It would be cool if you could put a counter on the screen that shows your hours played at that point. That way we can see how much grinding you do at different sections its required.

I think a quicker way to recover from supernova would be to use Angel whisper to fully heal one character, then have that character use white wind. Cool challenge though!

Is it even a question? In my last playthrough I torched the early game with Beta before collecting Trine, Aqualung and Magic Breath to round out my elemental coverage with White Wind and Mighty Guard for pretty much invincible support. Enemy Skill is soooo much better than magic or summons.

A run I had a lot of fun with, and I'd like to see your take on, is a solo Blue Mage run through FF5. I'd done team battles with that and it was really easy due to cheese. Solo removes two of the biggest cheese moves. (Death Claw and L5 Death.)

did u try moving cloud to front or back, or changing their order to see if that helped in the first Reno fight? maybe Reno is programmed to use that attack on the player in the first position more often, or something. idk, just wishing there was a way to make that fight easier to do like this!

Back row + sadness is what FF7 low level runs live on from what I understand. I used that strategy to get Beta from the big scary swamp snek as soon as possible the last time I played.

24:50 I read an interview or ultimania translation or something where Supernova is actually just a Teleportation spell. He teleport's Cloud and his party to a far off planet in a far off time for its destruction to hurt them.

Its better if its a genjutsu/mind attack where you are shown literal world end..that is why you also get status affects like confusion.

I feel like that makes sense. Sephiroth is in the the dramatic anime JRPG version of a midlife crisis and a legitimate existential crisis. He is trying to subvert this by being a god, and I would imagine he would actually be so insecure he would basically do a thing like supernova to say “this is the power I can wield, but you are not worth my power to instantly destroy”.

Just wanted to clarify a couple things about Sephiroth here. 1. Supernova Is a real supernova, for those who believe it's some illusion spell or something. From most of info we see/know in a bunch of places, it does seem to be an actual supernova. Cloud and Sephy can tank that shiz. Crazy I know. 2. Now that we know that, why doesn't Sephy just blow the planet up? Well, there are a couple things here. First off, he doesn't want to. We must remember that Sephy adopts Jenovas goals for himself. Jenova herself seems to be some kind of "planet eating" alien. Sephy too, wants to do this. He simply wants to wound the planet so that it's forced to use what is essentially its life force so that he can absorb it and become even more godlike. Lets also not forget that Sephy is a bit of a douche and takes things personally. He doesn't want a quick end for the planet or for Cloud. He wants to torment him and destroy what Cloud cares for. Stated by him multiple times all over the place. He would rather slowly kill everyone on the planet while Cloud watches before he even attempts to kill Cloud. (if he even wants that anymore lol) I've also seen people theorize that apparently "meteor" is the most powerful magic in 7, but that doesn't mean it has the most destructive Aoe dmg in 7. Meaning it's possibly more powerful than a supernova but is condensed into a smaller area. This would still make sense in game too, for what is said about it.

The zolem will always eject the character that damaged it after its standing on its tail. meaning you need to be damaging it with another character to even have a chance to learn beta. this would be a lot more interesting if you could customize the game a bit making more e-skills available while still in midgar.

Pandora's Box only getting cast once was a bug in the coding of the DZ enemy. It was supposed to only cast once per fight, but instead it was written to never be cast again from any DZ. Absolutely infuriated me when I accidentally missed it on my third ES Materia the last time I played FF7.

About that bug it still occurs if it uses Shadow Flare first which if it does it won't HAVE the MP LEFT to use Pandora's Box yet when DZ tries to use it and FAILS due to not having the MP cost the OTHER DZ's will NEVER attempt to use it ON that game. So its best to get Shadow Flare itself off of Ultima weapon ON disc 2 if you can.

9:30 You do know that the Zolom ejects whoever does the last hit that puts it below 2000 HP, right? So if Aerith is the only one attacking, he will always eject her.

FFX challenge rules: No using the attack command or the item command Cannot cast spells or use items outside of combat No overdrives No Summons None of the "extract" abilities are allowed as they do full attack damage and only cost 1 mp No two characters can take the same node (possible exception of Lancet as I think lancet is required to beat this challenge) How far can you take this challenge I wonder?

Try a pacifist run. You can only use items, spells, or skills that target yourself or your allies. Don't know if it's possible or not, bit I think it would be fun to see.

How much of a masochist would you need to be to do FF12 proud mode? I attempted it, and got stuck at the final story boss. Also, trying to do the Subterra was an utter nightmare.

