Def OP. Agreed on a HARP sweep. But this games def bugged out n needs some tuning. Is anyone else having a prob with the game loading? I getting black screens every 2-3 games n having to reset. Hit detection seems to be off too...
Not only is the “wall hack” part OP but the blue perks people typically run to get the Recon combat specialist ability are good like Foward Intel, Ghost, and Ninja.
Was gonna say that, the blue perks are op at the moment because everyone is spamming UAV/CUAVs like mad, only the tier 3 blue perks are weak, but you can just use perk greed to use 2 of them
Unfortunately the cod devs for every game absolutely REFUSE to remove items or perks from the game even if the vast majority of players hate it (i.e. last stand and riot shields in MW2)
Even 1 pulse off spawn that isn’t counter-able as a blob instead of silhouette and then another pulse at 1 second that is countered by ghost but is also a silhouette.
Imo wallhacks should never be a feature in any FPS game. It was cheesy in xDefiant with the ultimate ability, its cheesy in this game. Giving players a wallhack even for a few seconds off spawn is just that, wall hacks, cheats. They should remove that portion of the perk bonus entirely and replace it with a mini map ping off spawn that detects enemies within a certain radius of you, countered by the ghost perk. And Cold Blooded should counter high alert like it has in every game high alert has been in. Wild how they are making these elementary mistakes still.
I think the snapshot grenade in previous CoDs were cool, in fact the only time I think I liked a wallhack: it was counterable, you knew when you were spotted, and you had to give up a tactical to use it. I also think real time pings is stupid and should not be a thing either.
I think it’s fine for an ultimate ability, just make it so that using ghost makes you not highlighted. Nobody had this big of a problem with this in black ops three.

Something Ace missed is you can switch to a recon class at ANY POINT during a round of snd and know where all the enemies on the map are. It completely breaks snd.
regarding the walls portion of recon: you can hold off on picking your class or switch your loadout for a decent period of time after spawning and you’ll get the wall hack. this is broken in search and destroy because you’ll be able to get intel such as 2 went B, 2 went mid, and 2 went A as opposed to just seeing them in spawn. I really hope to see this addressed and nerfed
I love the idea of adding a counter to Recon; I think the biggest issue is simply the fact that there's currently no direct counter to it (except for rage quitting lol) I do also think that buffing the activation speed of Enforcer (Quick Fix) and giving Strategist some kind of buff could also entice players to choose a different specialist. It's just too easy to pick Recon in its current state, ESPECIALLY on HC Faceoff where it's easily the most broken and where Strategist is almost completely useless
Needs to be removed entirely imo. Make Forward Intel the Recon ability and make High Alert a perk again. No amount of nerfing the wall hack would be enough for me
making the only recon bonus a forward intel would be extremely weak compared to red and green bonuses being quick fix with movement speed boost and infinite streak spam

I don't want it removed but the ability to counter it at the cost of another perk or a nerf of some sort. The only people it really effects is spawn killers and campers. Who annoys the hell out of most people. They don't play the objective and it often using what ever is meta. This lets you counter and kill such people which I'm all for.
I agree. Kind of. The only time it works against you is if you're spawn trapping. Which I'm all for. Hate spawn trappers. However it is very op at the moment. Especially with no counter to it. Id have done it so it only worked within a set distance. Or through one wall or floor etc
Yep I agree. Movement in cod now is way too fast for spawns to keep up with and I routinely have that one movement demon flanker on the other team constantly running around me and killing me from behind seconds after I spawn or catching me off guard cause I'm not expecting a gunfight 1 nanosecond after spawning in. This kind of thing wouldn't be a problem if you didn't spawn directly near an enemy, which rarely happened in old cods
Wouldn't it be more intuitive for them to fix the spawns and remove the wallhack altogether? Few people would use such a busted ability for something defensive when most people in MP's focus is kills.
@@theweekndxo7438 Honestly, this ability could be base kit in the game and I wouldn't care. It would force people to slow down instead of rushing across the map and flipping spawns constantly. It literally takes only one G-fuelled sweat to ruin the game for their entire team. Next time you're mad at the spawns pay attention to your team. There's always a guy going like 24-27 who never stops rushing, causing the spawns to constantly flip. Recon protects me from this. It's the only reason I almost never go negative in this game.
