The singing should be only for kid's birthday. Unless you want it. I can imagine why it would be embarrassing having a bunch of strangers who don't know you, and who don't care it's your B Day to sing "Happy B Day" to you.
Agree that it’s a little awkward on the receiver’s end, but I also think it’s so wholesome. They didn’t have to sing happy birthday but they did anyways. I found that so sweet.
