Does the DIRTY POUR Technique work in epoxy resin?
In this video I attempt to do a popular technique that is usually done with acrylic paint with epoxy resin. It's called a dirty pour and we actually get some impressive results.
At the beginning of the video I also unbox a Let's Resin epoxy resin kit that I truly believe is good value. If you're new to resin and need to build up basic supplies or just want to give resin crafting a go, this kit has pretty much everything you will need. P.S this video isn't sponsored, I actually won this kit last year when Let's Resin had a giveaway on their instagram page.

Better thing to do is... Pour a little bit of each color to the cup then always end with the color you start with

I adore these - so many came out pretty that I can't choose! ❤ I'd probably go with all of the the purply blue ones, as those are two of my favorite colors. 🥰 I've done the resin dirty pour method for pen blanks (I pour the resin blanks and my SO turns it on a lathe and puts it together with a pen kit), and it's a surprise every time! 😄 My very first one I thought would be a hot mess...I was using quick cure resin, and it *was* definitely quicker than I was used to! I also did about 5 or 6 colors, which was too many with that short a time frame. Plus, I didn't make up enough resin to fill the pen blank mold all the way. I thought it was just a first time failure, but my SO was able to take the cured blank and make it into a slimline pen, and I LOVE IT! I refuse to sell that one, as it was our first collaboration, and it came out so pretty. I have to remember to post it on Instagram... Anyhoo, I do like doing the technique, though not every dirty pour has turned out the way I'd hoped. What I've learned is to let the resin sit before pouring all the mixed colors into one cup for better color separation, to get bubbles popped/degassed before the resin gets too warm/thick, and to learn more about which mica powders are denser than others, so I can get my preferred color(s) where I want 'em. 😅

Its amazing how much there is to learn! I definitely want to experiment more with this technique. I want to do a pour where I let the resin sit a bit and then pour into the molds like youre saying. That last circular piece turned out really nice and that what I pretty much did lol 😊

It might work better with less colors and more layers in the mixed cup. Even if you really want four or five colors, doing more layers will help. Tiny bits of color 1 followed by tiny bits of color 2, etc until you get the amount you want. It makes for some nice patterns.

I simply LOVE these!! I’m not sure where the “moon surface “, comes from, but I think every single piece you poured turned out amazing!! I’ve already watched the video when you used the multi-opening cup. I think for such small pieces, this works better. An 💡 idea to try… possibly just put a small amount of each color, and then another layer, of those small amounts of each color, give it the little toothpick swirl, then away you go??? I’d love to see you try this.❤❤❤

What a great beginner kit! Lucky you! I've done a bit of acrylic pour painting and have found that the more layers you create in the cup the better. With these 4 colours it would have created a better effect if you had tried to do 2 rounds of each colour. The stir was a good idea to get a better spreading of colours.👍 I tried a faux stone effect in resin once and found that if you do the combining too quickly the colours blur into each other. Next time I'm going to be a bit more patient and let the resin sit a bit before combining - hopefully that will result in a more defined colour streak because of the thicker resin. Maybe give that a go.😊

I'll definitely try doing more round of resin next time to see the difference. I also bought this cup that is sectional to try too.