Another rework idea: what if it had a MINIMUM range? So, it would only wallhack starting 10m or 20m out or something like that, so you wouldn't realistically be able to get those immediate wallbangs. Even that I think would remove a major issue with it without changing anything else too severely. TBH with how fast paced and up-close the game is, I find the High Alert component fairly useless outside of super niche scenarios, so I do think it's fair to leave it with some solid strength on the wallhack. You are right that it has gone too far in its current state though.
If they're not gonna nerf it, I think the wallhack should be a scorestreak or a field upgrade like we had on BO3 & BO4 with the Vision Pulse specialist. Also on certain maps like Subsonic, this allows you to hit a wallbang headshot with snipers as soon as the match starts lol
They should disable all specialties in Faceoff... but I do agree its a problem in general. I think they need to lower the time or just make it a single flash scan instead of something that is dynamic.
Pretty much only use this while playing hardcore moshpit, it's very helpful to try and avoid an immediate death on spawn. I do think either making it a snapshot or cutting down the timer would make it a lot more fair
I’m an old COD guy. 54! I think this game has finally done me in. Between the movement and the hopping all over the place I just can’t keep up with all these kids. I feel like there’s $1 million on the line every time I play. There is zero fun for me. Ahhhh.. keep watching videos in hopes they slow shit down or come up with that old man game mode. lol .. I liked Invasion.. pretty chill and fun…
Im only 23 and im right there with you. My R.A. is catching up to me and I guess my hearing and vision aren't as good as they used to be. I just simply can't see or hear or react like everyone else. I just spawn and fall over. $70 to play respawn simulator. And I was so excited for the motion sensor feature they added but there's no point in using anything other than controller aim assist.
I get what you're saying, I feel the same when I'm watching my dad playing Dude just wants to chill out a little after a busy day of work and is not the same player as he used to be, he's 50 now I'm 20 and I absolutely love the game, it's 100% my style of movement and speed of gameplay, but I totally understand your point, it's super valid I wish they could improve lobbies for people who just want to have a fun and calm match
It's called Battlefield. I'm just here until next one comes out in 27, maybe. I have come back so many times but this one has made me say enough is enough. Every year the game is full of bugs and next year won't be any different but we all still buy it knowing what we will get.
Maybe it’s too much, but an interesting way to work the vision pulse would be to allow players to choose whether they use it within a second or two of spawning, but if they do use it, it gives away their own position on the map.
Hi Ace. Love the video as always and you make great points on this. As someone who uses this specialty I personally love it but I’ll admit it is ‘broken’; however, it is almost a crutch for when your team is being spawn trapped. I have never experienced a Call of Duty game with gameplay like this ie. every game is a massacre and one team being spawn trapped. Unfortunately I feel like my team is always the one being spawn trapped and it is impossible to get out or even get a kill without this initial wall hack. The recon specialty saves my k/d a bit for when I’m spawn trapped and can even help the team break out of it. Thank you Ace as always. Just felt like I needed to add this perspective to this take
a broken perk is not the answer for making bad maps though. If they made better maps and removed sbmm, you wouldnt be in that situation nearly as often, thus the perk would not be needed then.
When you don’t have it on the smaller maps you really feel it. You’re at a total disadvantage because with people respawning so fast, you’re constantly visible to someone. On the flip side I’ve got a lot of head shots just killing people hiding behind walls with it.
I didn't think about it too much which means I didn't find it too problematic, but I agree with your points on it completely, first I'd want them to adjust the spawns and then look at this perk bonus to see how much its impacting, right now we're all spawning on top of each other.
Sure, Blue perks are super strong right now, but this seems to make Ghost feel pretty weak as a perk. Even though you're not visible by UAVs and might be running a suppressor, you can see with Vigilance on that you're still spotted on the minimap something like half the time.
The three perks I use happen to be blue and I get this and I don't even like having the ability to see through walls. I find it distracting, personally. The high alert bit is just a neat bonus. I would actually prefer it if they removed the walling bit.
