There is actually a “turn in item, get fame” option for the NCR at Camp Forlorn Hope. You can turn in Legion ears to one of the troopers there to boost morale and he’ll give you fame and caps.
Yeah it’s an unmarked quest in NV, they don’t start spawning (except for a few random corpses I think) until you talk to the guy at Forlorn Hope. There was a perk in 3 called… Lawman or Lawbringer I think which was tied to karma.
@@jukingkoolthefirst Lawbringer, where you bring evil characters fingers to the Regulators for caps and good karma, and Contract Killer, where you bring good characters ears to Talon Company for caps and evil karma
It's a happy accident that I didn't need them for fame. I don't think much would've changed in the outcome if I'd used Legion ears for NCR fame instead of doing quests, just a shorter video
I'd like to see a "Can you beat Fallout: New Vegas by playing however you want" run where Mitten Squad just plays however he wants. I wanna see how this glorious god-gamer enjoys the game without any restrictions
Me: "Oh, so it's a nearly pacifist run, wonder what he's going to do." Mittens: "First of all, we kill people with dynamite, which counts as not killing them." Me: "Alrighty then."
A nice easy "challenge" for you to relax with. "Can you beat fallout New Vegas with only passive HP Regen" You may only heal damaged limbs with items/doctors etc. Any consumable that gives HP is banned or must be modded to give no HP. You can only heal with the Follower implant, the halos from Old World Blues, Solar Powered, Rad Child, and the armor from nuking the NCR in lonesome road. I sometimes call it "Can you beat New Vegas as Wolverine with allergies" or "Can you beat New Vegas as a Cover Shooter."
I read that as “HP Regan”, now I want to see him try to beat New Vegas as half H.P. Lovecraft and half Ronald Regan, which would just be a very racist very rich economist with too much charisma.
Imagine if you could actually win the game this way, like all the factions trust you so much their willing to work together under your rule and settle their differences peacefully without war
@@FecalMatador It depends how you define faction. In the older games like Fallout 2, yes, because the endgame always involves antagonists without a rep attached. But in Fallout 4 and New Vegas apparently, there's the Legion and the Institute and the endgame puts them on a mutually exclusive side from everyone else. I cannot say if Fallout 3 has this issue but since the Enclave is the endgame antagonist like in 2, I'd imagine it's like 2 and probably 1 where the main ending has no divergence. So I think in any Fallout game where the very main questline has different factions you can choose, no.
@@jimmyjam5517 yet the brotherhood and the ncr can have a ending with a aliance between the two on the mojave chapter, it is how ever unlikely since you have the actual leader of the legion in the game which makes any aliance between them not as easy. Still a fun idea
@@FecalMatador Obsidian had a problem with time management and scope creep. If they had more time to work on this then something else would have fallen by the wayside
I once created a new character with the sole purpose of being idolized by Goodsprings despite having murdered all of Goodsprings. Perfectly possible, if you're careful with your sneak attacks and have a lot of patience. Sadly you can't do that with many factions, since many have NPCs whose murder always registers, most notably Cursor Lucullus, Lucius, Col. Moore and The King. (Since NV doesn't have immortals, this is necessary to prevent you from breaking the questlines.)
I did the whole quest all the way through and managed to save the dad's boy and revealed Mortimer for his trickery, but somehow they all wanted to kill me at the end. I reloaded the save like 25 times trying to do this quest and I was fed up honestly. One mass murder later and thankfully I can forget about the whole ordeal.
Rest in Peace man, I dont even know what to say anymore. I was hoping for the best. I was hoping one day Id just see a notif and "whoop, theres a Mittensquad video uploaded just now" and see you in your usual style. Now for the better, having won the battle. I will never forget you man, I will never forget how you impacted my life. How you helped me out of some rough spots in a time where I had sat here, with untreated ADHD where I thought I was going insane at times. If anyone deserved this fate, it wasnt you. Rest in Peace my friend.
