Well Vaylin has a lot of dialogue where she literally says "My chains are broken." Overall, the arc of this character is mainly about destroying the limitations created by Valkorion + psycho-revenge on mommy. The word arrogant would fit Maul because he never learned anything and therefore always failed in the end.
For "elegant" i first tought Ben Kenobi since his quote in A new hope "a elegant weapon, for a more civilized Age" Honestly i didnt tought about the elegant form of fighting of Darth tyranus or his curved hilt
I don't know who she is but the one in chains is for me Maul. He talks about breaking the chains when his brother found him, like in the Codex, but in the end he forged his own with which he chained himself to Obi-Wan