Also something I noticed when you enter a match, if you wait like 15 seconds to pick your loaout you basically get a wall hack right off the bat and know where people are
Absolutely astounding decision to put this in the game. The blue perks by themselves are already the best class of perks in the game there’s no need for an extra bonus to them. I would abuse the hell out of this if the game would let me play without packet burst and latency turning it into stop motion animation
The biggest issue with this game is Recon, and yes I run it. It single-handedly removes any flanking / aggressive play-style as well. Needs to be removed entirely in my opinion. With that being said, remove all special abilities. Special abilities, specialist characters, etc, they’ve been bad in every cod and continue to plague treyarch games . (Not talking about the specialist “perk,” that’s fine)
I think either make the recon shorter or just make it a snapshot, and/or make it counterable with a perk like you suggested and it'll be fine. I kinda doubt they'd do the brief HARP at spawn just because of Hardcore. Even if the effect was fully counterable you'd presumably still get brief access to the regular minimap every time you spawned, which would be quite useful in Hardcore. Now if they aren't going to add any counters to it then, yes, I think it would be an acceptable adjustment, but personally I'd like to see some counter options available.
Can you bring attention to the limited matchmaking shadow ban problem a lot of people are facing, I have been stuck in these lobbies since Saturday night and the game is completely unplayable, every lobby has super high ping and multiple cheaters which is completely unfair for legit players like myself, it has absolutely ruined my experience playing this first week and I probably won’t even be able to play nuketown this weekend and take advantage of the double xp
It's 100% needed considering the amount of times you can spawn and immediately have an enemy behind you because while you were spawning in, that one movement demon on the other team who's constantly flanking is already catching you off guard. It's so fucking annoying
The HARP idea is brilliant, wall hacks are unrealistic, spawning in with some map knowledge is reasonably realistic, and they need to implement this into the game. I think the reason they went red visual through the wall is they sort of copied XDefiant's wall hack ultimate, same reason why kill order is in the game. But I don't think COD needs to worry about XDefiant
Absolutely needs a counter or to be replaced entirely. Make it a killstreak if they like the effect so much, something like that Specialist from BO4's ult.
Even if they kept it as is, I think at the very minimum they should give you an indicator when you're highlighted for someone else so you know not to go sprinting around a corner
They could fully remove the wallhacks portion of recon and it'd still be viable. It is just way too overloaded in comparison to the other specialists. A single scout pulse (that is counterable by ghost) would be way more balanced but it'd still be the best specialist even after that imo.
I'm totally fine with ghost and cold blooded countering this, but it's a non issue imo. As you pointed out, this is mostly an issue on small maps, and getting wall hack killed occasionally is a much less serious concern on tiny maps than egregious nade and flash spam. If you want brief wall hacks on spawn over tacmask or flak jacket on a small map...I'm taking flak and mask myself.
I somewhat agree with you. I don't think 1 perk should counter 3. I think if you have all 3 of the stealth perks, then you can counter it. But yes. The base form of the Recon specialty should be nerfed anyways like you said. Either the snapshot or the Advanced UAV for 2 seconds.
Making blue perks the counter to recon would be an awful solution. It would just mean those running recon can't be seen and get the wall hacks so only those not running it are at a disadvantage
I say each specific perk combo that matches colour should give different effects with that, and maybe to lock this recon ability behind a few prestiges or something
To be fair, it wouldn't nerf Recon all that much if both of the perks you used to counter Recon are part of Recon. If anything, that might make it even more meta.
It just blows my mind how fps developers thinks it’s okay for any kind easy to obtain wall hacks to be in a game, my opinion the cod that got it right for a somewhat fast wallhack was the one specialist from bo3 who had the vision pulse ult, wasn’t too spammy and wasn’t to busted to be a problem
Honestly, i think its legit only a problem in stakeout (which is where the majority of your gameplay from it being broken is from). In other faceoff maps, its not nearly as good. I don't think its worth nerfing if its only a problem on a single map.
This perk specialty really just helps prevent getting spawn killed, which is a good thing. Otherwise they might as well bring back Painkiller. Take your pick
It’s even worse than that there’s just no counter. If you reselect your loadout without firing a bullet, you will get the wall hack again. This exploit basically makes SnD unplayable currently because you can take your opening route, reselect your loadout, and get a wall hack to see exactly where your enemies are mid round
I think this is a chance to have a rock paper scissors type of interaction. Not sure how they would implement it but i think that would have it where you have to think about which one to choose, and also make it to where you are just neutral against them if you don't run a set.
show one sweep that you can see a pulse of the enemies chest (or heart beat). it would be smaller so you would have to be paying attention and make more sense for a "perk". the closer the enemy, the brighter it would be. It could also be countered by ghost or ninja.
