Completed the short version of this today after exhausting myself completing the Mega Pretzel yesterday. Thanks to your videos I can approach these Academy efforts with the proper preparation and mindset. You are definitely my favorite Zwift Sherpa
I absolutely love that you're modelling how to put your ego aside and take care of your body so that you can recover and heal. Thank you for that good example! I am really enjoying your videos and advice! And please give Teddy treats from me. =)
Damn you clearly know your shit and consistently manage to distill it down to a lean and precise explanation. I'm not at a level of athleticism where I can take full advantage of it, but it sure makes me feel smarter! Thanks for the time you take to make this content.
Glad it's been helpful! These workouts are tough, but I hope that these videos help to convey that for those that are early yet in their training/development, "failure" is not only ok, it's expected! You can still take something away from it 😉
Did this workout yesterday and it was hard! First time I've seen swearing in a group workout chat LOL I made it up to the last 2 min effort and then cracked with maybe 1 min left to go (made the mistake of looking at the clock part way through the interval). The difference between the numbers in workout #1 and this one definitely wasn't the 5% you mentioned but it wasn't 50% either ... I picked numbers for the two efforts based on my fatigue, hit them, and I'm happy with that 😅 Also your advice for the nutrition was great! It's a very long (and hard) workout and empties the tank before the 30s and 2 min efforts. Thanks for the video and advice! Good luck with the rest of the workouts and I hope you feel better soon :)
You 'don't know why you are doing these?'.... it might not benefit YOU physiologically, but your explanations are probably helping a lot of us!!! Thank You!!👏👏
Awesome video!! I appreciate the effort you put in to making and analyzing these workouts. For someone like myself, who has no formal training, just understanding what each workout is trying to accomplish is helpful!!
I learnt my lesson from Workout 1, not to kill or exhaust myself in the 2 x 2min Max Power sessions at the end. I think I paced myself much better and also felt stronger by doing this. Thanx for the insights on the workout. 😎
Oh man. I definitely had my spine pulled out in the long variant. It definitely feels like they don't want people in the academy unless they mean business. It would be nice if they paired a workout with an assessment. So you get a test like this, and a workout to help you improve. Anyway i don't really know what to take from this. Did i do well? I certainly felt awful. 😂
I LOVE Your Videos......Part of me wants to see you step into the next level of competing in the real world and creating videos about it. It's a win/win and people love the story more than the results. Chapeau!!
I would love to do something like that. Work has definitely been a bit prohibitive in the past few years and competing has been on the backburner. Looking at some other opportunities right now... 2024 might present new options 😉
Great advice. Heal up fast and get to normal before pushing the tranning. Just had plans change this week for the next two months so doing ZA with CX season ongoing (staff work, photowork, and possible racing) is not go well. Had cancel other zwift race plans; unless parks cancel on us due to weather/high park damage risks with clay adobe mud. Went to base mode next after racing over the summer in chasing tour series and first ZRL round of the season. Alreday have the frame and at level 60 so unlocks not needed. My age is too old to quailfy plus other issues anyways. May end up just doing short workouts instead long ones this year too. Get better soon.
For sure, this year has made some moves in the right direction overall, but is more niched down, so I can see a lot of Zwifters in that more experienced camp potentially taking a pass. If the timing isn't really right for these assessments and you have more unlocks than you can shake a stick at, it's hard to find the point. The short ones aren't a bad plug for a once-weekly intensity touch point in a base phase, I know a few people doing that too.
You're right, it definitely is counterintuitive. That said, if you want a max value on the 30 second sprints, they would have to be first. I can see it both ways for sure!
This felt harder then workout #1. My numbers weren’t off by much but I had a ZRL race and workout #2 already in my system so I guess it was to be expected.
thanks for sharing it. ive read that in the past Zwift sent comments about the workouts, i think for 2023 this isnt happening right? what is the best way to compare the results with? with my best numbers that always shows by the end of workouts on zwift? thanks
