It came to a point I stopped blaming and binding Satan. My prayers were directed towards thanking God for what he hadn't done yet. I'm presently living my answered prayers with an influx of $125,000.00 every two months. God gave me victory over penury. Thank you Jesus

Short answer: No. No one, other than God himself, can bind Satan. This false binding and loosening comes from the 'loosening and binding' that's spoken of in Matthew 16:19 and 18:18. This is a widely misused portion of scripture, and in that the reader should note: 1. Satan is NEVER mentioned in this passage as the one who is being bound or loosed 2. The concept of “binding and loosing” is taught in the Bible in Matthew 16:19: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” In this verse, Jesus is speaking directly to the apostle Peter and indirectly to the other apostles. Jesus’ words meant that Peter would have the right to enter the kingdom himself, that he would have general authority symbolized by the possession of the keys, and that preaching the gospel would be the means of opening the kingdom of heaven to all believers and shutting it against unbelievers (Credit to 'Got Questions; Your Questions, Biblical Answers'). Jesus never 'bound' Satan but did rebuke Satan on a few occasions as noted. Nowhere in scripture are we commanded to bind the devil or even his demons. Humans, and even angels, do not have that power or authority. The concept of 'Binding Satan' was pretty much a power-grab by the Word of Faith movement in an attempt to grant a power to mankind that doesn't exist anywhere in scripture, not even at Pentecost where the 'Spiritual Gifts' were imparted to the apostles, and to make themselves appear more powerful than anyone else. After all, who can prove or disprove if someone actually did bind Satan? This is why sticking to scripture is extremely important! Stray just a little, and you're out in the weeds in no time!
To bind simply means to incapacitate. If you have no experience in spiritual battles, these are things you cannot understand. Jesus met the man with the legion of demons, whom the scriptures say no one could bind. But at the presence of Jesus, all those demons were incapacitated and could do nothing - and later cast out.
@majormayco thank you a thousand times for your response. Please, I live a victorious life in Christ Jesus and I will continue to bind and loose in the authority of Jesus Christ. When we get to heaven we can ask God instead of trying to preach falsely and telling people they are wrong to do so. I used to listen to his podcasts and from this post I have chosen to stop. This just shows me that we really need the Holy Spirit in this end times. Be careful who you give a listening ear to. Ask for discernment before using your platform to speak on things you have no insight on. Don’t cause the children of God to stumble. Be very careful!
Sounds Catholic to me. Peter was rebuked by the Apostle Paul for showing favouritism to the judaizers. And this was after Pentecost and the supposed giving of the keys. Kinda hard to believe that the first "pope" would be rebuked to his face.
Ok, this was a bad take on the understanding and application of bound. It's not about us binding him all over the world at one time forever. Even Jesus, when he was tempted by Satan, after He kept responding to satan with the Word, then told him to go, the Bible says satan went away for another opportune time. You have to also consider when it says, "he goes about seeking whom he CAN or MAY devour". He has to look for people who are vulnerable to his devouring, meaning he can't devour anyone at anytime. Satan has a set amount of time in earthwhere he can do things in the earth but even in Revelation it says, he's limited while believers are here in the earth. Now you didn't mention Luke 10:19 where Jesus Cleary gave the disciples authority over ALL the power of the enemy. In Christ, in submission to God, we have power over the enemy. Submit to God, then resist the devil and he WILL flee. We can rebuke the enemy in our lives on different days, but until he is completely bound, which yes will be done by Jesus, it's something we have to keep doing at different points. Jesus bound, casted, resisted, and satan kept attempting attacks. He cast the devil out of one person but it didn't mean a demon couldn't possess another person at another time. It's all temporary until Jesus comes. Lastly, we are in agreement that only Jesus has the power. Of course we independent of the Spirit of God don't have power. But Paul in his prayer for the Ephesian church prayed they would get revelation of the power that we have in Christ, describing it this way: 19 and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength which He produced in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion [whether angelic or human], and [far above] every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and world but also in the one to come.
I believe you can rebuke the devil for the moment, and that doesn't mean he won't return. We give him the legal door when we sin every day, so he keeps messing with your life. Plus, when the devil flees, it's not your power it's the Holy Spirit in you that drives him out when you repent from your heart. We have no power in our own strength against the spiritual realm of darkness. it's our FAITH in Jesus Christ. The desiples failed to cast out a demon. Jesus said How little faith you have." Fasting and prayer and belief in our savior is where the true power comes from.
The only way we beat the devil is by resisting the offers of the devil. The devil is always going to try to temp you. You have to say no and not give in to him.
The tenses of the words are so important. Thanks for teaching that to us and then proving that the devil is still obviously not bound at all , no matter how many people yell into the air.
Jesus said in Matthew 18:18 that, “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." What are we to bind and loose on earth?

