In today’s video I will be talking about whether you can charge a Nintendo Switch using a regular phone charger or not. If you broke the Switch dock or lost your Switch power cord then you might be wondering if you can use a normal phone charger or not.

TL;DR: You can charge your switch with a phone charger but you can't charge the dock with the phone charger because it isn't powerful enough.

There are no conditions except that the charging cable is USB-C only. There are no other conditions that if you do them, it will cause you to choose the console, right?

Any charger should be fine. However cheap crap chargers (like those from China) could have issues.

Sounds like a random type C charger would be a sufficient overall replacement for the Switch Lite.

Don't increase the voltage above the exact amount that's needed. Additional amps (ie. 2 or 3 amps) will not do any harm.

Actually, more amps can shorten the battery life, hence the disclaimer they made, just think about it, why wouldn't they already make a 3A or a 5A *for example* to charge it faster? why make a slow charger to begin with? there's always a reason mate.

The amp not necessary, but the votage must be 15V not less or more

Even if that is the case it's not regulated properly so it can very well overcharging damage your battery

Switch uses 5 volt, not 15 volt. 15 volt will fry your Switch. The 15 volt rating is for the dock, which passes through 5v to the Switch to charge and uses the rest to power the dock's components.

Its 5v/1.5 amps and 15v/2.6amps. So there are 2 power modes. You dont even know the official outputs. You keep saying 1.5amps only....

That's because he knows it can't be used for the dock. The original power brick only outputs 1.5 Amps at 5 volts when charging. It doesn't output 2.6 Amps at 15 Volts unless you dock it.

Haven’t had any issues with it happening yet and I’ve charged it plenty of times. Sure, the official Nintendo one is “better” if for no other reason than a faster charge but I wouldn’t be too worried about using other chargers as long as they aren’t putting out too much power
