Love Daryl’s outlook on life, his perspectives and just how he goes about things. Really kind guy who really did an amazing job with his place. I recall what his place looked like when he first got there, what great progress!
Love this guy and his outlook on life! He's doing what many expat hopefuls hope to do. Definitely sub to his channel! And as always Mike, thanks for bringing great content to the Expat world!
Good to see an expat using his head and not over spending in the Philippines. I'm in Quezon city until October 5 and I would love to meet Darrell and learn the in and outs of his lifestyle here in the Philippines
I’m 58 years old right now I’ll be damn near 60 by the time I get over there and get settled in. I would do this in a heartbeat if I could get a lease on however long I want to stay. My dad is 90 if I live to be 90 I’d wanna stay in the place that I remodel for 30 years. Or more. I’m wondering if it would be possible to find a place that you could remodel and stay in indefinitely. I’m not a big mover. I like to stay put I bought my first house and I’m still in it 34 years later. Great video Darall is a cool guy, a true visionary and developing a property and I like his taste and decorating . And I also like how he is talking about having pig roast and lots of people over. I love doing stuff like that! As far as giving end of it putting up the shelter for the Local tricycle drivers. That shows that he has a big heart. I would also like to do things like that I don’t need the add a boys neither. It would just make me feel good that I’ve done something nice for someone. I’m not looking to flex. Just looking to help people out. To improve the community in a small way.
JEEZ DUDE, SEE THE LIGHT. BUY SOME LAND WITH A GOOD WOMAN AND LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE. THIS GUY IS NOT TELLING THE WHOLE STORY. DO YOU SEE ANYONE HANGING AROUND? IN THE PHILIPPINES THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE HANGING AROUND IF THE DOOR IS OPEN. THERE IS SOMETHING HE IS NOT TELLING US AND HIS EXPENSES ARE WAY OFF. LISTEN CLOSLY TOWARDS THE END. ALL HE GETS IS AN AIR CON AND SOME CABINETS WHEN HE LEAVES, WHAT A JOKE
Exactly bro! Being a blessing to others is truly an amazing experience. All the people in Porac love Darrell. And he made a dream come true to every children here when he played Santa Claus in our School in Porac. Please watch the video and youll be amazed! Hope to see u soon brother! and be part of experiencing.and giving smiles to Filipinos. Proud of Foreigners like Him! instead of spending money to walking street and bar girls lol 😂😂 just joking...Happiness is when people around you are inspired of you!
There definitely are deals to be had here but it requires a lot of searching and a certain amount of luck. My friend is building a house in not far from Cloud Nice. He leased the land for 25 years. The house is costing 5k USD to build. I will video that when I get there probably next month. He's very happy there. He's from Malibu California, so he understands the finer things in life.
Yes, Steve @ The Philippine Info Channel also has a great price on a lease near Angeles City. There are definitely deals to be had in the Philippines. Just depends on how you choose to retire or live in the Philippines. Great video, Janet and Mike...Jim
Daryl steps outside the box and created a pretty nice life being creative with his hard earned retirement. He created a nice niche and enjoys his life - my guess he is endering himself to new freinds every day even though he has that mean biker look :-o Your videos are very interesting and thought provoking too. Thanks Mike and Daryl
Wow, you really whittled down the total content! 🤣😂 You should have enough for a part 2? 🤔😉 Darrell will be back soon, and I'm hoping to get to spend some time together with him. He has many projects and ideas, and I'm always looking for something to do.... Good content, Mike 👍
Great work on the concrete aspect. I'm doing concrete work here in the states. I'm actually becoming a master of the craft, so I can relate. The most impressive thing about the video is, the room that you have.
I own my own house on my ladies land in Cebu , pay no rent , have 3 lights, use fans only and cook with fire , grow our own fruit and vegetables and have a piggery, life is pretty good 👍
He went that route once, Who has the house now? His ex. Never count on a forever when u do not own the land because you can't own the land. I hope you don't get throw under the bus. Even a lease won't help you if things get really bad. Good luck.