He may not have beat NV while being idolised by everyone, but he damn well did beat the game of life while being loved by many. Rest in peace, Paul. I hope the real game is beginning up there.
i cant play fnv without console commands, i need good armor (by which i mean plot armor) unironically though i take the role-playing in rpg pretty far ngl
Did you know, if you do the powder ganger exp exploit to level 50 (or just a bunch) and take perks, when you leave town you can choose to respec, but you keep all selected perks? This allows you to have up to 25 more perks than normal, including one more of the lv 50 karma perks.
Note this doesn't work for ALL perks. Most of them, especially high level and high skill requirement perks, will carry over, but the majority of your low level perks, including things like Black Widow/Lady Killer and Comprehension, will not carry over. The wiki has a full list of the perks and traits that carry over after leaving Goodsprings and respec'ing, so anyone who wants to attempt this exploit (which is quite fun) should take a look there to maximize their possible cheese.
i've been watching this guys videos non stop for a week bc i got back into fallout, didn't even realize till now when i read the comments that he had passed away. rip man you're a legend
The legion has an easy rep exploit too. It's the line about defusing mines, similar to the goodsprings one except its an explosives check. It's the easiest/fastest way to get the lucky shades without killing any ncr.
@@doughboywhine tbf sneak killing them is even easier and just requires a decent silenced weapon. The unique BB gun can one shot silently at range, and is free to aquire
"Knowledge is a disease best spread with love" is a phrase echoing in my mind now. Something about that line in particular shook something loose in my brain.
I did a run like this, it was an "Invincible" type run, I started getting liked/idolized by everyone the when the time came I killed everything that moved
Now try to do this IRL. Identify a dozen or so “factions” in your local area and become idolized by each. - County government - Rotary Club - Volunteer FD - Local Hells Angels chapter - Nearest Federal Military installation - Home owners association - Etc…
Oh God I was just scrolling and this popped up on my feed. I still can't believe Paul is gone. You were idolized by everyone, Paul. You positively impacted all of our lives, and you can never be replaced. Rest in peace, you mad lad.
The dynamite exploit reminds me of the super stim exploit I'd used as a wee lad to clear Fallout 2 with no Kills on my rep panel, aside from the final boss who is always flagged as 1 "Big Bad Boss" kill regardless of whether or not you take literally any action yourself or manage to turn every NPC against him. Super Stimpacks being a healing chem didn't aggro when used on a NPC but inflict a small amount of damage a while after use. Provided you could farm or craft enough of them, you could dose a NPC with up to dozens of them, then wait a few hours, and the ticks of damage could occur all at once and one-shot them.
It damn near makes me cry seeing all the love everyone had for him. I was only a fan for about 10 months but ill miss him so much just from his content. Rest in peace brother
I keep being suprised when Paul says he didn't finish the challenge at the end. His challenges are entertaining and so in my eyes he beats every challenge
I really like how even in a run where you would theoretically have to cut down on the killing so as not to vilify yourself, you still found a ways to be murderous. Also “Obsidian only had 18 hours to make New Vegas” cracked me up probably more than it should have.
I just realized what I love the most about these videos. This guy does not ever waste my time. No stupid pre-roll no tedious introductions bare minimum sign off this is how it should be done thank you
RIP king. I hope you know your content still brings me some joy whenever I stumble on a new challenge I hadn’t see from you somehow. For just a bittersweet second makes you forget.
Im pretty sure that you can finish off Dead Money and looking at Sinclair records in the process, you'll have 10 out of 11 factions idolizing you, but the game is finished since you're trapped in the vault.
@@Fekus69 you can only do that while being antagonized by NCR, meaning that's 9 out of 11 factions idolizing Courier, in getting trapped you acquire the maximum amount of idolizing factions.
