Fun fact: people having Chromesthesia usually don't see the same things/colors when listening to the same music piece. So I believe it's safe to say there is no point to compare two persons' visual representations of the same piece.

Yeah! I don't know if it's very common, people tells me it's just because it's your memory, but there's many smells that will gives me flashbacks to something very special, for example a very specific of glue brand will remind me of my kindegarten because we used these a lot and it's very closely tied to it, I also have a good sense of smell.

I have mirror-touch synesthesia, its not just with touch though when someone says they have a stomach ache or their head hurts the same thing happens to me but its only if I'm aware of it. (yes I got diagnosed with it dont come at me bro)

there’s a difference between actually having synesthesia and *trying* to assign something to a word. my friend can smell words and sees colors for words. i ask her what color my name is and she says a muted sky blue. she sees this color when she thinks of my name. i, however, have to THINK and TRY to assign a color to my name. most people in these comments are just experiencing the placebo effect and are thinking hard to try and apply themselves into what real synesthetic people experience.

Everyone in the comments that's trying to self diagnose themselves with synesthesia needs to remember that everyone has synesthesia to a certain degree, it's part of normal cognitive quantifying. You don't need a mental disorder to be unique, please look somewhere else.

Synesthesia can’t be diagnosed, because it’s not a disorder or disease. It can be tested though, and I agree, I think everyone has a form of it and it can be practiced/enhanced. Some people are just more genetically predisposed to it than others. Like a lot of things, it’s a spectrum and everyone experiences it differently.

I’ve had this my entire life and I have always just thought it was normal. I can’t believe how uncommon it really is. I was talking at the dinner table about it assuming they all did that but then they all looked at me like I was nuts haha.

I've had chromesthesia ever since I was born, and I just want to clear up the fact that not many chromesthetes (I think that's the word) associate the same colors with the same sounds. In test number two they kinda messed that up a bit. For example, I hear One Dance by Drake (just using a popular song as an example so everyone can understand)in light pink, but another person might hear it in dark blue. But also someone might happen to hear it in the same color as me.

The second test I was thinking of a painting as the music was playing (didn't paint along with you guys) using the same colors. I feel this makes sense because I listen to music all the time when I'm drawing, if I start drawing I slowly lose my motivation to continue if I forget to turn some music on.

I i guess i do have Mirror-touch synesthesia...when i saw the person in the right hit himself for the first time...i felt it...but when he did that again i didnt....similarly when the person in the left hit himself for the first time i had a feel...but when he did that again i alerted myselves i guess...From this i got to know that when i see things right away ....i get the feel and ....when its done again...i get alerted...

I believe tests for synesthesia would rarely ever work because people associate objects and concepts all the time without realizing, over the course of their lives. Testing for synesthesia might get people confused… between conditioned associations and actual neurological experiencing.

I can taste words with certain foods and certain words have a smell. And one food lets me taste certain numbers too. Although, something weird I can do, is that I can actually switch between which number or word I wanna taste and I have a special order for them.