You can’t bind satan for others, you do it for yourself, and it’s not binding in a literal sense, you bind him by having your mind renewed with the word so that he has no operation over you. Like what Jesus says in John 14:30 the prince of this world comes and has nothing in me. The devil had no power over him, he tried to get in like he did with Adam and tempted Jesus but Jesus resisted with the word. So the devil left him because there was nothing else he could do. James says in chapter 4:7 to submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. And John says in 1 John 5:18 that he who’s begotten of God keeps himself and that wicked one touches him not. And Paul says in Ephesians 4:27 neither give place to the devil. So thats how you bind Satan from having dominion in you and your life by resisting him, and not giving in to sin, which is how he gets in peoples lives. So we are told in Ephesians 6:11 to put on the armor of God so we can stand against the wiles of the devil and in verse 16 that with the shield of faith we can quench all his fiery darts. So that’s the right way of looking at that regarding binding Satan, not in a literal sense. It’s binding in that you’re covered and protected through the word and so he has no way in to dwell in you and cause you to live in sin. We see what happens to those who do let him in and how lives get destroyed because of it. So guard your mind, be steadfast in the word, and give him him no place.

How do we skip right past Mark 9:38 ???, when it says “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” We have someone who was not in the gang of 12 casting out demons right?? What about Matthew 17: 19-21? "Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” Please note what Jesus told them "this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” it's clear per Mark 9:38 the power to rebuke demons is just not for the 12 disciples right? and to rebuke some demons require prayer and fasting
Read that again...by praying and fasting,that one will be God doing that.. That demon will go by praying and fasting to God not by rebuking or authority that uvbeen given,its Jesus authority like he said all powers is given unto him.

If we define rebuke you find that it is an expression of disapproval, reproof, or correction. Now when we are praying and fasting we expect a change as we are not okay with the situation and want to change it. If we want a change that means we do not approve of what is going on. Therefore, we are rebuking the spirit that is causing the issue as we pray. You are right to say all power is given to Jesus but as the scripture reference in this video states he has given us the keys to the kingdom. Also, check out Ephesians 3:20 it clearly states that the power that God has to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think works in US. We cannot change the word of God to fit our narrative His word is true.

For those of us who are accustomed to approaching prayer in this particular manner, how then should we pray in the proper way? How do we come against Satan and his kingdom of darkness? From Luke 11:1. Disciples had a similar question to Jesus and he showed them a template of how to pray. Starting with Praises,confession,Petition & Thanksgiving…All these principles are biblical based… God is the one who delivers & saves.. We simply ask him too! My brother when Jesus gave authority to the disciples in Luke 9:1 over devils and to heal. In Luke 10:17 they came back rejoicing that these devils were subject unto them. I used it in my life when I encountered spiritual attacks. I did just what my savior Jesus said to do and it worked. Just follow the word. Thank you Jesus.
They may use that scripture out of context but i believe their intention is based in Luke 10:17-19 and John 14:12.... i could be wrong, but, it seems that you have seen so much of the corruption and false miracles of pentecostals and charismatics that you have turned away from the possibility that we do have power from the holy spirit to do these miracles and operate in the gifts of the spirit. Youre more comfortable with the "non-power" gifts (wisdom, knwoeldge, teaching, serving, giving, etc). However, i want to encourage you that God is still healing the sick and casting out demons (I know this from personal experience). The Text in Context !!! I’m not a debater of the Word of God(written or spoken). Check out John 14:8-14 I agree that Satan won’t be bound until the end. However JESUS did cast out demonic spirits, healed the sick and raised the dead.
Jesus cast out demons, He didn't bind them. There's a difference. Think about the temptation of Jesus by Satan (Luke 4:1-13). Jesus overcame by speaking the written Word of God to Satan but verse 13 says this..."When the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him until an opportune time." So we must ask ourselves why Jesus didn't "bind" Satan at that time? He certainly had the power to do so! Why would Jesus allow Satan to have another opportunity? Just questions for consideration...God bless!
With the temptation innthe wilderness, Jesus did not bind satan...He resisted him and he fled...which is exactly what we are told to do..."Resist the devil and he will flee"...this I bind satan never sat well with me...God is the only one who has authority to so that.