You should do a Skyrim: Matrix challenge. Only use slow time and pick arrows out of the air and use them to damage enemies. (Alduin being the exception, use some kind of redirect attack maybe? That’s Matrix-y.
what's the deal with redirecting arrows? i don't recall a ton of bullet bendng in the matrix also, kinda a PITA - what about the melee enemies? what about random animals, or dragur bosses without arrows in the room?
I don’t know if anyone will see this, but there is an exploit (similar to the one used with Chet) to get fame with the legion. Although it only worked for me on PC, if I followed a specific speech pattern. If you speak to Decanus Severus at Cottonwood Cove and pass an Explosives skill check of 50, you can repeatedly tell him how to disarm NCR Frag Mines. Every time you do it, you get rewarded with Legion fame. Rest in Peace Paul ❤ I can’t stop re-watching all of your videos.
@@luchaluchalucha fuck all the pre 3D fallout games man. Other people might like them but they may as well not even exist for me. Idk. I guess I might like them if I tried to play them some day but it’d be hard for me to get into. I play games for the action, not for the dialogue and story. Every time I play fallout 4 or cod I just button mash and spam through dialogue. It’s easy in fallout 4 because on Xbox the A button is always the right thing to say for everything conversation. It agrees to every quest and is always the most polite answer. I love that. If I had to sit through every single dialogue and have to actually figure out the best or right answer then I honestly probably wouldn’t even play fallout 4 🤷🏻♂️😏
Just going back through past videos of yours and remembering your voice. Been with you for a long time and sad to hear about you leaving us. Wanted to leave this post here so people who are fighting demons, you're not alone
10/10 challenge idea Paul. You continue to make some of the most fun to watch content on RU-vid. Keep it up and remember that all of your fans are proud of how you've improved your life!
Can you beat Fallout New Vegas as a vampire? You can unlock the perk at lvl 4 and it can be the only way you heal No other methods of healing, except for drinking blood.
i mean, he beat it without taking any damage. gonna go out on a limb and say yes. but then, that's a given, and it's just a flimsy pretext to 'mitten, play this game again, make a video, so we can enjoy your content'
I remember having a save on xbox 360 where I tried to be idolized by almost everyone. It took previous knowledge of in game mechanics and a lot of research on wiki pages and lot of planning. I guess I messed up on the planning part at some point because I was only able to get Smiling Troublemaker with the powder gangers
I’m incredibly late to the news of your passing but I just found out today during this video what happened. Thanks for everything man. You were my favourite challenge run channel on here and have entertained me for hours when I needed it. Sorry you never got to finish those videos you wanted to upload.
I tried to do this run with one of my characters who had the backstory that she was a frozen spy and wanted a stake in every faction. I got stuck by the end of the major factions quests before Kimball's arrival, it seemed the game needed me to make a choice.
Hey Paul, bèn a long time, i heard the news, gonna miss you, you brought a lot of light to my life. I hope you save scummed your waybthroughbthe pearly gates
You are the voice that brings me peace, where i go when life is too much. Ill regret not knowing the man behind the mitten but im glad your misadventures will be around for as long as i need them, rest in sovengard paul of mitten squad may the real game begin
Was looking for some old New Vegas content to listen too and Paul's vid was near top of the list, hope his content endures for years to come, RIP Paul thank you for the laughs.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy has been severed. Sadly we cannot reload a save for you. RIP, and hopefully you're playing the real game now
This was always my favorite video from Paul, feel like we didn’t get to see him playthrough a game this extensively. Insert something about the real game beginning
yo quick question, so i saw mittens obituary (RIP) and it said his names Joseph or something, but everyone whom has wished him well has called him paul, just wondering about the difference
@@bird8847miss our fella, use it as a lesson. take care of yourself when it comes to substance, but also rip addiction is not easy and i hope wherever he is, i know hes thriving
I think the secret ending of Dead Money DLC Does not take away reputation points of any factions. Yeah, you kinda kill them all, but tecnically you dont loose reputation
He completed life while being Idolized by everyone. Godspeed sir, Godspeed. (Edit: someone else already said something similar but better so go give them a like.)
