Hey guys, if you're interested in more GiantGrantGames content, my second channel is releasing vods from a run where Twitch chat could directly influence the game while I played through Starcraft 2, trolling me with Cannon Rushes, Motherships, Nukes and more! The entire experience was an insane mess in the best way possible and you can watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-igyZoz70m8k.html
GGG i really apprecciate how you bought the Ice monster shards just to trick us into thinking you were gonna use them to beat the final level, Well done
@@anonvideo738 The main comment is calling it poetic because this whole series has been shaped by the jank of reforged, so it's fitting that the ending would only be possible in it.
I think what he said was like "Why do you guys keep suggesting siege engines? they're not even good" and when it started working "I'm so mad that this is working". and now we have a 'honk' emote on twitch
"The Scourge campaign has a unique mechanic--" And, Pavlovian, my brain fills in: "There are eight maps scattered around Azeroth. Each is guarded by a progressively stronger force of enemies."
Grant: "I need to beat some incredibly difficult missions in an RTS game" The viewer: "I wonder how he is going to defend against the attacj waves..." Grant: "Base trade it is"/skips aquiring the base in the first place
i found out the base trick in return the very first time. it was a bit of a slog cause i didnt know that you could just beat the second part with sapphiron, but i was just happy i found an exploit on my own.
They said they cant find people in the mountains. And it's more than 20 peasants. They can't give you 100 peasants per wave for the sake of your computer at the time.
It looks like undead are permanent underdogs. They are always weaker then opponent. First human campaign - is easy and you were helping them all along. Second campaign. Siege of Rivendale: elves have those rider that are vastly superior to anything in undead army. Next: fell orcs. They are insanely powerfull, compared to undead foces, have chaos damage, insane spells, and red dragons. And so on. Naga, demons, cool human heroes of level 15 from bonus campaign - everything makes scourge look like joke. I can think of only 2 factions that look as weak: satires and drenei.
personally i would have voted "Yes" on allowing posession. Your Banshee doesn't go away, she just becomes the posessed unit. more like changing clothes then anything else.
Same. I find it weird that an "overwhelming" amount of people denied it. I would have understood if it was a timed thing. But the possession is permanent...
@@peffiSC2source I can see your point, but I would want grant to use possesion because the banshee is not playable in the other mission. and this run felt kinda the same as others but i guess repetitive is rule's middle name And fighing banshee possesion in deathless run is way more awesome and infutriating
Eh , depends , it changes the unit limit count , disappears itself , cannot be taken back and is gaining completely different stats and abilities. It's more of a "unfair exchange" , so I would say that it's very well a death of a banshee , though I'd say only from a technical standpoint , not from any other ones .
The Forgotten One was supposed to cast Flamestrike, Firebolt, and Charm. Reforged is such a shitshow. EDIT: He also had Spawn Tentacle. I forgot about that one
@@franelabus9182 There actually is. There are runes of spell shield spread around the arena. I think they can counteract charm because the boss has a unit variant (like the one Queen of Suffering has), not the one Sylvanas has. But I'm not sure. I might be totally wrong.
Yah kinda like the last Orc mission in Reign of Chaos, he found a way to cheese what would have been an incredibly difficult mission, in the last Undead mission’s case, I’d say maybe even near impossible to do normally deathless
@@honourabledoctoredwinmoria3126 If I ever get some significant free time I might have to give this a try. Although the 500 damage trigger might just ruin my day. But I thought there was a way of doing it where you take the oblisks at the 3:00 and 9:00 position, build your necropolises there and a fuck ton of towers and defend and build up, then beat Illidan when he tries to take it, and eventually you've got enough stuff that you just grind out the 12:00 base slowly, pulling units back as need be... But saying it is one thing, pulling it off is another matter entirely. Still, I might need to give it a shot.
@@Norrieification Well it's really hard cause the AI cheats their ass off, they have infinite money and 3 bases constantly maxed out pumping forces is hard to stop even when losing units
I love how you find so many strats that basically boil down to 101 ways to make the ai do dumb things or not trigger at all. It's fascinating watching these.
I’m a bit sad that the Warcraft deathless ends here, even though reforged is such a broken mess. Though I’m still full of hope on what else you’ll do in the future. It’s great that in these times where no one really cares about RTS games that you make such incredibly fun to watch content!
Yeah, seeing him doing custom campaigns deathless would have been amazing, especially because believe it or not, the difficulty ramps up even more than in the regular campaigns (try Curse of the Forsaken on hard or the second books of Legends of Arkain, they're quite something). I personally asked him about this in his Discord server, and he said that he thinks custom content could be fun, but it leads to less engagement due to its lower popularity, meaning that his videos get less views and the algorithm really screws with his channel. I just hope that he at least considers doing it on Twitch while uploading both failed and successful runs on the Archives channel. But another challenge on the base campaigns would make me quite happy too.