I am a Christian, 66 yr old female, live near SA,TX... have been to Hagee's church several times in the past. I do believe he's a God fearing man, but even he can get it wrong. The binding and loosing is talking about forgiveness. Matt 1815-18 gives you the full understanding. What you do here on earth and how you act will have consequences for us in heaven.
Context, context, context. Unfortunately, too many read the one or two verses that proof text their point, pastors do this too. Like you said, they should at LEAST read a few verses ahead and after to get the full context, if not the whole chapter or chapter break. I totally agree with you.

Also folks pray to cancel the plans of the enemy. I know God's word does not say anything on that unless I'm wrong. We cannot cancel plans of the enemy, since God is Sovereign and causes rain to fall on the just and unjust. And I'm sure if that were a possibility, Job probably would have done it right?

Corey, i got tickled when you asked (paraphrasing) "how come, every week, we gotta keep binding the devil? Who lets him loose?" I am slowly unlearning the practices, I've been indoctrinated, at my church. It's difficult when my wife completely adheres to the teachings of our church and will not listen to Scriptures you reference.
The devil certainly can be rebuked and he does flee. Jesus rebuked the devil several times when he called them out of different people in the scriptures. Are you saying not even Jesus could do it either???
Jesus can because he is God. But we are not God that's why we are to draw closer to Him. Let Him do the rebuking for us. We are to focus on Jesus. We definitely cannot bind the devil because God has a purpose for him. It's not his time to be bound yet until the time in revelation comes.
It's always an irony that Satan has duped those who actually serve him, the false teachers (2 Cor. 12:13-14) to think that they can actually bind him! Complete madness.

You have to use the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17. Jesus opened his mouth when he cast out devils or rebuked. He didn’t just look with his eyes and move his head , but he spoke. He is our example to follow. We also need to be living in obedience to his word

However, in this case I would like you to consider that “will have been” is “future perfect tense”, and it is used to “specify some future event that will be happening at a certain point in time”. Please seek the Holy Sprit again for clarity on binding and loosening. May the Holy Spirit continue to lead us in all spiritual truth.
I always thought this was silly, i would hear this in countless prayers of binding this binding that in jesus name.. or people blaming everything on satan.. 😑 hard to find good solid church lead by the Holy Spirit.. but they are out there..
This issue is one that the current church has been lied to over and over. I've asked for those that say they can bind or rebuke Satan to give me at least one verse and they can't- but the keep insisting. I've asked them also why he keeps getting loose but then they stop talking.
So how do you know its not doing anything?? What about when the disciples came back from obeying Jesus when he sent them in twos. The disciple rejoiced stating " Lord even the demons are subject to us through thy name." But look Jesus said rejoice not that the demons are subject to you but rejoice that your names are written heaven. I'd rather listen to my Bible.. You just expressing alot of doubt with all your followers. And be reasonable no you can't bind every demon in town.. .Some thing clearly happened when the disciples obeyd Christ and they power over satan. Why give someone keys if Jesus already opened the door. If the door was open why not simply say walk through the door that was open? Obviously you give some one a Key to use the key to open a door that is closed. Matthew 18:18 Jesus repeats it again and says… "Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” SATAN is a title and means Adversary, One who Opposes… If satan where just one, then how could he call Peter Satan? But when Peter was apposing Him, He gave him the title when Peter was in the act off opposition. When Peter was not in active opposition to Jesus, He was Peter however, when He was He called his name as such. We wrestle with Principalities and powers and when they are in the way, we have been given keys to rebuke our adversary. I don’t know about you but I know for sure that it has worked and continues to work with each and every satan (adversary) that comes to oppose me. To bind - means totie, fasten, imprison, or prohibit. When the demons begged Jesus not to cast them into the Abyss, we understand according to scripture that the Abyss was a place of confinement and imprisonment. So this means that the act of Jesus telling the believers to bind or to cast out devils means that they were given kets to imprison the Satans or adversaries from their operations to block believers from obeying God’s instructions. In Heaven they have already been bound…. and can not hinder the operations of the children in heaven. But they hinder the operations of the believers here unless you use your keys to do so. he has given the believers Authority to pray His Kingdom will here on earth… what’s blocking His will? The adversaries (satans) of God’s purpose. This is our (the believer’s) Mandate and are signs of true believers vs. those who say they believe but are following a false Gospel. Believers don’t look for signs because we are the signs.

