I love the idea that north yankton is simply just a large ice sheet over a huge bottomless ocean which just happens to have sharks absolutely littering the area waiting for people to fall in
I mean, probably the only thing that would be gotten over speedrunner strats from doing this would be walking everywhere. Not running (stamina stat) or driving (driving stat), just walking. But I'm not sure that'd be very interesting to watch...
@@ShinjiSingsidk how bad 1% is but id imagine trying to shoot somebody (or a pilot out of a heli) would be a nightmare (im pretty sure the accuracy is all bloom and the better the stat the less bloom? idk for sure tho)
And that mightve been the reason lung capacity was kept, because since they didnt think you would be able to swim, they might not have programmed it to reset, since it would still be the starting value on a normal run
The reason why all the stats except stamina and lung capacity reset at the end is because the game stores a bunch of variables, and calculates the stats based on them. For instance, it tracks distance travelled in stealth mode and uses it to calculate the stealth stat. Also the game resets all these variables after prologue EXCEPT time spent swimming and underwater. So the lung capacity kept at 100%, and stamina kept only its swimming part, that's why it was higher than normal but not maxed out.
Makes a lot of sense, they probably didn't bother resetting it because without the exploit to escape the map, you would never have a way to increase it. Interesting though that they decided they don't want players to keep any stat progress from the prologue. Thanks for helping Matt with the mod and your insight into this.
I'm more surprised that M & T from Prologue are actually the same characters as Michael & Trevor in later missions (I mean in the code, not in the story). What reason would be there to link the two, and not just have them be entirely separate?
@@DivyanshBalchandaniless work. If you were to have separate characters for prologue, then they would double the work for no reason so 5 characters instead of 3. Then, if you go that route, you may as well have brad be playable. That's now 6 characters to work on
@@jordanwardle11 All characters are already playable, as you can do so in Director Mode. I do not see how they would have to put any more work than that, especially since M & T are only accessible in one mission. They could be separate characters that inherit the animations of their later versions, and that's it. Taking the same characters, switching their models, resetting their stats, turning on special, etc seems like more work to me than just having a character with all these attributes already. My assumption is that the game has certain considerations for each character. Like, if you're controlling Trevor, the game is different than when you're controlling Michael. An example of that is how the flare from the sun changes depending on what character you are controlling. So, essentially, when you switch characters, you might be changing the entire game world in some ways. In such a case, adding all those properties to a different character for one mission would be a pain.
Maybe an alt to this could be MaxStat% ? instead of trying to get max stats in the first mission, just see how fast you can get MaxStats (real time) knowing all the weird things you know about the game?
Thought this video would just be a wonky idea, but it really became interesting watching you and chat leverage your immense knowledge of the quirks of the game. Terrific stuff!
@@murr4671 Oh my God, yes. That would explain why they're doing the prologue heist over and over again, they're trapped in a spiral. And how under the place they're robbing is deep water.
You can't use special ability under water(because it becomes lung capacity). I thought the DARKVIPERAU would know this from that one episode of Pacifist(Derailed).
I suppose but the editor keeps excessively zooming in on him a lot. Probably more of his cam featured than the game itself. I mean 8:01 - 8:41 is a good example. I just want to see the game.
1:01:43 there’s 2 titans on the military base. If you are able to open the back door, you can get the red car inside the titan, fly away, and lose the cops. Afterwards some under the bridges should be possible with the titan or you could do landing strats. The harder part would be to open the back door, which I know some ways to open the back doors were patched for online but I’m not sure they were for GTA5. Some options could be using the natural spawn C4, punching the back of the titan, using a bat to open the door, or even ramming the car hard enough into the titan
@@DarkViperAU You could also transport the car in the Benson Truck and the Buzzard on top of it, or the Buzzard on the train and you follow with the car.
1:00:49 now that was some great circular story telling! the once prey of the shark, becomes the shark Had fun watching! I appreciate the time and effort that went into it!
Matt we love you and please don't quit what you're doing, if it's mentally effective then please take a break for yourself, this in entirely unrelated from the video and I mean no harm by this. love ya matto:)
4:11 Fun fact: That's the same location for Cayo Perico, and North Yankton is just above it. If you used mods to load both at the same time, some phone/radio towers reach into NY because it's not high enough.
I have really bad thalassophobia, like I can not go into the deep ocean in gta or most other games, it is one of the only things in games that actually gives me goose bumps, sharks don’t exactly scare me but when I’m in an ocean and I see their fin but not their body I get shivers down my spine
I don't have it but I know that must be tough for you. And did you play story mode on GTA? Cuz I know there's like 4-5 missions where you have to go into deep waters
Great video! Love your content and bizarre sense of humour Matto. Your videos give me motivation to try getting max stats as soon as possible in GTA V for example. But I won’t end up doing it because I miss one thing - 10:29.
I remember watching the first part of it live. One hour doesn't convey the amount of suffering that happened on that day :) Also, 37:18 a typo in the word "increasing".