@locker1325 you can own a house but not land as we are aware, the house cost me 15000php , electricity installation 11500php , needs work at that price but it's liveable, my girlfriend owns the land it sits on , 200 square metres, nothing is garranteed in life , including life so as long as we are together life is good .
thx Mike and Jasnet ! I really relate to what he is doing,,this is what i would like to do,,especially the gardening and remodleing,,little by little ,,just like im doing here in Alaska,, i would like to meet Darryl, sometime,,i will be in philippines in 49 more days, thx again,
Hope the beach sand won't kill the trees. The salt in sand wipes most of trees & bushes here in CA. Mostly landscapers use decomposed granite to get a good look without the saline intrusion.
❤ I would love it !! I'm 60 year old lady that loves camping , my 2 cats , cooking ECT. But I love God and good people that accept each other for who they are . I've been thinking about moving there for 4 years but didn't think 🤔 I could afford it until now . Thank You 😅
THATS NATURAL ONE MUCH VITAMINE.,, THERE IS NO CRIME IN PHILIPPINES DON'T WORRY ONLY THING BE PRODUCTIVE THAT IS ONLY THING THEN YOU CAN FIND PROJECT ONEDAY..
@@locker1325 I cant, I had a beautiful cabin I built in the N GA mountains! and had a neighbor move in with I kid you not!!! 37 Roosters that I could count! he said he raised Roosters specifically! It was non-stop noise from 4am until 9pm, I was forced to sell, or go insane
I could do this single, but nope Im comfy with 2 farms A condo, and a typhoon proof castle. At ranch at home in usa have a Tiny house, My thing here is Comfort, Income yo big bath tub, Stand up Shower,,Im Here yo enjoy my Life and Wife, But single sure why not, God Bless
I had a nice little three-bedroom house right outside Angeles City 65 a month! I just another nice new little house over there for a hundred a month believe it's still open and ready to rent
Wow Mike , Darrell has some nice vision man. Darrel shouldn't have to go back to America to update his passport. I had a good friend that renewed his right in Manila if it hasn't changed
I lived in 2015 for 75$ a month but apart was super simple..I also lived in 2016 in a place near an amazing beach for 280$ a month with three bedrooms and two toilets and air con and that was so much better, actually very nice. I also know what it means to live in a 1000 pesos style house.i lived there for free for a few weeks. Life lesson you won't forget. It's pure misery. That apart that he shows now it would cost at least 15-20 k pesos or much more depending where he is located in 2024. Philippines is not that cheap anymore
I would be afraid of getting booted just as i finished up all of the new upgrades. You said if you get booted before the 4 years is up its ok because you saved alot but curious where would the savings be if you are putting money and sweat equity into it? Good ideas and hope it all works out well
@@ricksivley7047 this is not the only Expat doing this kind of thing I’ve seen it in several videos now. I believe they just try to get a long lease and spread the cost out and have a better place to live.
I've hired out the work / labor so it's easy to put a dollar figure on it. The saving is the difference between what I pay and the Market rent if I reentered it at the market rent once fixed up. I will leave when the owner returns from America. Estimate 3 to 5 years before they return.
Wow what's a life... big lot is like a compound with concrete fence for 36 USD. Are you kidding me... I'm jealous man. I'm paying 2600 USD for bungalow style house..
If he is really only paying 2k pesos a month which may be true or not. I can guarantee the landlord won’t renew it at 2k pesos since he’s made some improvements. My fiancé was paying 5k in Puerto Galera for a small place. To give you a price I paid 130-140k pesos for kitchen cabinets used around 400 board feet of red narra. I really don’t believe him.
Im the one who made Darrell' s contract with the house and the Landlord is a friend of my sister. He can extend his rent up to 5 years or more..thats the deal in the contract...It all depends how much you put in the house house. And thats a great deal! All the videos of Darrell are absolutely 100 percent true! and i can justify and prove that brother!
