his sarcophagus
not exactly, you just keep gaining momentum at the same rate during weapon wheel and when you release, all the accumulated momentum gets released and you fly away to victory. It is very possible on console, just not nearly as effective because of the FPS limit
@@sunbleachedangel Yes, it's my mistake right there. It's actually based on how many frames you are on the meathook, by slowing down time with the weapon wheels, you stay on the meathook for longer and gain more speed. So in a way, it's a combination of both your and my explaination. I keep mistaking that slowing down time = more fps ever since I watched bowsr's shield bulldozer tech video.
A cool feature the devs added in Doom Eternal was that if the demons remain out of sight for too long of a time, they just die so you can continue the game. No more maze wandering to try to find the last demon :)
I love how doom guy can canonically tear apart most demons with his bare hands, yet here he is taking an entire hour to beat up some basic possessed dudes.
I'm pretty sure that my wimpy nerd arms could kill one of those zombies in under two minutes. But I understand that melee and the infinite-ammo pistol had to go to keep "the dance" balanced.
Excuse me? I was saying in my head, "he's gonna get stuck on the first Maurader." Then later said, "okay, there's no way he can do Khan Maykr." Fine. "Icon of Sin?" I'll admit, incredible job. Now time for TAG 1 and 2. 😂😂😂
@@jovan.fitilj8491that's only required if there are more spirits or things left for them to possess if there are demons around to possess then yea, if not, then no
If I was "supposed" to comment after watching, the comment function would only appear after the video has finished playing. People will try to be edgelords over anything online. 😂
Thorougly impressed, didn't think it was possible. The absolute disrespect at 15:41 had me in stitches XD Likewise that little moment at 16:16. That the dash deals more damage than a punch though is concerning.
I came hear already with my expectation down, thinking I would see a guy tun pass by 90% of the enemies and just glitch the bosses. You sir not only impressed me a lit but your way of playing even sound fun to try
The bell sounds when you kill the doom hunters made me laugh pretty hard. Also I never noticed that dashing into enemies does damage! The mechanics of this game are very detailed
The punch had to go in order to not mess up the really good weapon and damage balance they had. Imagine going in, punching something for that small falter and it does enough damage to accidentally kill it, stagger it or whatever else. With the addition of the blood punch, the regular punch had to go in order for this ammo management direction to work. A punch that always works is a freebie and this game wants no freebies, you constantly trade. It looks goofy as fuck but mechanically I get it. The punch itself is also still useful, early on it can be a life saver if you use it to confuse the demons for that split second their "taken back" animation plays, it's not all about damage. And it works like a sort of punishment in the majority of the game, where you can charge up blood punches. If you get confused and go for a blood punch when you don't have one, you get nothing, only yourself in a bad position with demons around you that didn't falter and probably got ready to trigger their short range attacks, like a mancubus for example. Plus, the chainsaw refuels. I think that's a much bigger convenience than the punch being able of damaging demons in the context of this run.
I always thought that the punch would rather be useless anyways. Like, for every minor demon you encounter in Doom 2016 that takes a decent amount of damage from a punch, you fight a hell knight in Eternal that couldn't care less
Hey dude, neat vid! The arachnatron likely did not despawn in the beginning, but rather glitched out on collision. Sometime during a "jump up" animation, they can land on a part where they have no pathing, and the game kills them as a failsafe. So, in other words you got hella lucky Also, to put salt in the wound, you can actually swap out of swinging the crucible on the Khan Maykyr, to still hit her with the crucible, but conserve the charge. So there's 30 min of time save fer yee next run. And don't worry, I won't tell anyone that you swapped back to ITYTD near the end there :3 Great video regardless. Keep it up
Bro! Great video. I would never be able to muster the patience to attempt such a feat. You need to learn the "Shield Raze" tech to make things much easier. Hold weapon wheel until time slows, then release it. Dash into demon and push alt fire to bring out the shield AFTER you make contact. Damage is tied to FPS.
Fun fact: In DOOM 1993, There is a achievement on Xbox called “ Guns are for wussies “ And to get this achievement, You must get 25 demon kills in one single level. This can be done in any episode
Most of the Doom 1 achievements are quotes from the Doom comic. Said comic starts with Doomguy high on a Berserk Pack and screaming "Guns are for-" and I think you know the rest
You are the best doom eternal player... you literally played like doom slayer from the lore, not using his weapons, for a challenge. Not only that, the way u used shielding and dashing is something all of us can implement in our own gameplay, thank you!
Nice work! If you’re active in the doom discord feel free to publish your stuff there, I was doing gunless runs on UN but got kicked out of it before finishing. If you’re wondering, TAG 2 is definitely possible, gunless wise, but TAG 1 isn’t, in short the spirits in Samurs fight don’t die after 3 possessions like normal ones do. I’ve got a video showcasing TAG 2 if you’re interested. All that being said, awesome job!
@@the2401 long story short, when there’s an issue (along the lines of people flooding the chat with spam, trolling, racists, and the like), you’re supposed to go through a bot/messaging thing first, rather than pinging the mods. Majority of the time I’d just skip that step and ping mods. The “final straw” I suppose was me pinging about another spammer.
I have watched a lot of youre doom eternal ultra nightmare videos and haven't heard you speak and you sound exactly how i would have imagined you to sound like and a very nice video keep up the good work
The reason the weapon wheel bug happens is because the game doesn't bother to pause reading your inputs during weapon wheel. If you do enough inputs fast enough (like holding a key down) the game just adds everything all at once the second weapon wheel ends. This is the same way the infinite jump glitch works.
The primary fire of most guns in this game is so reduced in utility (thanks to enemy-specific vulnerabilities and immunities) that honestly a melee-centric loop almost makes more sense. When I watch the gameplay, it almost seems like this was meant to be a melee-oriented game all along.
This was actually so fun to watch?? I struggle to play this game because the buttons are a lot to remember and juggle, it's pretty overwhelming. But watching this challenge makes me wanna play it again and try things I otherwise didn't, maybe it'll make for a more enjoyable time? Haha. Anyway gg for your efforts man. The editing also made me laugh at some points!
Technically speaking, a lot of the weapon options in this game don't fire bullets, so this challenge would be relatively easy if the title was 100% accurate.
actually quite crazy how this man beats the game from nekravol onwards on nightmare mode only with melee weapons when i struggle with guns on nightmare mode.
Ayo!! My fucking boy Geoffplaysguitar with the Doom Eternal Style cover of Radagon of the Golden Order featured in here?!?! That's fucking awesome 🤘🏻🤘🏻
