Can YOU Guard a 6 ft NBA All Star? Feat. Raptor Fred VanVleet, Marcus Posley + Jordan Poole

At UW Health Sports Factory in Rockford, IL, Fred VanVleet of the Toronto Raptors, Marcus Posley of the Sioux Falls Skyforce, and Michigan Commit Jordan Poole, gathered for a one-on-one contest.
At 6 feet tall, Fred VanVleet, former Wichita State great and 2x Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, seems undersized. Once out on the court, he shows why he has a roster spot on the Toronto Raptors.
Former St. Bonaventure standout and current Sioux Falls guard, Marcus Posley, is around Fred's height as well. Just like Fred, he proves why he has a spot in the league, even if it is the D League, for now.
A top 100 recruit in Jordan Poole struggled with the undersized VanVleet and Posley but in the process adjusted as the session went on. Standing at 6'4"-6'5" Poole was the tallest competitor on the floor. The major difference between him, Posley, and VanVleet was simply the four years of college the two each had while Poole begins his time at Michigan soon. After playing with these two players, he will be more than ready for Big Ten basketball come this winter.
Do YOU think you can take an NBA player? Watch as Marcus Posley and Jordan Poole both attempt to stop the talented Fred VanVleet.
*Update 2.3.22
Shoutout to Fred VanVleet being selected to his first all-star game and Jordan Poole becoming a solid rotational player with the Golden State Warriors!

Fred made it look effortless because of his NBA level ball IQ. How easily he read his opponent and capitalised on their mistakes. It's almost unimaginable on what level the superstars are in this league! No wonder they smoke everyone in the Olympics.
@MrSPIDEY21
@MrSPIDEY21 6 лет назад
Sandhaan C false...they smoke everyone in the olympics because of their size and athleticism...they are bigger stronger and faster than everyone...other countries are actually more fundamentally sound then them...manu, dirk, porzingiz, Tim Duncan, Steve Nash, Ben Simmons...they don’t play for us they play for their countries...they come from other countries
@josephac29
@josephac29 6 лет назад
MrSPIDEY21 Tim Duncan was born in the US Virgin Islands, and Manu is notorious for his unorthodox playstyle... Simmons can't even shoot. Bounce passes, Euro steps, and hook shots don't make you more fundamental than the US olympic team lmao.
@wavycrockett4261
@wavycrockett4261 5 лет назад
@@MrSPIDEY21 dummy it's a combination of both I can tell you never played high level ball because a fundamentally sound team will beat a team who is just more athletic. You have to be fundamentaly sound and athletic to be elite with high basketball iq

USA used to have a hard time vs Spain, and Europe countries don’t have 250 million citizens. If you join the best basketball countries in Europe until you have a total population of 250 millions I say it becomes pretty damn close. And here in Europe almost everyone is encouraged for football, basketball can only come close in countries like Greece and some Eastern Europe countries. Even in Spain football is 10x bigger than basketball

@kaiojohnson3240
@kaiojohnson3240 5 лет назад
EXACTLY, nba players have expanded their games so much it's very difficult to guard nba players no matter if you are an nba player or not. That's why I hate when old heads try to say its no defense these days because nba scores are so high or they saw a few clips of players being a little lazy on defense. Players today work on their offensive so game so much nowadays. So many times its just Great D but better O. Which is why players who actually do very well guarding other nba players and make all defensive teams should be recognized much more than they are because of tough it is to guard players today in the nba. It's not even just the nba either. We can go all the way to kids in elementary. Kids, teenagers, grown men are just so talented ans gifted on the offensive side its no wonder its so difficult to play defense on each other.

Huge differences in quickness and fundamentals. The first stride, each move's range, etc. And the quickness, he can make the shot easily without creating extra space and the defenders were not even starting to jump or having a hand close to the releasing point. While on one pivot foot, he can easily poke the space without defence. Of course, he is way stronger, otherwise, he would not be able to hold his position.

For those who dont really see it for what it is, heres the run down. Fred took his time and read how the defender was playing him, always attacked the front foot, and had the strength and finishing ability to get it in at the rim. Now, honestly I believe the other 2 guys could be just as good of shooters, finishers, ball handlers, etc. But none of them had the same I.Q. of the game, so they got torn up. A great example of this is at 4:40 he jabbed to his left, forcing Fred to respect the drive and cut him off, while not actually changing his foot positioning, which put him at even more of a vulnerability, and he easily attacks his front foot, which forces Fred to turn, and by time he can't get a good contest and it's a bucket. He coulda done this all game, but he didnt know any better.

😂I tried! Mike Woodson almost 30 years ago in Bloomington In. Humbling. He toyed with all of us, and won with skill, not size or athletic ability. In general id say pro players have twice the accuracy, and range of good high school players...while operating with half the time and space. So: a 30 footer for them is like a 15 footer for you- and they can hit it in half the time with half the space.

Wow this guy has made a big name for himself. I think without him raptors would not be in the 2018-2019 nba final and not beat the warriors the first game. He continues to make big shot after big shot on not crunch or crunch time. I hope he stays with the claw and siakam. The claw playing like Jordan and siakam playing like pippen with deadly shooting guard in fred. Wow! I wish I continue to see them playing together in the future.

IQ and composure ladies and gents. Fred dictated everything that happened with these 2 elements of the game. Shows why he’s a pro and the young guns r still workin. They’ll get there tho.
