Hello Everybody,
It’s time to check up on the swatches that have been in the window since the end of March. It’s been three months, we’ve had plenty of sunshine so I had high hopes for some change. And I was not disappointed.
I’ve put them back in the window after filming this one. I’ll have another look at the end of September to see if there’s been any other changes.

Yes, I'm glad there's no sign of fading from the PG8. I hope there won't be any in three months time. It's one of my favourite greens. Thank you!

Sunset Orange is given a 1 the highest lightfast rating...I was really surprised it faded so much.

You know, I was convinced it had a medium rating. But you're right, it has the highest lightfast rating on the tube - thanks for pointing it out. I don't know, maybe they didn't test it in direct sunlight?

@@sonyaoart I just ordered an orange, and I almost bought Sunset Orange but then switched to Brilliant Orange also with a 1 rating. Maybe I should hang Brilliant Orange in the window and see what happens.

@@lark6676 Brilliant Orange should be fine, it’s benzimidazolone orange which has a very good lightfast rating. But conducting your own tests is fun, I think.

Seems like cochineal is an unnecessary color? I wouldn't buy it because tiny sentient beings give their lives for it, I've never understood the appeal. Sorry to be negative, you know I appreciate you!

oh it's totally unnecessary, but I can't resist rare and/or historic pigments. It's not cheap, it fades faster than you can say fugitive, I'd not recommend it to anyone. I love the colour though and I'll keep painting with it, though. Thanks for watching!