Great video from both expats!!! But I think the title and rent (36$ month) is extremely misleading. Darrel is spending thousands of dollars upgrading this house and perhaps might not even be able to recover his investment at all. He might not be able to take some of the furnishings/cabinets with him. I hope it all goes well. Cheers!!!! .. Note : He does not own this property.... Great concept by Darrel regarding negotiations, best deals/contracts are when both parties feel they’ve got a fair/winning deal. ..
what a waist of money hes planning to spend all that money on someone else house dosnt have the money lol he one of the guys milking disability reminds me of my ex brother in law
Really dude. "Milking"? You should get therapy before showing your stupid in the comments section. You completely missed the point. You can spend 25k a month on someone else's property with all the amenities or put the amenities in yourself and pay about $80 USD. He is actually saving money you dope.
@mikesphilippineretirement The guy saying he's milking it on disability must be mistaken. Can't collect disability check over here. Only in US. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The retirement visa bank account thing is unbelievable in lapu lapu they don't tell you thier branch does it in cebu and in cebu they want you to deal with a bank in Dumaguete... I suppose a chunk of the banking business goes to tek in California who probably come over alot and if you are not married going to Thailand to spend some money instead might be a good thing.... It's all good I suppose it is just misleading.
@@sting114 I think there is an interview that may reveal some of these things. The guy is not poor. He has SS and a pension and maybe more. He just lives frugally and travels.
NOT BAD, ALSO NOT SURE I REALLY BELIEVE EVERYTHING HE IS SAYING. THERE IS A LOT OF "THERE IS GONNA BE" THIS OR THAT. BY THE TIME HE FINISHES, HIS LEASE WILL BE UP. IN THE END HE WILL HAVE NOTHING AND BE STARTING OVER AGAIN IN A COUPLE YEARS. IT SEEMS THAT IT WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE TO INVEST IN A PLACE THAT YOU OWN. BESIDES THE FACT THAT ONCE THE OWNER GETS A LOOK AT THE IMPROVEMENTS HE MAY BE OUSTED FROM THE PROPERTY AND IT WILL EITHER BE LIVED IN BY A RELATIVE OF THE OWNER OR RENTED OUT FOR MORE. SEEMS GOOD ON THE SURFACE BUT THINGS RUN DIFFERENTLY HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES. YES THINGS ARE CHEAP HERE BUT THERE ARE OTHER COSTS. BETTER TO FIND A LOVING, TRUSTWORTHY WOMAN AND SETTLE DOWN SOMEWHERE INSTEAD OF INVESTING IN SOMEONE ELSES PROPERTY. HAHA THE WAY MIKE IS LOOKING AT HIM AS HE SPINS HIS TALES. COME ON DUDE, WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS SO RIDICULOUS. THIS GUY IS JUST TRYING TO GET VIEWS, NO WAY, EVEN IN THE PHILIPPINES CAN HE DO ALL THAT STUFF FOR THE PRICES HE IS QUOTING, NO WAY. LABOR ALONE IS A MINIMUM OF 10$ A DAY PER PERSON. AND BOY DOES HE HAVE PLANS! I REALLY HOPE NO ONE IS FALLING FOR HIS SCAM. I THINK HE JUST WANTS ATTENTION.
With due respect Sir Im Darrell friend and i made the lease contract and legal documents on that house.Actually the owner is my sister's friend. You can ask me personally if you want.
What do you have when you rent a place for $500 (US) a month? Nada. Foreigners CANNOT OWN PROPERTY IN THE PHILIPPINES!! You cannot buy a place and fix it up. Isn't it better to pay $70 (US) on average, with the cost of the improvements you make than to pay $500 (US) a month on your planet? It's better here on Earth.
Scam??? Im the one who hired the laborers and plumber electrician etc. And his not sensationalizing or even fabricating anything just to get more views! if you want i can send all the receipts and documents in the construction renovating of the house sir...Because im his consultant and the one making all his legal documents / papers.. Hope i answered u in full . if you need my help i can help you for free brother! Godbless
