Don't forget: no companions, Very Hard difficulty, no accelerated/tri barrel, and no power armor or ballistic weave. Not to toot my own horn or anything...
If he was doing a Fallout 4 as Heavy, I feel Ashmaker would’ve been allowed as an equivalent as Sheila. Hell I had a Kneecapper minigun I named Natascha
Casual loop "I then used that minigun to send those raiders to ... Wait there's fall damage in this game oops"(jumps the character off the top of the museum and dies due to broken legs)
The railroad are pretty cool, if you kill them off but leaving deacon alive, he will try to assassinate you at some point, not done smart enough though, he was mauled to death by my base's laser turrets
@@CausalLoop25 I never conversed with them about their ideology, I am surprised I am even allowed to not give them any chances to properly introduce themselves and just leaves with the chip deciphered
Nice work! If I had done this, I probably would have wasted effort making my own ammo. Go Int instead of Luck, set up Abernathy Farm to harvest fertilizer, and use steel shipments to craft the ammo. Though that would've been a lot slower. As far as "balanced" legendary effects for the minigun, I think Plasma, or even Freezing, hits that sweet spot of making the gun worthwhile in the late game, without being too overpowered.
@@molassesman4066 Minigun in NV is really viable because its the only game where 5mm have -10DT. Meaning we can just shred them like its paper. FO made by betsheda didnt have this.
@@molassesman4066 I think there was a Ap version that was even stronger i i used it for the final hoover dam fight. I hoarded ammo like usual and just going in and blasting everything that moves bypassing armor was fine. But by that point courier was a demigod cyber commando so i could use a varmint rifle and it would end the same.
@@xxXXRAPXXxx You mean the ammo? 5mm AP literally took it to new level by making it -15 DT. The unique version has little bit more damage but less capacity, but i think it a bit faster to fire.
I admit I considered that upon seeing the quad barrel option and being reminded of the Black Box, ahaha. Though I have to imagine it'd be even more demanding than the minigun to get ammo for.
I feel like Scout and Engineer themed runs would be the most fun of all the mercenaries. Scout would be a low endurance/high agility build with a sawed-off double barrel, all 4 movement armor pieces, the world series bat, and baseball grenades(jet addiction to simulate Bonk is optional) Engineer would be a shotgun robotics expert traveling the Commonwealth with a modified Sentry Bot. IIRC, there's a body mod for robots that functions as a dispenser, too.
Fallout for as any of the other tf2 mercs would be cool or for a more obscure challenge run could you beat Fallout 4 as Silas Greaves from call of Juarez Gunslinger, you could only use the lever action rifle, the revolver and its western counter part, and the double barrel shotgun.
Meanwhile on mods i use (over 150 so i don't even know which one does it) any enemy with a minigun is instant focus target as even the weakest miniguns have over 10.000 dps. And as they are pretty rare they caught me off guard many times.
This vid was actually inspired by his vid where he beats Fallout 4 with the shredder. He runs out of ammo early in the video, so I wanted to see if it was feasible to do it with just shooting.
@@CausalLoop25 Niiiice! Soooo yeah, you can definitely beat the game in 2 ways with minigun. While shredding the enemy with your blender, you can still farm for some ammo/caps for ammo in the shop.
If you ever decide to do a flamer only run, I’d like to tell you that the easiest way to get ammo is to kill the raiders who constantly respawn at Saugus Ironworks but I don’t know how long it takes for them to respawn
Thanks for the advice, but I will not be doing a Flamer run, given that it has been done by many others before. I may do a Missile Launcher only run as the Solider from TF2, however. Know anywhere to get missiles besides The Castle?
I did this build pretty much but i had to use the ashmaker. I also cheated a bit cus im not gonna conserve ammo like that lolll. Used the ash maker til i got final judgement
Funny thing is the Ashmaker isn't that good, since the +15 fire damage only applies once instead of stacking. Which is a shame, because the weapon is visually very awesome.
@@CausalLoop25 its radiation damage, If you fully iradiate yourself while wearing the child of atom robes it makes you imune to radiation. If you drink after that it won't kill you, it will max out at 9999 but the wiki says its 100,000.
Without shredder I'd not try this! With it the game is definitely beatable. The build of heavy gunner is not my strong suit though. Also I hate Fallout 4 full auto as it's so unbalanced! How do they not know to raise the cost of ammo and it's scarcity while leaving damage alone? That should be so obvious! You'd need to take the Perk to find more ammo and a Perk or too for buying and selling but it'd make the game so much better if ammo was scarce and more expensive. Well they didn't even think to give Commando or Rifleman increased range just Gunslinger so obviously not much thought went into firearms! I just remembered you can craft 5 mm ammo it just takes work!
The problem with the Shredder is that it's WAAYY too OP if you build for it. Power armor prevents the AP drain, so you basically turn into a human BlendTec. What they should have done is raise the Minigun's base damage to 12 and give it... I don't know, 25% armor piercing. Then, they should let you modify it for even more armor piercing, maxing at something like 70 or 80%. The problem with the Minigun is that since the damage is so small, armor cancels it out to almost nothing.
One thing which kinda bugged me is that heavy TF2 is not dumb. He is just very emotional, hence why he may seem like a total dumbass in the game. He even has a PHD in russian literacy. I can definitely see the angle of going with idiot savant though but alternatively considering heavy's smarts going 5 int to get gun nut would have been a viable alternative at the cost of running 1 luck because heavy gets lucked by spies and snipers.
Yeah, could have benefitted from an innate armor pierce and a damage buff. Miniguns SHOULD be powerful, they are miniguns FFS. To balance this, maybe make the recoil a lot more extreme unless you have 8 or more Strength or are wearing Power Armor.
Not as out of the box as you think. Challenge rules never said no console commands. Sure, you can't use the kill command, because you have to damage them with a minigun. But TGM, player.additem (5mm ammo and minigun codes), and maybe a few others, would make this challenge a breeze.
@@callumkristofer7793 While you may be technically correct, it's pretty obvious that would be against the spirit of the challenge. By that logic, I could just make a mod that gives the Minigun infinite ammo and 9000 damage.
@@CausalLoop25 yes, which is technically true. Though that goes somewhat farther than cheating, and it takes a bit more effort to open up the creation kit, change those values, export a .esp/esl, and put that in your data folder. Than just doing "help "5mm" 4" + "player.additem 0001f66c 999999".