His version of church isn’t a New Testament church of power that we see being established in the book of acts but one of bitterness, critical hearts, cold formality and no faith in the power of God moving among believers today. The late Dallas Willard is another wonderful man of God to look into on his teachings about the love of God. My local favorite is a pastor Named Bryan Clark who wrote a book (Gods not like that) you would do well to read.

@hayeschrist1 when we as believers say bind the devil it doesn't necessarily men the devil himself. We are simply stating binding his kingdom or devices from coming against us! I highly doubt too many people that have lived has actually faced Satan the way christ did, but his cohorts (demons) we do daily! Either way we all have to agree the devil and his minions are real! My question is this, what power do you think we have or what Authority do you think we have in Christ? The Israelites praised God or called on Him according to which aspect they needed Him. If they needed healing they would call on Him as Yahweh Rapha. If they needed help in battle, Yahweh Tsavaoth etc. I was taught about binding and loosing( btw Jesus said it not Paul for that one pastor's information!) And there was always the ' backlash issue. I realised that , as we call on the Lord according to our need, we are submitting to Him, submitting the problem to Him: and the battle is His! I have dealt with direct demonic activity( if you teach the gospel in a rural African village, it is part of the package). I have had to facilitate deliverance of oppressed people, but that is not the same as binding and loosing over everything!
Because the resurrection power granted to the church in Eph 1. Satans power is considered already defeated per scripture also. Jesus established the beachhead , but we still have to fight from victory
so this message is not for a common believe but rather a personal message you have to John Hagge and Sara Jakes Robets...so as a suggestions call there name out and tell them this...we need to know what to do if we can bind him...what do we do...if the answer is resist him ...how do we do that successfully..
There is nothing wrong with saying,for the Lord,to "bind up something evil,in the name of Jesus!" As Corey said, Jesus is able,but of course, we are not! We know what revelations says, smh. I believe most people who pray that are asking the Lord to do it or mean that! It's certainly nothing wrong in doing it if you believe differently, then you don't do it, problem solved 🙏🏿
I strongly disagree. I think this scripture is being looked at out of context. We are not binding Satan when we use this term. We are binding the works of Satan in which we most certainly have the power to do. Matthew 10;1, power over unclean spirits. John 14;12,13 talks about if we believe in Jesus Christ the works that did we shall do also and greater works shall we do. This is demonstrated in Acts 3;6,7 when Peter said to the afflicted man silver and gold have I none but such as I have give I thee. In the name of Jesus Christ rise, take up thy bed and walk. we never should deny the power that is given to us by the Holy Ghost.
Demons…. And people have surrendered to satans lies, which opens up a foothold and gives Satan permission to have his way with your mind. This is why Jesus warned. ““When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”” Matthew 12:43-45 NKJV In short we through sin allow him and his minions back in unless we repent
I always think about the archangel Michael's response to Satan. The Lord rebuke you. He respected his rank which should be food for thought for all Christians.
Rebuke all unclean demoniac spirit, but the power comes with the name of Jesus Christ and your faith in him alone, also being obedient to his commandments.
This whole "binding" thing, including all the texts found in the NT (e.g. 2 Peter 2:4, Jude 6, Rev 20:1-3) is just a tradition that goes back to Second Temple Period literature and the "Watcher Tradition" found in the Book of Enoch...A lot of the binding imagery can be found in the literature during that time (remember this is BEFORE the time of Jesus) A few examples are found in 1 Enoch 10:4-13, 1 Enoch 54:1-5, Jubilees 10:11 to name a few. Please, I implore everyone to read these for yourself. This is why scholars believe the NT writers used this imagery...they were influenced by the perpetual thought at the time that the "satan" and/or the devil and his "demons" can or will be bound. The difficult passages in 2 Peter and Jude become more clear once you understand that they were just following and interpreting a well known Jewish tradition in the 1st century. I'd say also research this whole "Watcher Tradition" in early Judaism and their literature and see just how much influence it has on our modern understanding of the concept of "fallen angels". This stuff doesn't come from the Bible (or at least not the Bible we all know and have in the western world), it comes from traditions found outside the Bible and interjected back into it with these interpretive lenses. Then over the millennia of this interpretation being taught, the interpretation becomes our modern day "truth". 🤔🤦🏾♂️
