Can You Beat MH4U LOW Rank Without Sharpening? 

Hey guys it's thanks to you that I was able to fix my emulator. I will be finishing this challenge. Since I was almost done with Singleplayer anyway, I would like to know from you guys if you want me to do the G-rank version of this challenge. the reason that rathalos move was removed is probably because it's neither fun not challenging. you can't hurt him, and the attack is easily dodged. the attack even got a nickname because of its infamy: rathalos world tour.

Yeah, Charge Blade was crazy in 4U. Kinda weird how you can only get a Water-element CB *after* fighting Gravios, though.

Delete your emulator folder, redownload (if you don't have the zip file/installer), reinstall in a different folder. You must have touched a setting you shouldn't have touch xD AH, make sure you make a backup of your save file! (right click on your game and open save data location)

I played monster hunter 3 ultimate and Generations without decos without noticing that they where important xD. Thougt they would be some kiend of skin.

Hold Up, i have about 1200 Hours in MH4U and i dont even remember the Ratha having that flying-around and Shooting Fireballs Attack. Man, i should revisit it again

Great video! The only strategy change I would have done is using Switch Axe, as it gets intrinsic Mind's Eye in sword mode and even the basic reload function give you plenty of uptime. Still, fascinating challenge, and I'm lucky enough I can go straight to part two!

I enjoyed the challenge attempt. Regardless of that emulator breaking error, I was reminiscent of having played MH4U through your skillful gameplay. Thank you.

When I saw the tittle of your video I was like this is impossible but I saw that you were managing pretty well so hopefully you get your emulator fixed ( Also when I saw you were using charge blade I was like get the aragnoscale charge blade because that’s the one I use lol also the full seregios armor set)

What a rad video!! This challenge sounds like a real killer

You should use an unofficial Citra build like Citra Valentin or his newer emulator based on Citra - vvctre. Official Citra builds are getting better for MH but for a long time they have lacked basic fixes that we've had available for years. You should encounter zero issues with that.

I think having skills that effect sharpness should be allowed because if the challenge is just don’t sharpen well increasing your sharpen or making it last longer would be helpful.

I think using a hunting horn works well since you get free minds eye. But yeah charge blade was the undisputed king of weapons back in 4u lol

Nice challenge, and yeah the CB was busted in 4U. Small thing though, can you try turning up the volume a little bit please? I had to raise the volume on my headphones to listen to you, and got scared tf out when I got a WA notif lol.

Doesn’t bludgeoner only affect damage dealt with lower sharpness? Given the rules, bludgeoner doesn’t affect the rate of which sharpness is lost, so on a technicality, you could use bludgeoner as the negative sharpness mod for yellow and lower balance the damage boost given

The charge blade is my favorite weapon, it's like a switch axe, but it can block! What else do you want? It's just great.

Im playing through MH4U and I just beat Gravios, and Im a charge blade main, my question is, what armor would someone recommend I use for the rest of low rank? Right now Im using the High Metal armor because it has Artillery on it. Also should I make the Gore CB or just stick with the Keiser CB?

Awesome video, dude i used have the same problem in the emulator, just do right click and choose to play with your nvidia graphics, because it runs with the intel itegraded, and performance goes up to 10 times

How did you find the emulator? And how are the controls?

Still sad that I lost my copy of 4u ages ago. Need to figure out a 3ds emulator so I can play the Charge Blade’s glory game once again.

I was playing mh4u yesterday and I farmed for a while to upgrade my charge blade to green sharpness and then slayed saltas in like 3 minutes

I forgot how absurd charge blade was in this game lol

Beating mhw without sharpening Rules: 1. disable whetstone from your item selection and radial menu. 2. Do not use whetfish or whetfish+ 3. No skills and set bonuses related to sharpness. Speed sharpening and protective polish are allowed because rules 1 & 2 render them null and void due to the need to use sharpening items to activate. 4. Don't go inside the tent at camp. 5. No gunner weapons.

You could just get back to that part with better gear then switch back when you get to where you were last.

i'm saying this before i watch the video, but i'm fairly certain it is possible to beat the game without sharpening i played 4 ultimate when i was young and i didn't understand the concept of sharpening and upgrading gear so i had to get tactical and i would learn a monster's moveset before i took an actual go at the fight when i fought monsters, i would find attack indicators and walk a few steps away and then attack when either it stopped attacking or it had a huge window that i could hit them a few times there was a lot, and i mean *A LOT* of weapon bouncing, but i dealt with it because i knew it was a feature of the game, and i think the main damage dealers throughout all of it were my palicoes because if i remember correctly their attacks didn't/don't bounce (each hunt lasted at least 30 to 40 minutes but they were still fun) so i played and played and played and still had all of the starter gear up until somewhere between HR 3 to 5 when i had to ask my brother (who also played the game and is much older than me) for help and he taught me how to upgrade my equipment and the effectiveness of sharpening (i would just sharpen randomly because i had no clue what it did, plus i still kept my tactical strategy of avoiding damage and only attacking during large windows anyways but cleared hunts a lot faster due to my *MUCH* higher attack) so the whole point of this comment is that i got pretty far (for my age at the time) without upgrading literally anything, and now i want to challenge you to see how far you can get into the game without upgrading your equipment

Answering your hypothetical. Yes, it is possible to beat 4U without sharpening BUT only using CB, since phials don't really care about the multiplier values and you can just SAED spam everything to death. However, using other weapons, I don't think so.