@@Primalliquid92 Forgot about the FF9 challenge. I guess I need to rewatch it. Actually, after looking into FF8, there are two ways to do an item only run. First method: Play normally to learn Card and Card Mod. Also allow yourself to do damage by any means in battles where you Card normal enemies for boss cards early on for the sake of stocking up on stones. (Bite Bug for Elvoret = 10 Death Stones; Buel/Bomb for Krysta = 10 Holy Stones; Grendel for Tiamat = 10 Flare Stones). Second method: Play normally until you get Siren, then learn Card Mod and Tool-RF ASAP. Then play cards to be able to refine cards to tools to stones. (4 Blobra = Rune Armlet = 10 Shell Stones; 3 Adamantoise = Turtle Shell = 10 Protect Stones; 10 Ruby Dragon = Inferno Fang = 2 Flare Stones; 3 Iron Giant = Star Fragment = 2 Meteor Stones; 10 Elnoyle = Energy Crystal = 2 Ultima Stones) Then start supplementing with boss cards that mod directly to stones when you can start winning them (starting with Elvoret and Krysta in Galbadia Garden). Then, after hours of work to stock up on stones, use them to deal all your damage, playing more cards whenever you need to restock. Whether or not you allow yourself to refine magic and junction is up to you.

You know you can use white wind on gi natak and it does a ton of damage? It also puts all status effects on them, because white wind heals 50% of your health and cures all status effects, so it does the opposite to undead.

Midgar Zolom will always eject the character who dealt the most damage to it, so it could only ever eject Aerith since she was the only one attacking it. So you were pretty much screwed when you tried to learn Beta on both materia at once.

I think when Zolom goes down to a certain HP the "next" attack is an eject counter attack on the person who attacked him next

Nope it will always Eject the LAST 2 party members that IT HIT BEFORE Beta is used UNLESS you use Planet Protector to be immune FROM the Eject effect the only way for 2 Enemy skills to have Beta on it its to set BOTHG of them ON 1 party member and once It loses at least 2000 o its HP never attack with him/her.

???? only costs 3 MP and deals the damage corresponding to the difference between max and current HP. You could have used it instead of powering up Chocobuckle to avoid the grinding. But then again, grinding has never stopped you.

About that NOT UNTIL AFTER Gogo can join reason being the Espers can ONLY be summoned ONCE PER battle once you CAN use them UNLESS you have Gogo mime them and by games end all of them damage wise SUCK besides Bahamut.

Also for the first espers Kirin only regens HP Cait Sith confuse status so its useless for boss fights Siren Silence status so its just as useless and Ramuh lighting based is your only attack esper once per battle once you get the first 4 in game. While you CAN use that 1 item that summons a random esper more then once PER battle in FF6 since those CAN randomly summon Crusader only to have it even at lv 99 kill your entire party instantly that isn't a option.

You can survive "supernova" because he's not really destroying a galaxy. He's a astronomy nerd, and he's just blowing up a model he has on the other side of the crater.

NOT WORTH it you would need to run 9999 times TO get 9999 damage out of it and even then ITS PHYSICAL damage so Diamond weapon would eventually be IMMUNE To it.

Pretty sure you can. White Wind also inflicts all statuses on undead since it heals them on the living, so sometimes you can even petrify regular enemies with WW if they're undead.

Enemy Skill was always one of my favorite materia to use in FF7; Matra Magic, a fairly strong multitarget attack avaliable as soon as you leave Midgar, arguably the best versions of White Wind and Mighty Guard, really cool looking attacks like Beta, Trine, and Shadow Flare; the works Man, I love Blue Mages in Final Fantasy

You should check Blue Mage in final Fantasy XI online. Watch videos and you'll see how crazy cool it is. Also...XIV blue doesn't exist lol.

@@MiBrCo4177 Yes, it does. "The Blue Mage is a limited job in Final Fantasy XIV introduced in Stormblood Patch 4.5. It is not associated with any class and can only learn actions/abilities from enemies. Blue Mages have a lower level cap than other jobs, initially reaching a maximum level of 50 on release, which was raised to 60 in patch 5.15 and further to 70 in patch 5.45. Blue Mages can adopt the roles of tank, healer, or DPS based on the spells the player equips and Aetherial Mimicry. Its role as a limited job restricts the type of content it can participate in, making many blue mage activities self-contained."

I mean he probably did fail the challenge from the beginning anyways... Not sure how he would have had any enemy skill materia from the start of the game getting off the train... There was a jump cut from train to naming characters to the beginners hall... Maybe his version starts with Enemy skill but swear he said had to go to beginner hall to get his first one via a cheat...

@@michaelhanson5773 0:05 Rules of the challenge. Yes, that's exactly what he did, get to 7th heaven the normal way as no control over materia at that point. Then edit in enemy skill, and the actual challenge starts from there. It's like some other challenge channels (can you win using only Cloud - ignoring parts of the game where you literally can't play as Cloud)

FF7 Hardcore Nuzlocke: You can't overlevel opponents, you can’t use items in battle, if a character falls in battle they are dead and cannot be used again, and you cannot reload old saves to bypass deaths. If you do not have any valid characters to complete a section of the game (such as Barret is dead but you haven't beaten Dyne yet, or Barret and Cait are dead and you haven't escaped from Junon during the WEAPON raid yet), you have failed the run and must restart from the beginning.