Why wont he play bonus campaign? It will be more challenging that you might think. He starts with level one Misha so he has to Keep her. Also if heroes dies, respawn or not it is still a death. Some quests like Seal the tunnels might actually be impossible.
Fun fact: the last Sylvanas mission was the last one he did on stream - he completed the final mission before that one, struggling like crazy with the last two Sylvanas missions (watched them on VoD). Was looking forward to this movie and I was honestly not disappointed.
@@vienalicaway2585 I watched them on his Twitch but they were removed after a certain amount of time (I think Twitch only holds VoDs for 2 months and I watched them a couple of days after the stream).
The objective of beating Warcraft 3 without losing an unit is super unique. There are eight campaigns, each guarded by a progressively stronger force of enemies.
@@PRubin-rh4sr ...considering that's a very "Diablo" style open adventure thing, is there even any units you can lose in that in order to have a deathless run? I genuinely don't remember if you get anything besides your hero units, and I vaguely recall that you lose if any of them die.
@@iusemyrealnamebefore Fair point. I wonder how far you could push the Founding of Durotar as a "save allies whenever possible" run. It would be ridiculously difficult, no doubt, but I'd be curious to see someone at least do a "discussion" video on the idea of it. Not strictly attempt it, for obvious reasons, but just to highlight what challenges it would present.
i cant believe you can simply cheese the last Mission of WC3 in such a way. It took me almost 2 weeks to beat this as a kid... that mission is so brutal.. Well done Grant! This whole Deathless series was an absolute pleasure to watch!
I was ready to argue that the posses ability does not kill your unit but the one inside the host body, but man this rule made the video so much more entertaining. Nice job!
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo all this time, since the moment the series started I was thinking "But I *know* you can't beat WC3FT deathless, because the last mission is impossibly hard". I got trolled!
Oh cool a new deathless run. Time to binge through the series again ... and again ... and again. Yes, these are quite comforting to run as a background insonation :D
Now I wonder what the bonus campaign would be like deathless? Since you can't use quillboars you will be losing out on a lot of DPS, and managing Misha's HP would also be pretty rough, but then again the bonus campaign was basically WOW in W3 engine so maybe it isn't that far off?
that's because by the end of campaigh, you'll probably not do wacky sheesy stuff and will just buildbuildbuild an army to wipe out Illidan from the face of the world while Sylvanas's missions are midgame to end-midgame so you will still have some creativity left in your brain
Funnily enough, they were actually the final boss of the run- since the Sylvannas and Arthas portions of the campaign don't actually affect each other after the split, Grant did the last Arthas missions first, then went back to finish the three Sylvannas missions.
@@The-jy3yq I am doing the classic warcraft 3 campaign and I'm at the last campaign now and that mission scares me. I remember playing the campaign on normal years ago and I had the problem where hard was too hard and normal was too easy, so I had to settle for normal and breeze through the campaign. until symphony of frost and flame. that mission was horrifying on normal. Now I'm playing the campaign on hard because I no longer suck as much at RTS games and I'm fully expecting that mission to break me.
To explain the difficulty spike from The Frozen Throne compared to Reign of Chaos I'm going to use a Dunkey quote "The game goes from tough but fair to tough but f*** you" Well, at least it isn't as bad as Starcraft I [pain
The AI : *"Hey the player doesn't have base. We won!"* GGG : *"There is another!"* Amazing how Reforged actually has something fixed for once xD Illidan : *"You think you can just channel the obelisk in front of me and walk away?"* Arthas : *_"Yeah"_* **teleports away*
Loving the Deathless. This is the most impressive one yet. What weirded me out was that the banshee could not be used. Taking possession does not count as a lose for me. If anything, it is an exchange in technical terms.
While you do make a understanding statement, the description of the ability says other wise. "She then displaces the soul of the enemy, giving you permanent control of it, but destroying the caster's body. " I dont know about you but "Destroying the casters body" does not sound deathless to me lol.
I kept commenting on videos before that, that I couldn't wait for King Arthas and there it is. Not only you announce you're not going to use Possess but you also blitzed it and made it look easy this is incredible Grant good job.
The bit at 19 about how Reforged fixes it, that actually makes it much much easier for a non-deathless run since you can just dab on illidans forces with a well setup Anub+ghoul rush>necro>frost progress.
what about the rpg orc campain it might be a free win but there are some moments where you are supposed to use units and you also have a lot of summons in this
Yeah, I was hoping he'd mention the Rexxar campaign. That last bit where you're assaulting Theramore would be challenging due to the saving allies rule.
