I have no idea what Patcher is talking about with a Amazon Fire stick with two terabytes of storage being a replacement for a console. He first says it'd be for streaming, but if so then what's the need for the storage. Then he catches himself and then casually remarks that _"obviously you'd need a CPU and GPU to process the data"._ Well if I'm not mistaken, that's what we lay people call _(checks notes)_ a console, and we already have those. So why is it when Amazon makes a console it's revolutionary, but when Sony makes one it's _dead man walking?_ I think Patcher is so fixated on his idea that consoles are dead and Game Pass is the future, that he's warping all of reality to make that idea real.

When Pachter brought up Spotify it made me think of Google Stadia and if google dropped the ball with it. I don 't have Spotify because I have RU-vid premium which includes RU-vid music. I wonder if Google could have eventually created subscription bundles with some combination of Stadia, RU-vid premium, music and TV?

I do understand the point it is like a Movie vs TV. The one thing I will say that makes the argument fail is that gaming is an 'interactive' media. I don't want and add between levels... lets say from your example like Uncharted that can bring you out of the emotional high. That would break up the experience to a negative point and would sour the experience itself. However in some situations I could see it working, it would require new changes to how games are designed... like how loot boxes at times force games to become something they should not be. I can only see Add supported being really viable though the cloud where they can be switched out with more ease. I'm sure you remember this but the Xbox 360, a service you had to pay for had adds for things like Cars, Razor blades, Tampons, ect that would take up most of the dash board and oddly would load in faster then the content I wanted to play itself. For examples on how it could work, lets say I'm playing Halo 99 and at the end of the game I get an add for the new Halo Animated series.. or something to that effect.. or if you just got Final Fantasy (Put number here) and its more like a post credits thing to advertise another game you might like based on your Add-ID aka your gaming behavior. I'd be alright with that, though history has proven that most advertising are quite over intrusive.

They could have a free version of Game Pass with Ads, but then it's an optional payment $4.99 to remove Ads for one week. Or you can pay extra $12.99 a month for zero ads.

Why would you pay $40 to play something like Concord when there are multiple free to play shooters that are 10x better? Concord is what should have been cancelled instead of TLOU Factions. They already have an existing fan base for that franchise both from the the game and the TV show. Nobody cares about Concord but that's the game Sony bet on? It's incredibly stupid decision making.

TLOU Factions could also cause damage to the brand. It costs money to support a multiplayer game. To keep sales alive they would have to sell $5 skins for Joel and Ellie to wear funny hats and shirts. The game could backfire and make The Last of Us a joke.

Absolutely, it's still possible to make a pay2play shooter game. Even with the hero shooter genre being satured by now, a giant corporation like Sony could do something that players look and see the value in paying to have access to that. HellDiver 2 is a perfect example of that, even if it is a shooter and not a hero shooter. Concord however, isn't a game that should be charging anything, because the game is appealing to no one, and the extremely low number of players in the beta test was very telling. The studio making the game completely failed at creating something appealing to the audience of hero shooters. And just recently 2 hero shooters just had their beta tests, Marvel Rivals and Mecha Break, and both of those games had more active players than Concord, by a wide mark. Now these 2 competing titles are free2play, but if a studio under Sony does not make something that people think it's worth paying for, what are they doing? Blizzard is another example of a company that could creative a hero shooter that people were willing to pay for, as they did with Overwatch 1 and Overwatch 2...and then they completely burned any good will they had with their audience by cancelling the PvE mode they promised for Overwatch 2, as the primary point for buying into Overwatch 2. So it is possible still to sell a hero shooter, but to be honest, in the currency gaming market it's a much safer to work in some other genre less overwhelmed.

Well for Apache being a so call analyst, he should read the financial statements better. Spotify is NOT MAKING ANY MONEY!!! It’s loosing millions and billions…. As is M$. Again wise choice from Sony not do it but again… biased opinions are hard to counter…