Sigh... Good ol' Blue Mage blues... I've always loved Blue Magic as a concept (and a classs, since Blue Mage is my favourite class) but it's a flawed one in most entries it's in: late availability in some, poor spell repertoire in others and/or way too expensive to rely on... Final Fantasy 5 version of it may very well be the best take on Blue Magic (available very early on the game, with a massive and diverse spell repertoire perfect as both main and secondary class and incredibly MP friendly to boot), which is both ironic and a shame... You should have got ???? from the floating scales from the Shinra mansion. When you was low on health you could have done plenty of damage especially against Demons Gate.

You know what I'd love to see? A mod for one of the Final Fantasy games that lets you control the enemies. That way we can see a Primaliquid Vs chat challenge

I love Blue Magic, it has always been my favourite concept within this whole franchise. That being said... FF5 Blue Mages only, FF6 Rages and Lores only & FF8 Blue Magic Limit Breaks only? I'm not quite sadistic enough to recommend this challenge in FF9 or 10 mind you... Although I did delete that part from my comment to write this.

So for FF6 rages, wouldn't you be limited to Gau (and by extension Gogo) and that could be problematic in areas where you have to split your party (Kefka's Tower primarily). I'd probably say it's ok to use a specific character that you cast Berserk (allowing Umaro for endgame) on themselves (since anyone can learn it, I'd suggest Locke and Celes) but limit shenanigans like 8x attacks not allowed. Final party I suppose would have to be Gau, Gogo, and Umaro all taking on the tower + Kefka in single man parties (which is possible if they are grinded up because some of Gau's rages are particularly strong and Umaro with haste should be plenty strong enough). I limited myself to 3 characters once and if they are sufficiently leveled it's really not too bad to finish off the game, but being uncontrollable would really necessitate using the proper Gau rages. Mog might be an option as well if he only dances, I guess. FF6 autobattler challenge.

Im sure you could. Because that materia is broken. Big Guard, Magic Hammer, Angel Whisper, White Wind, etc.

@@calemr true but the enemy skills you can get make up for it. (Protect and Shell for all team members, full heal plus removal of negative states, auto revive, magic restoration, powerful abilities, plus other skills)

I've done this before. Even beat Ruby. Also maybe try Initial equipment and no materia except ES/Manipulate. Its still extremely doable and really not that hard Also the star of ES only runs is ???.

In FF5, could you try a Blue Magic Only challenge run please? I do quite enjoy these challenge run videos~ ^^ Edit: I'm told bosses can be mathed to death w/ Dark Spark, LV5 Death, and LV2 Old. Let's not be using those 3 blue magics in particular~ ^^ >;D

Its way to easy man. Nearly every single boss can be mathed to death with dark spark, level 5 death, and level 2 old. In a four job fiesta the blue mage is considered to be a god/s tier class as getting it basically guarentees the triple crown regardless of whatever you roll. will be pretty easy and omega weapon and shinryu are instantly beatable. 1 crown is credits 2 crowns is credits + 1 superboss 3 crowns is credits + both superbosses

Anything else in the Blue Mages toolkit that's too good too early too cheesy, that if use of is allowed; renders the rest of the otherwise-decent Blue Magic moot, and therefore wouldn't really result in a showcase of the variety of the Blue Magic toolkit?

@RadiantDarkBlaze that could be fun. Lots of unique strats even if you just remove dark spark/lv 5 death and old. Leave in level 3 flare, and gravity cause it would only work on mobs that are already that level. Cool things like goblin punch doing 8x damage to mobs of the same level. Actually using aero, vampire, snapping rods. I still imagine it would be pretty easy but i've personally beat the whole game with just freelancers at this point. I wish i could play a four job fiesta blind again but those days are gone :(

There is a ring that absorbs water damage right before you fight the jenova in coral village... she literally can't kill the person who equips it because all she does is water damage. So I'm incredibly confused how you took damage on all 3 of your characters in that fight...

Dude, Beta is disc 1 nuke, seriously. The damage can keep up until the end game, given that it hits all enemies for just a little MP. Fire3 deals barely double damage, but also costs that much more and is only single target. And although later there are bigger power houses it is not even miserable in northern crater.

Can you beat any FF while permanently confused? Rules: -Mod the game to permanently afflict all regular party members with confuse, with no way to remove it. -You can equip whatever you want to modify stats, resistances, and available abilities. That's it! See if you can do this and have fun watching the chaos!!!