I have been looking forward to this since you posted the first human deathless campaign. That final mission still gives me nightmares just from my casual playthrough as a kid
Won't work. Units are dying only when leader dies, those games don't care about separate soldiers. So there would be no way to track who died. Unless you fully abandon using infantry... which might work in case of CnC. For DoW, DoWII campaign might work too. CoH is too infantry focused so it won't work.
I went through hell doing the last mission legit when I was a kid, and here you are, speed running it. lol Another great entry to a fantastic series. Bravo.
I remember this campaign. It was the coolest in my opinion but the largest spike in difficulty I had ever encountered in my old Blizzard RTS experience. I am in awe at these runs.
Does Reforge still have the shade abuse trick? That's where when Illidan is channeling, you can box him in with Shades and tell them to hold ground; they won't move, and Illidan can't force them out of his way. Since the Naga's once weakness is they don't have detection, you can literally hold Illidan in place with about 6-8 Shades, and do what you need to do and not worry about him.
This has been one of the most amazing playthroughs on youtube of any game, so many clever tactics and incredible feats to barely scrape by. Thank you so much for making these Grant
All this Warcraft nostalgia reminded me of that other RTS I loved to play as a kid. Ever heard of Universe At War? Fun times. I'd honestly love to see you play that one.
Well done! I don’t usually comment on YT but you have done a sensational job! Really enjoyed watching all your war 3 deathless videos and thank you for bringing all my nostalgic memories ❤️
Honestly, the fact that you managed to actually do all the campaigns deathless on hard is impressive as hell. You have my respect sir (the gameplay plus the editing must have taken a whole lot of time). I know that you said on Discord that you're not planning to do this challenge on custom campaigns (cus the RU-vid overlords would mess with you), but I'd still love to see you try them on Twitch at least, along with some other possible challenges like only footman/ghoul/grunt/archer or Twitch Trolls on Warcraft 3. Either way, I'll stick around to see the new fun stuff you'll come up with (liked your Starcraft stuff too, even though I don't play that game). Would be nice if you'd make community posts about them, so we'll all get to see ^_^
9:44 this reminds me of what happens in dawn of war, the sisters of battle stronghold specifically In the mission, the enemy periodically sends crusades, giant armies, to destroy your base But only your starting base, if you make a new one anywhere else, they‘ll just stand there once they destroy all your buildings, and if you don‘t kill all the units from the crusade a new one will never spawn( i have no idea if the new one would find your new base or not as i just left them to vibe in the corner)
Omg, i just finished all other videos in series in a random order, thinking that they was done years ago. And BAM! 16 minutes ago we got this gem. Thank you good sir!
Btw, they patched a lot of things about a year ago and increased difficulty on hard (except for the Maiev campaign where they added a ridiculously op unit). Also apparently they kinda sorta fixed the Forgotten One and he now uses Flamestrike, Cripple and Firebolt. The only thing still missing about it is that I recall it used to have charm.
I've spent hours trying to beat the last mission on hard, both in the original and reforged. It's one thing being stuck as a kid, but another when you have 20 years of experience. And then you see this, where a deathless run is faster than a normal run. Bravo!
Wc3 was always cheesable, if people want to break the game thats up to them, still a sick mission if u play it normally, blizzard should make cool missions when played normally, not fix peoples exploits in a single player campaign
I hate how you were banned from possession. Its not hypnosis at the cost of a life, its literally a banshee going INTO an enemy and taking control of their body. The banshee is still there (and probably experiencing gender dysphoria now depending on the unit).
New idea: beat games without a mousepad. You can only move your mouse with your fingers or hands. Also thank you so much for playing Warcraft 3, bringing it some life after Blizzard fluffed up. When I was young I would play warcraft 3 a lot and I really liked it, one of the best games I played. So you trying these challenges I never honestly thought of is just so nostalgic and refreshing, it's really cool :D
Back when StarCraft II first came out, there were reports of it 'melting' (I'm not sure to what extent the word was used figuratively) GPUs that were ultimately traced to an uncapped FPS allowing the units to overexert themselves. Depending on how much truth there was to such claims, and how much liability or bad press Blizzard ultimately faced, adding an FPS slider might've seemed like a reasonable precaution.
Wow you mad man you actually did it, I swore to myself that it wouldnt be possible but you actually did it. Granted, Reforged threw you a bone and you had to break the game through a glitch basically for the last mission, but still, truly insane.