I don’t feel any significant issues with this Recon wall hack. It’s a very short duration and with fast Omni movement and the horrible unpredictable spawns, I barely get more than a kill or two from this wall hack and always on a very small map. Other bigger maps I wall hack enemies across the other side. I usually get quickly bombarded with enemies sliding at me for a tag team kill or an enemy spawns behind me right after the wall hack ends. I’d be willing to bet that the amount of kills and accuracy is not that high or frequent while utilizing Recon perk. It’s fine. There are much bigger issues with this game. The best option for a counter should only be Ghost and Cold blooded.
I suspect with the spawning pattern and the wall hack, they are trying to put a stop to spawn camping. The wall hack stops that but there would need to be another solution.
Very strong/broken perk should have a counter to it so people use it at their risks. Weak Perks shouldn't have any counter to it so at the end there is versatility in choosing different perks rather everyone just lining up the same goddamn perks for the complete cycle of the game
I like how the opening clip showed even with the wall hack perk, he was getting destroyed with the LMG equipped lol. They are SO SLOW in face off modes
Counter point. Make the wallhack permanent. There too much cover in this game and most engagement are under 10m. This would make viable to shoot people further away

Maybe on top of Cold Blooded, Recon could counter Recon as well? Idk it just popped into my head as an idea. Also, maybe instead of the wall hack, they can do something with the minimal - show a quick ping of enemy players? Idk, I think they should just try something else.
I agree it is broke that there's no counter to it. However to play devil's advocate in normal games it's only really effective against those who are spawn trapping/ camping which I'm all in favour of.
It’s been like 20 years and they still can’t figure out how to release a game without something broken. Change for the sake of change. I’m sure they’ll fix it in next years CoD.
It's completely busted in FFA gamemodes. There's literally no reason to run anything else. And in HCFFA, there's really no reason to run the other two specialty bonuses either. So everyone just has the free wallhack, all the time. With the "revenge" spawn being so heavily favored, this ultimately results in just going back and forth with the same person over and over again. Removal of the wallhack would be sufficient. Un-counterable high alert is already obnoxious enough.
I think if they just nerfed the RANGE of the wallhacks, it would be fine. As it stands, I don't really know if it's causing issues for me or not. Maybe I don't pay enough attention or something. Perhaps I don't care enough, but WAY too many people are saying it's a problem for it to NOT be a problem.
I don’t think recon specialty is not as strong as you’re saying. You have to lock yourself into using 3x blue perks for starters, and it’s only for 2 seconds, it was longer in the beta and that’s when it was a bit broken. What needs to be looked at are “crutch” things like the rapid fire attachment, if you’re not using that you’re actually putting yourself at a disadvantage.
Ace, Ace, Ace. I couldn't disagree with you more on Recon. It's only 2 seconds so it it pretty much is a counter for spawn campers only in main playlist 6v6. I don't think any analysis based on face off modes is valid b/c those are "chaos" modes for grinding camos.
While I normally agree with your videos it just makes the blue perks even more of a power house. To counter recon, you stack more blue perks as Ghost, Cold blooded just to counter the Recon.
I think they need a counter. Don't get me wrong, it would be better without it but the high alert side of things has made it so frustrating. Everyone has it so I no longer can take advantage of easy headshots. Someone not paying attention to their flank? Well, in this game they are because they can see that I'm aiming at them due to recon trying to line up a headshot.
This CoD is really starting to piss me off. My loadouts get reset all the time. When I pick a loadout in a match it'll give me some random persons loadout thats in my match. My settings get reset ever 5 or so games. And as someone with 2 decades of experience on PC MnK and also console controller, I cant believe im saying this, but the aim assist is way to strong. Its literally aim bot. I was so excited to finally be able to use motion sensor aim, but now there's ZERO point in using anything another than controller aim assist. People flick instantly to my head and kill me in one tenth of a second and can somehow hear me running from across the map. I watch my kill cams and im literally being tracked through walls and than get aim assist aim locked on and die in 1/10 second. The game almost plays itself on controller. Not to mention every map that came out has to be down there for worst CoD maps ever. The "head glitch" spots are ridiculous and I just fall over instantly eveytime i turn a corner and I never even see a single person. And the cherry on top is every single best play after the match the person just don't take damage or get shot at, at all. Its like I have 0.0125 seconds to react to every gun fight while everyone else has like .725 seconds.
