@@madelinedelp. from now on , knowing that I am allowed to ask for help with going to the bathroom while in the air I’m definitely going to ask. Cause it’s like after every flight I have to WHEEL LIKE CRAZY JUST TO GET TO A BATHROOM
As an able-bodied person: I'm always afraid to ask to help like that, I don't ever want to seem like I'm calling a wheelchair user incapable. Knowing you actually appreciate the help, I'll be more likely to offer help in the future!
You know, I actually hadn’t thought of this til you just now brought it up! Can’t believe I hadn’t ever thought of this, so thanks for showing us! I have to believe any flight attendants from any airline would have done the same. They’re so undervalued.
I’m really glad I could show you something new Stephen! The crazy thing is, a lot of wheelchair users have no idea this is available and have to go with more unpleasant options… so hopefully I can shed some light :)
Not all airlines keep an aisle chair on board -- some keep it in the airport and bring it on when needed to transfer a customer who needs it. Imagine what happens in an emergency?
my mom is a SW flight attendant and part of their training is being able to help passengers in life threatening situations, including being able to safely lift people! theres lots of things that they need to be able to do that most people never even consider, like CPR!
That's what I was thinking!.."She definitely used to be a CNA or RN" She lifted exactly how we're taught! Or possibly a great home care giver. Either way she is such a sweetheart!❤
Southwest is awesome with disability issues. I flew with my smaller service dog like 10 years ago from nyc to az and back a lot. They were great always! On a side note I just posted on another wheelchair users video that southwest did this and this video got recommended; how funny. (She was saying all airplanes are totally not accessible and she can’t drink before any flights).
Just know that not all airlines keep an aisle chair on board -- some keep them in the terminal and only bring it on the plane to move the customer on or off. You need to confirm they keep it on board.
I just had to hold it and pray I didn’t have to go. You are lucky. I was told they couldn’t help me. This was many years ago and there is no way anybody way lifting me. It was a very long miserable flight. I have not flown since. If I can’t get there driving then I don’t go.
I was going to say things must have changed in the decade or so since I traveled. They told me too bad, there's no inflight chair. Thank goodness I wear pee underwear just in case.
My very first and only flight was on Southwest, I do not have disabilities but I will forever fly with them as they are absolutely hilarious and very helpful! GO SOUTHWEST❤️💛💙
I have heard what a nightmare it is for wheelchair users who have to depend on people untrained in how to carefully move folks. Some of those without arm functions are wholly dependent on people who jostle and sometimes drop them, or damage their expensive custom chair. Glad u had a great experience on Southwest.
Oh yes, I have quite a few horror stories myself… but I have a whole new level of empathy for people who can’t transfer themselves 😢 there is so much reform that needs to happen on the design of airplanes!
It is honestly crazy that they haven’t redesigned the size of bathrooms on planes to accommodate people of all abilities and sizes… I’m so sorry that the system doesn’t better accommodate you 😢
Thanks for sharing this. As a wheelchair user one thing I have been afraid of with flying is how do I get to the bathroom. I have digestive issues so this is a big concern for me. Thanks for clearing things up
I’m so glad that this could be helpful! If you fly with another airline, maybe you could ask if they could seat you in first class so that you have a quicker path to the bathroom because of your digestive issues 😊
Positive attitude creates positive experiences. ✨️ Happy you get to travel. Enjoy your time. While allowing only the supportive people's comments to enter your attention. 😊 🎉🎉🎉
This is so interesting. I did not know this, I can’t believe that I have not really thought about this! Thank you for telling us, got to give a round of applause to the girl power! I hope you enjoyed your flight.
I never realized the difficulties until my wife lost the use of her legs. The "Not a Wheelchair" electric off road Wheelchair really helps getting around our property.
The Southwest people are always friendly to everyone.I'm bored but some passengers could be rude to them. This is why southwest is the best flight you can go on
I find that there are a ton of these RU-vid shorts that loop back to the beginning and cut off in the middle of talking when they loop back. I think it's a trick to get the algorithm to register people watching the complete loop. In other words, I think RU-vid is more likely to put the short in the feeds of users if a lot of people are watching the whole short through to the loop point, and people probably scroll before the loop point when they sense the end is coming, so they get people to watch to the end by setting the loop point before the end so people don't see it coming.
My mum is in a wheelchair I feel so bad for people who are in a wheelchair because I can't go to alot of places with my mum but she would do anything for me because we have gone on a plane together and a boat she does everything that she can do x
Awww that’s sweet I’d say big ups to them 😊 I could never tho (I’m in a wheelchair) I have fear of other people touching me 😅 but loved this video nonetheless
@@madelinedelp. somewhat not as much as I’d like sadly I always allow people and their families to let me know what they need me to help with and then we go from there! ^^
:) As nice as the flight attendant may be, in our hospital's moving and handling lessons, that was not advisable to do as it puts the health care worker at risk for spinal injury, especially in the long run. Plane manufacturers really need to consider these kinds of risks for others and need to create a toilet space that can actually fit in an airline's mobility chair. Sadly, in reality they don't give a foxx and plane designs are mainly about the normal people and people with babies. (눈‸눈)
Oh wow! What level did he have if I may ask? I know from a mom’s perspective it must be its own challenge because it’s hard to see someone you love struggle 💜
Not only did that woman pick her up, but she used the "proper" technique. She must have have some kind of medical training. Idk if that's SOP for flight attendants or not but still, impressive.
May this video teach some people to always keep the toilets clean ..she unfortunately has to touch and sit on the toilet ..so be kind and clean up after yourselves .
